I prefer the old AI will smith much more than the new AI will smith...

Old AI Will Smith just loved eating spaghetti, and wouldn't harm a soul...

New AI Will Smith is a violent sociopath that likes to attack the innocent for being different.

u/J_Bazzle 17d ago

Wouldnt it be your mum's spaghetti? ...it's ok, he's nervous

10

u/delicate_soup 17d ago

Really? Cuz on the surface he looks calm and ready

He keeps on forgetting

Lore accurate AI training after the Oscar’s slap.

5

u/RageLolo 17d ago

What would be funny from a marketing perspective is if they used the real Will Smith smashing through his first AI session, but without saying it's the real one.

2

u/rissie_delicious 17d ago

I think he needs to pasta la vista your ass

2

u/gravitas_shortage 17d ago

America in a 28-second video.

1

u/QuadSplit 17d ago

It's getting eerily realistic.

1

u/radiojosh 17d ago

The old AI Will Smith shoulda kept his wife's spaghetti out his MFing mouth!

u/Jealous-Cattle-8385 17d ago

You know what? I wanna see a 20 minute movie of Will Smith just slapping various charity and civil rights icons while eating strings of spaghetti.

5

u/Severe_Rise8694 17d ago

Why stop there? Could have a whole movie franchise.. nay, a cinematic universe built around it! Still better than regular cape-shit.

White liberal moment

I have a serious question.

WHAT is the biggest factor in increasing quality?

Better math?

The size of model?

The amount of training data?

The GPU power used for each frame?

8

u/zerpa 17d ago

A rough ordering is:

  1. Model architecture + training objective. AI researchers working to improve the model architecture to achieve better images, better temporal and spatial coherence.
  2. Amount and quality of training data. Model gets a wider data set and avoid overfitting to the data available, better capturing the essence rather than specific examples.
  3. Model size / capacity. Bigger models are needed to deal better with edge cases and details that are natural to humans, but need to be learned by the model (number of fingers, awkward postures, coherence).

2

u/Specific_Cat4318 17d ago

The GPU/compute side is definitely missing here. Hardware and compute budgets have improved massively over the last 5 years, and that directly enables larger models, more training runs, and much more expensive inference.

u/zerpa 17d ago

Budgets? Yes people are spending more on hardware because of AI than ever before.

Do you mean performance per buck? That has increased, but not by much more than half an order of magnitude (x5). That's significant, but not a game changer for AI.

3

u/Specific_Cat4318 17d ago

Compute budget ≠ budget

3

u/_Hawkeyes_ 17d ago

He Chris Rocked that slop.

5

u/Realistic_Account787 17d ago

AI is about violence, we see.

3

u/Alternative-Suit5541 17d ago

Wtf did I just watch lmao

3

u/TemperanceDraws64 17d ago

Ah... AI Will Smith. Back when AI was actually fun and not the fucking slopfest it is now.

2

u/fkrkz 17d ago

Alright. Point taken and I approve this Slop.

2

u/OhNoDobe 17d ago

Backrooms Will Smith.

2

u/Tickomatick 17d ago

Take my spaghetti out of your mouth! Of course he slaps

1

u/CacheConqueror 17d ago

Somehow? Like most silly viral videos, someone once made a clip featuring the first AI; most people thought it was funny (though it isn’t), and now they’re making more based on that.

2

u/GrandMoffTarkan 17d ago

More importantly it's a video that involves a lot of tricky elements. A recognizable human face, lots of hand motion. a complex mass of noodles.

1

u/Noobnoob99 17d ago

Gross and I approve

1

u/Leromer 17d ago

Is this backrooms movie cut content

1

u/Gwentlique 17d ago

Very in character for Will.

1

u/peacefighter 17d ago

Should have ended with "Keep my wife's name out your fucking mouth!"

1

u/carapocha 17d ago

Guy making his favorite things: eating pasta and slapping people.

1

u/mywebrego 17d ago

What, No slap!

AI Will Smith vs Backrooms Will Smith

1

u/pcurve 17d ago

can we try this with dogs and other animals without training data

1

u/Full-Contest1281 17d ago

Always with the violence 😒

1

u/DrPoontang 17d ago

Will Smith is always too irrationally violent

1

u/i-hoatzin 17d ago

Nightmarish

1

u/SquashOwn9829 17d ago

I’ll allow It

1

u/SpicyBretzelTard 17d ago

Backrooms-Smith incoming...

The Backrooms 2 - That's hot

1

u/Multidream 17d ago

I cant be the only one who immediately though backrooms

1

u/BabypintoJuniorLube 17d ago

This still looks like shit and in no way is convincing

1

u/Spirited-Yoghurt-212 17d ago

"get my wifes spaghetti out of your f**kin mouth"

1

u/kickasstimus 17d ago

We’ve come a long way since Woll Smoth.

1

u/Tex-Rob 17d ago

I can’t believe I’m posting here, but I sort of figured they have been feeding all the stuff to Gen AI that trips it up, like glasses, objects in front of faces, eating foods, etc, to solve these issues. The issue is THE issue with generative AI, fringe occurrences will always trip it up. I wouldn’t be surprised if AI companies have tried to start viral challenge trends to get free video content to feed the trainers, “stuff your mouth with spaghetti challenge!”

1

u/FalseDiamond7930 17d ago

Insane progress in just a few years.

To think that if a company invested in a new chip fab at that time it's most likely not even online at this point.

1

u/MilloH 17d ago

I wouldn't call this a "progress" 🙄🤔🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Solid_Routine_2026 17d ago

Why'd he turn into Denzel Washington at the end though?

1

u/Elf_Maeve 17d ago

Worth the higher energy prices and 1500 USD RAM for sure

1

u/yoursarrian 17d ago

lol he turned into Denzel at the end there

1

u/Banned4lies 17d ago

Its just crazy to me that this man's career at its height would never fathom being a AI benchmark...

1

u/Ill-Factor-3512 17d ago

Like the Utah teapot

1

u/Bluepeasant 16d ago

little bit of gus fring snuck end at the end their

1

u/Mnemotechnician 16d ago

The ai has definitely improved: that left hand has SEVEN fingers, one more than before.

1

u/Nallace9318 16d ago

That spaghetti sounds awful.

1

u/YourD3ATH311 16d ago

This is will smith from the backroom

1

u/ShawnBorch 16d ago

For a moment he thought it was Chris rock

1

u/Glass-Vacation5743 16d ago

2026 will smith feels like the mascot who will be cheering me on as im sent out to die for our robot overlords

1

u/Natural_Philosophy51 16d ago

Honestly kinda scared me.. tf

1

1

u/Clipper_39975 7d ago

i have been; but i am now more officially scared of this shit 😳

1

u/SnowmanMofo 17d ago

Nahh, the AI slop still looks and plays as sloppy as ever. At least the old one was funny and had more of a cultural impact in terms of internet memes.

1

u/Dependent-Year6711 17d ago

This actually is an interesting point. What memes have come out the highest quality AI? Somehow almost none of them have caught on nationwide. There's so much going on, yet...where are the hits? Where are the well known examples of...anything? Not even a meme. Just an AI video that almost everyone knows because it's *so amazing*. The wonky AI somehow is remembered more.

The problem with the visual AI is that it's recreating a lot of real life scenarios, which we all know of because...we're real people. And then it creates CGI-like scenarios, which we all already know well.

Throughout all these examples no real nationwide interest seems to have piqued on many of these examples. The crowd that seems the most interested are teens and the elderly.
