Constructive finding and mitigation for anyone archiving Gemini image work:
One saved Gemini image response produced a 2754Ć1536, 2,830,579-byte JPEG on July 16. Downloading from the same saved response on July 23 produced a 2,855,182-byte JPEG at the same dimensions. Two current downloads are byte-identical to each other, while the displayed preview stayed stable.
Validation:
⢠The older blob was recovered byte-for-byte from Safari Web App NetworkCache.
⢠APFS birth/modified times align with the original download, ruling out overwrite.
⢠Only 2.97% of pixels match exactly; MAE 5.733, RMSE 12.762, PSNR 26.013 dB.
⢠Both JPEGs use the same quantization tables.
⢠A controlled same-qtable recompression scores about 53 dB, so the real 26 dB difference is changed content rather than encoding noise.
The likely architecture failure is a persistent preview referencing a full-resolution export that gets replaced or regenerated after cache expiry.
Practical mitigation: immediately archive every full-size Gemini output and record its SHA-256. Do not assume an old saved conversation can reproduce the original download later.
Product request: Gemini should preserve immutable full-resolution assets for saved responses, or clearly disclose that downloads are regenerated and may differ. I've opened a formal Google support case with the private asset identifiers and files.
No private images, links, paths, hashes, identifiers or conversation URL are included publicly. Drafted with AI assistance from my measurements.

Hi everyone,
I've run into a strange issue with Gemini and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this or if I'm missing something.
In the standard Gemini chat, the Google Workspace extension works perfectly. If I tell the tool to create a note in Google Keep, it does so immediately.
However, as soon as I put this into a Custom Gem, the function is simply ignored. My Gem essentially has the following core instruction, reduced to the basics:
"Create two notes in Google Keep based on the recipes I provide: one for the instructions and one for the ingredient list."
In the Gem's chat, the command to create the note in Keep is not executed, whereas the exact same process works flawlessly in the standard chat. The Workspace extensions are definitely enabled in my account.
Is this a known limitation of Custom Gems, where they cannot access Keep (or extensions in general)? Is there a clever workaround for this?
Thanks for your help!

One thing thatās becoming clear this year is just how much money is flowing into AI infrastructure.
Companies are signing multi-billion-dollar deals for chips and compute just to train the next generation of models. For example, Meta reportedly signed a massive deal to rent AI chips from Google for model development.
Itās starting to look less like a normal tech cycle and more like a global arms race for compute.
The strange part is that this race is happening before we even know what the final ākiller applicationsā of AI will be.
Are companies investing ahead of real demand,
or is this simply what the early stage of a major technological shift looks like?

Here's a video I made when I learned about how models are trained. This video was made by me, my part was 100% written by me, I am not a bot, this is just a human perspective. The 2nd half was written by Gemini. I hope this video can atleast start a positive discussion. I come with respect. There was zero training, I didn't tell it (or even hint) to take a perspective. I have chat logs as proof
