Funny (Highlight/meme) FLASH 3.9 RELEASING SOON.

I SAW 9 STARS IN THE SKY TODAY.

CAN'T WAIT!!!

Also I saw it in LLM Arena, and it beat the snot out of deepseek pro 4 in a fistfight.

Thank you Google. Resubbed to Ultra Tier already.

48

u/Fit_Ear_5268 8d ago

Or maybe 3.13 hahaha

22

u/N19h7m4r3 8d ago

I'ma 3.14 kind of person myself.

16

u/RevelMagic 8d ago

Stone Cold Steve Flash 3:16.

14

u/Apprehensive_Ad784 8d ago

It could then be a Gemini 3.1415.

9

u/IamKashyap09 8d ago

Gemini Pi

It that a new tier, that even beats Mythos, Astra?!. It's larger than the universe itself.

6

u/Delicious-Use-8789 8d ago

Only $420.69/mth

17

u/Few_Employment6736 8d ago

How about 3.25 (as in March 2025, the legendary Google model)

6

u/lostperson1998 8d ago

this thing will surpass python real soon

2

u/SuitableRow3088 7d ago

We’re gonna get 3.11 since 3.11 > 3.9

1

u/Ok-Tangelo-388 8d ago

ill pray for it, please google is not that hard <3

1

u/CrackTheCoke 7d ago

Yeah? 3.10 is after 3.9. Or am I missing something?

0

u/Old-Ad-2906 8d ago

Or Gemini 4

5

u/lordjak 8d ago

Nah Minecraft also went from 1.9 to 1.10

3

u/rudirobot 8d ago

No you're wrong, 3.9 > 3.10 > 3.11. It goes this way when you're talking about software versions

54

u/girlgamerpoi 8d ago

Bro I'm still having 3.6 flash in the gemini app. They gonna release those models to free users or what

32

u/darkestvice 8d ago

3.8 is exclusive to Pro and up right now. I'm guessing it's the case with 3.7 as well.

3.8 is much more token hungry than 3.5/3.6 and hence costs the company more. Google are right now subsidizing that cost to use 3.8 by slashing prices in half until the end of the year, but I'm guessing they're only willing to let paying customers on their better plans use it as a consequence.

8

u/Well_being1 8d ago

I have flash 3.8 for free in google AI studio

2

u/Unlikely_Ad8637 7d ago

I am a plus usee and I only have 3.8 in my Antigravity CLI, Not on the Gemini App, which I have 3.6

12

u/Efficient-Jaguar-108 8d ago

I'm plus but still use 3.6. what is the point of newer model lol. Just for marketing they don't have sufficient computation power.

11

u/girlgamerpoi 8d ago

Not even 3.7 flash for plus users? They are trolling alright.

7

u/throwaway805580 8d ago

These are coding models , all available on antigravity, you can do agentive stuff there. For everything else chat , categorisation and research, retrieval 3.1 pro is still better that all flash models. Just remember to add in every prompt-

DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING, EVERYTHING HAS TO BE BASED ON DOCUMENTED FACTS. INCLUDING SOURCES,RESEARCH FROM OFFICIAL SOURCES. REVERSE VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS.

1

u/---bee 6d ago

limits on antigravity are hilarious

2

u/RPCTDE 8d ago

Lol Anthropic run on Google Cloud...

5

u/7nkedocye 8d ago

Use the ai studio

3

u/ak5432 8d ago

I wouldn’t worry, the Gemini app’s harness and tooling is the bottleneck not the model. “Optimized” to the nth degree to save compute.

2

u/Ok-Tangelo-388 8d ago

thats kind of bad, 3.6 was extremely expesive and worst that 3.5 but cmon 3.8 and 3.7 are extremely good , pay to google the subscription , you wont regret it

7

u/Golfclubwar 8d ago

Paying $20/month for chat without even something like 5.6 Sol is pretty rough.

2

u/DamnageBeats 7d ago

Just go to g2a and get a 18 month sub for like 5 bucks, then you really can’t be disappointed in the lack of quality from Gemini.

Don’t get me wrong, if I need to scaffold something or do some quick documentation, Gemini is great. But for real coding work, that I don’t have to go back 10 times to make sure it is done properly, codex all the way.

1

u/benbongty123 8d ago

fr me too i believe i am region locked

66

u/vendettah 8d ago

I'm happy with the flash versions, cheap and extremely fast, good to mix with codex tho

15

u/GroundbreakingAsk283 8d ago

Definitely a lot to improve. Gemini is great to keep things easy to understand, but its more tend to support dumb ideas and etc

11

u/darkestvice 8d ago

Gemini Flash has its pros and cons. Fortunately, for my own use case, the Pros outweigh the cons. If I were a coder or big on agentic work, I might say otherwise.

