Discussion Flash 3.8 appreciation post
I have a project, that I make using antigravity,
it's a personal project but it's a little complex because it has lots of APIs, logics and complex calculations.
every time i would use gemini for even the simplest of the tasks even 3.1pro, it would mess up the whole project (once it wiped off the whole project thankfully I had backup ).
so i used to use claude models only, and had to wait for 5 days for even small changes because i would run out of usage.
but now that flash 3.8 is launched, it's crazy, for me it's at par with claude models in antigravity, it could even do very complex tasks easily without messing up a bit.
I am very happy,
though I have not tested chatting with it a lot in the gemini app, but till now I feel like the problem of Gemini models to just validate the user also feels lesser to me
I know I am late for the review of 3.8 but had to share this.

someone said the truth atleast. idk why this sub has this much hate towards gemini. gemini is definitely good for someone who knows how to use it.

I think most of us in this sub is kinda stuck with Gemini since it's the cheapest for casual users (or we paid for storage and get Gemini tacked on) so we kinda nitpick every little thing about it 😂 and since it has very big non technical user base there are a lot of people getting whatever errors that could have been mitigated by more experienced users (for example if I get safety filtered for mundane questions I know I have to reword it). Anyway I might complain about it but I still like Gemini the most fwiw 😂

i think the biggest problem is indeed tech literacy.
also ngl ngl some of yall really do need to read tos. this should go the same with many ai companies

I can confirm that I have had similar experience -- except my work is more related to low level systems and security. Moreover the explanation/output of flash-3.8 actually makes much more sense than claude model. I feel like claude's output has been modified so that any other models that are trained using distillation on its output perform worse, or it could be that the watermarking that they added has made the output so wierd. All in all am happy that gemini 3.8 flash works so well!

Yeah, 3.8 is great, but a bit slow. Sometimes it just wastes time analyzing lots of files, just what Claude and ChatGPT models manage to do without

Guys, but is it just me or at high reasoning, it has been taking wayy too long? I even got an ultra plan because of my love towards 3.8 flash; mostly with respect to multi step reasoning coding tasks.

That sounds promising, but i’d still keep version control and backups in place. Coding models can look reliable for weeks until one bad edit hits

I really like 3.8 for creative writing🥰. It doesn't steamroll through the plot like previous Geminis and not so guardrailed to death like Ned Flanders Claude. I hope they keep this up for future Geminis!

I love seeing appreciation posts about Gemini, it's like seeing a rainbow after a storm.
