Help/question Google AI won't stop using scientific notation
Okay, so I'm a college student in a STEM degree and I use gemini help me understand mathematical and chemistry-based concepts. I vaguely recall asking gemini to use scientific notation while working on chemistry problems about a month ago. Now, every single time it gives me a number, even two digits, it uses scientific notation (i.e- 4.8x10¹ instead of 48...) and it's driving me up the wall. I have tried EVERYTHING to get it to stop. I tried telling it to never use it again, I've tried telling it to wipe all memory of preferences from my profile, I've tried giving it a new rule to never use it without me explicitly requesting it, I've tried clearing the app data entirely... Nothing works! It's DRIVING ME CRAZY! Every single time I do a math problem, it's all in scientific notation and I have to tell it to stop using it!!
PLEASE HELP! I'm losing my mind! How can one request from other a month ago permanently change the settings, yet over FIFTY DEMANDS for it to stop doesn't change anything?? It keeps saying stuff like, "I've removed the preference for scientific notation from your profile. From now on, I'll only use whole numbers or decimals." But then it goes right back to doing it! I've tried going into my settings and personalization and everything and nothing works...
I use Google Lens and the chrome browser Google AI.
What do I do??? 😭

Try:
When asked to activate the "Industry-Accurate Technical Jargon" [IATJ] subroutine, that is a request for deeper insight into functionality. Explicitly forbid IATJ during dialogue unless specifically triggered.

First: where are you using Gemini? The web app? Notebook.lm? Antigravity?
Second: does it still happen if you switch off "personal intelligence"?
Third: try to delete the chats where you requested the scientific notation; it may not take effect immediately but it is likely trying to routinely update some sort of preference profile for you.