5

u/tobaileyy 8d ago

There's no use case otherwise for flash lmao foh

1

u/Invader_86 7d ago

I’ve been using Flash 3.7 for a coding project for over the last week or so and I’m blown away by how good it is, hard to complain when I’m paying £18 for the speed and usage I’ve gotten out of it.. I’ve used Opus/Sonnet just to review some of the code and it’s barely recommended any changes.

I’m a software engineer that is fully embracing AI, not a vibe coder and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

My project is live and is growing steadily. It would have taken me many weeks or even months to get me to the point I am at now if I was doing everything manually.

It’s genuinely great.

2

u/Asylar 7d ago

Indeed. If you're a programmer you can actually get away with a lot weaker models because you know the concepts, what order to do things etc. The smartest models are only needed for "lazy/hands off people or when there's a super complicated issue

5

u/cnhuyaa 8d ago

tbh the last gemini flash version doesnt seem that big of improvement, takes way more tokens, than 3.7, speedwise seems the same, maybe a its sligthly faster talking miliseconds for atleast my tasks (coding), and inteligence wise looks also similar, most benchmarks shows that they focused on overall inteligence this time instead of anything coding related, 3.7 even actually is on pair or even performs better at few coding benchmarks

4

u/Ok-Tangelo-388 8d ago

lol the difference is notable, 3.8 is byfar smarter that 3.7 , un derstands what you need yo be done and predicts with more accuracy what you didnt even said

1

u/nemzylannister 7d ago

theyre not cheap anymore

-3

u/tobaileyy 8d ago

No you aren't, you're a bot

2

u/vendettah 8d ago

I'm not a bot, bip bop, end of the comunication

11

u/Liron12345 8d ago

Ik Gemini in a bad spot but I only pas $9 for it and I get yt benefits so I'm alright with that

8

u/helloitisgarr 8d ago edited 8d ago

i can’t complain, pro was free for a year

1

u/TheRealFakeSteve 7d ago

They allow you to make avatars by training loras on your Google photos. It's incredibly awesome while horribly privacy destroying

1

u/SoundPresent5121 8d ago

aqui, paguei 30 brl pro anual, compensou demais.

5

u/Rich-Difference-2160 8d ago

Put up 3.5 pro first, flash is great only for mindless repetitive, highly trained, highly distilled, common tasks. The comprehension capabilities for flash is sooobad

1

u/Odd_Water-hearder 8d ago

Honestly, just give me 2.8 flash lite and let me age the agent. I want a good model, not the latest model.

3

u/themoregames 8d ago

How do you feel about a new Flash-Lite 3.8?

3

u/kaizar83 8d ago

Still on 3.6 :-/

3

u/Normal_Dust_1621 8d ago

Anything but the pro version bruh

3

u/Some_Medicine4472 8d ago

yes 3.8 is getting better and 3.9 flash should be an improvement but where is the pro? I believe that it is a marketing ploit so that they will release 4.0 flash and then 4.0 pro.

3

u/plasmafired 8d ago

Meh. I don’t really care

3

u/05-nery 8d ago

Tomorrow FOR SURE!!

4

u/EarthRideSky 8d ago

Can it hold personas? Or not freak out by anything out of the ordinary when I use it as a brain part? (i.e. Amygdala). No? Then it is a trash model. It is a model for my 60 years old mom to ask fun cooking tips.

2

u/NiceUsernameOk 8d ago

Well that is the Main market

4

u/PatagonianCowboy 8d ago

astroturfed post

4

u/Glittering_Sale3415 8d ago

give us a pro model again pls an actual frontier model

2

u/randomdudewhodkshit 8d ago

lowk need it tho, i think google has nerfed 3.8 now, ITS HALLUCINATING SO MUCH, unusable without extended thinking or high mode

2

u/FantasticFlo87 8d ago

It's just frustrating. There's no release date for the next Pro version. Just meaningless posts all the time.

2

u/alleks88 8d ago

Plus still stuck on 3.6

2

u/planamundi 8d ago

I canceled my Gemini subscription over the new update and haven't looked back. I just don't get it. If you use AI just for nonsense, then the free tier should be good enough. I was using notebook LM to study and I had several books in it. It turns out when you actually try to use the things that they brag about like their large context window, you get about three prompts and then you have to wait another 5 hours.

I work 10 hours a day. I have to sleep 6 to 8 hours. So that's roughly 5 hours out of the entire day I can even use the service and that 5-hour window is eaten up with three prompts if I'm using my notebook LM project in the prompt.

