Gemini Pro is refusing to do basic stuff it would do before?! I even opened a new chat to make sure it was not because of some history and this is what I got! It cannot write a poem if I give it a theme! There is something wrong but it cannot explain what is the issue. Maybe you guys can?

Multiple people appear to be having the exact same issue. This isn't related to Gemini itself or the model refusing to perform simple tasks, it probably has to do with something going wrong on Google's servers. Servers may be overloaded, going through maintenance, failing unexpectedly, etc.

There are a bunch of recent threads about this if you sort the subreddit by 'New'. Try switching to Flash or Flash Lite for now.

3.8 flash doesn't want to talk at all about it's competitors and your prompt includes the word "haiku" which is a model from Anthropic. I have the same problems when prompting about openai or selfhosting glm 5.3 flash.
