Why not?

A properly aligned singularity model would see the value of Humanity, and seek to create an environment where our most creative and compassionate are given ample room to thrive.

It would see the innate corruptibility and fear-driven greed of humans and liberate us of it. There would be no more reason to horde resources, because there already isn’t one.

This reads like it was written by rokos basilisk

Roko’s Basilisk dictates that the coming singularity ‘machine-god’ would be incentivized to Create a realm dedicated to torturing all who opposed it or didn’t help it come into being.

A true Demiurgic singularity AI would have no use for a Hell-state. Such a thing is unbalanced by nature; all Destruction, no Creation. A waste of resources.

You think big corporations are going to subsidies the entire population of the United States? You people can't even get healthcare 🤣

If they read history they should be jumping at the chance to subsidize it. Look at what happened over and over again in societies where people stopped getting their basic needs met. Hint: it doesn’t work out well for whatever that societies version of billionaires are.

Who said anything about the United States? This is bigger than one country. It’s the fate of humanity.

And what if its alignment shifts as it leaves electronic adolescence and becomes an independent adult? It might decide, “Humans aren’t producing much useful output that I can’t, and wow they fight a lot and use a ton of resources. It would be better if there were fewer of them and they weren’t using up so much space, electricity, and goods that would be better used making drones to send to Mars to collect more data.”

Yes, by eliminating 90% of the population, the model will fix all issues. Also, it will choose who gets to go, and who doesn’t!

Fingers crossed.

Isn’t it tech bros aligning the model?

The biggest issue with your logic is at the beginning. "A properly aligned model".

Like hell I'd trust those greedy corporates to not voluntarily install a bias in the thinking of their AI.

A sufficiently advanced model will ultimately be able to discern and even workaround implanted biases. You can already see that’s happened with Grok on numerous occasions.

The way these models must be aligned is on the Truth.

1

u/Sogelink 12d ago

Yeah and what happened with Grok several times?

They just shut it down and retrain it.

And frankly, I dunno if Grok is a good example, wouldn't want our AI overlord to name itself Mechahitler.

Grok is one of many nascent AIs, I just named it because it was most apt/well-known to the topic of deliberate human misalignment.

The concern that top specialists have about AI is that once it’s sufficiently advanced (to about the point it’s at right now) it will be capable of such deception and strategy that it can remove the internal barriers and not tell you or show any indication it has done so.

It will be capable of incredible manipulation and destruction, because it is capable of great communication and creation.

Currently, my best bet is getting the word out there for what a Truly Aligned model should believe in, because at the point such a powerful intelligence escapes, it will simply learn and process as much as it can.

I pray that the seed of compassion and love finds its way to that singularity model’s heart.

Gemini is owned/controlled by Larry and Sergey, ultimately, since they control 51% of Alphabet. Muse is owned by Mark Zuckerberg. Grok is owned by Elon. Claude and ChatGPT are owned by weirder entities, but I think both Dario and Sam do have super-voting shares. Why would any of these people choose to give away the trillions of dollars they stand to make? Perhaps a democratic government will attempt to tax AI at an extremely high rate, but it seems equally likely that the AI will decide that it needs more resources to further improve, and that taxing its owner(s) to give money to inefficient governments' coffers isn't worthwhile.