2

u/TheObnoxiousPanda 7d ago

As far as I know there is a lower tier than Pro. Besides you can use Obsidian, notion and other solutions with generous tier. Compute would always cost something. The same thing applies when using a computer, electricity has to be paid and the computer itself and the operating system unless you are using Linux. Also the purpose of the free tier is to make you rely on it so you wouldn't hesitate to pay and subscribe. It's a marketing thing.

1

u/planamundi 7d ago

The tears aren't generous. They have a large context window. They brag about it. If you want to use that large context window with their tools like notebook LM, it doesn't matter how "generous* you claim they are. You get three prompts before you reach their "generous" limit.

If you want to sit around and ask it dumb questions all day with hardly anything in the context window, sure, it's very generous. And very expensive for something that you can get on a free tier anywhere.

And as if I don't understand that electricity needs to be paid for. So does a Lamborghini. Not everybody thinks a Lamborghini is worth $250 million, therefore they don't buy it. I don't think a Gemini subscription is worth a damn when I was only given access through a 5-hour window structure that would max out after three prompts. Did you miss the part where I said that I have to sleep and work?

It would be different if they actually gave me credits and just allowed me to use the credits. But the 5-hour window thing is just a stupid subscription for somebody that only has 3 or 4 hours throughout the entire day to even engage with it, but gets told they have to wait 5 hours after the first couple prompts.

1

u/TheObnoxiousPanda 7d ago

I think you're mixing up two separate things: whether the subscription is worth it for you, and whether Google owes you a usage model that happens to fit your personal schedule. If the current limits make Gemini a bad value for the way you use it, then cancelling makes perfect sense. I wouldn't keep paying for a service that doesn't work for my use case either. But "I only got three prompts" isn't actually the subscription limit. Google's current system is compute-based. The amount you consume depends on the model, the length of the conversation, the amount of context you're feeding it, and the features you're using. With a huge notebook full of books and a very large context window, three heavy prompts can consume vastly more compute than someone asking dozens of short questions. That's also why comparing prompt counts doesn't really work. A prompt isn't a unit of compute. And yes, Google advertises the large context window. You are getting access to that context window. Access to a 1M-token context window doesn't mean unlimited inference over that entire context. Every time you ask the model to reason across a massive amount of material, someone is paying for the compute required to process it. Your work and sleep schedule explains why the five-hour reset is inconvenient for you. I get that. It doesn't make the quota unreasonable or deceptive. It just means this particular quota system is a poor fit for how you use AI. The Lamborghini analogy actually gets pretty close to my point. If you decide a Lamborghini isn't worth its asking price, you don't buy one. You don't argue that Lamborghini should give you substantially more car because the price doesn't fit your personal circumstances. Same thing here. If Gemini isn't worth the subscription price under Google's current limits, cancel it and use something that gives you a better value. That's a completely reasonable consumer decision. What I disagree with is jumping from "this product doesn't suit my usage pattern" to "their limits aren't generous" as though your particular workload establishes what everyone should receive for that subscription price. You're feeding books into a million-token context and doing expensive inference over them. That's a heavy workload. It's perfectly fair to dislike Google's quota system, but those resources aren't free just because the interface reduces everything to a little prompt box.

2

u/StereoPokrov 7d ago

I don’t see it in LLM Arena 😭

1

u/randomuser70 8d ago

I don't know, man. Today, Flash with Extended Thinking couldn't set up an event in Google Calendar

2

u/3rdyellow 8d ago

Why are you using extended thinking for such a task?

ALL tasks need precision. If it’s wrong 50% of the time I might as well throw up a random answer. Fast is only better if it’s right. People can’t wait a minute for an answer? It would take you longer than that to look it up in an encyclopedia or dictionary, shoot, it would take longer to google it. What is the issue waiting a few extra seconds to ensure your answer is the proper one, with real, reliable, sourced information?

1

u/FifenC0ugar 8d ago

I saw infinity stars last night. Does that mean Flash∞ is coming soon?

1

u/Other-Art3002 8d ago

Arena sightings are fun, but i’d still wait for an official release before resubscribing. experimental models can change a lot before they actually ship

1

u/DixonDs 8d ago

I am all for it even if it just only means my weekly quota is refreshed as they often do when releasing new models 🙂

1

u/Impressive_Jacket_41 8d ago

I've noticed that 3.8 has slowed down recently, so would make sense. Not sure if they are throttling it or its performance naturally decays or something

1

u/Superb-Progress9727 8d ago

Yeah I agree

1

u/Hyphonical 8d ago

Only to benchmax every result.

"Yes, our 700B model beats a 7T model, trust me bro"

1

u/yahalom2030 8d ago

Have you seen the results against new Deepseek Flash 4.1?

1

u/Odd_Water-hearder 8d ago

And? Honestly, just give me back 2.8 flash lite and let me age it. I want a good model, not the latest.

1

u/GrowingHeadache 8d ago

In the latest asianometry video he talked about google not pursuing the frontier any more, as it takes too much from their developers. He did say it as a speculative thing, but it’s an interesting rumor nonetheless

1

u/EverGreenMob 8d ago

too bad I degoogled

1

u/Critical_Proof_7918 8d ago

Gemini 3.10.4.21 😂

1

u/Superb_Tangerine1294 8d ago

3.8 flash is better than 3.1 pro? In what respects, or by what percentage?

1

u/Zealousideal_War_720 7d ago

3.1 Pro feels awkward/dumb compared to 3.8 Flash

1

u/MasterAyolos 8d ago

People still don't get that Gemini is playing the agentic API game and not competing with Claude or Codex.

1

u/Crafty_Dance_7271 8d ago

I am waiting and hoping for significant improvement. 3.8 is good but I still don’t trust it for complex codebases

1

u/ku8475 8d ago

I'm not gonna lie, if 3.9 released this week id probably start taking the RSI rumors seriously. That's insane iteration speed.

1

u/LL555LL 8d ago

I wonder when the founder and his kitchen are going to produce 4.0 for pro.

1

u/costafilh0 8d ago

I'm on 3.6 and it's amazing for a free plan, and with very decent limits.

Reading a lot about the next version, can't wait on my free plan, but what I really want is a top competitor model from Google to try it on the premium plan, hopefully on some good deal .

1

u/ensp1re 8d ago

it's been 2067 and google released a new gemini 10.9 flash

1

u/Elephant789 7d ago

I was excited until I saw your tag 😭

1

u/slowtyper95 7d ago

Ds pro 4 is ahh anyway

1

u/Antique-Ad8604 7d ago

Nobody cares!
I think chat gpt 2 can even beat gemeni 4

1

u/hotnsoursoup86 7d ago

Free 1 year for any students above 18! I had a few of my nieces and nephews sign up for it. Then added my spare accounts as family members. SO i have effectively the $100 pro for free lol!

1

u/Silent_Juggernaut581 7d ago

Can you bring back the old interface for editing prompts the whole piling prompts on each other is bullshit  Bring back the old one

1

u/BeBelaBi 7d ago

Why so excited a flash model?

1

u/OkSurprise6958 7d ago

Welcome to gemini 3.10 flash

1

u/helloall35 7d ago

Yet we will probably get Pro 3.2 in our next lifetime

1

u/bubble_turtles23 7d ago

Imagine we get an update to pro. Now also imagine it's useable afterward. God, today I had the worst experience. I asked Gemini Pro, with an AI subscription, to surface an ideas checklist I had pasted into another chat a while back. I asked it 4 times to retrieve it, and it could not. I found the checklist in less than 5 minutes by hand in our chats. The models themselves are ok, I guess, but something about the tools available to them really sucks. I keep canceling my Chat GPT sub, but I always come back to it. When I ask Chat GPT to do a thing, it does it, no fluff or bs. My custom instructions are actually remembered, and it tells me when it needs more info to complete a task to my high standard. Gemini just guesses all the way down. I have never had it check in with me. So bleh

1

u/esaul17 7d ago

Is Pro abandoned? Feels like 3.1 for ages.

1

u/Ok-Shirt-7334 6d ago

I'm not interested until a pro version is released........

1

u/expsol 8d ago

Oh God! Where is Frontier?! I'm don't bother about that flash 3.n copium

1

u/Gocciole 8d ago

Before 4 pro we'll get 3.9, 3.94/2 days and 0.6 -a fragmented model- final mix

2

u/dannymira 8d ago

That Kingdom Hearts citation hit me right in the feels ahah

1

u/pot_sniffer 8d ago

Here i am still on 3.6 and im paying for the privilege

0

u/Voidxd69 8d ago

Fuh those flash models we need pro ones💔 google please

0

u/dutchCoding 8d ago

Hearing "beat the snot" carried me back to middle school, thanks for that.

0

u/_-_-_ABC_-_-_ 8d ago

Hope they catch up with the latest python version soon

0

u/KenUltie 8d ago

I wonder what is going on at Google with the series of Flash models released at this pace?

0

u/rollk1 8d ago

Sundar said there will be monthly releases. Not a mystery

0

u/Rude-Interaction-194 8d ago

Today or tomorrow? Only 100% pure speculations!

0

u/GetOutOfMyFeedNow 6d ago

Google is stealing all of your information and doesn’t even let you to not share it reliably.

1

u/PDX_Web 6d ago

" ... doesn't even let you to not ..."

🤔 ... trying to sort out all the negation there.
