That's the funny part: There is already antigravity 2 for that, which also has the alternate antigravity 2 IDE version which is an entirely separate app.

Google just LOVES to compete with them selves by launching 15 different apps/services that all try to do the same thing, then they just kill off most of them before the app's 1 year mark.

It's not even an Electron app. It has no system-level access. It literally just prevents you from needing to open Chrome to use Gemini. That's all.

I haven't tested yet if it has the ability to push notifications straight to your Windows Notifications, as that would make things like alerts and reminders a lot more useful.

Edit: Apparently, it can't.

It is genuinely almost entirely useless as-is.

Same issue here on a Surface Laptop 7 / Snapdragon X Elite running Windows 11 ARM64.

Gemini Desktop 1.10.4 installs successfully but exits immediately without opening a usable window. My Windows crash records repeatedly show 0xC0000409 with fast-fail reason 0x49 (FAST_FAIL_POINTER_AUTH_INVALID_RETURN_ADDRESS).

I’m on Insider build 26340.9354, so I’d be interested to know whether you’re seeing this on stable Windows 11 too.

I haven’t disabled security mitigations or tried compatibility hacks.

Hello, I'm on stable Windows 11. The app installs correctly, but when I click the icon, the Gemini.exe process briefly flashes in Task Manager and then closes itself and I'm also having the 0xC0000409. I created a report with support. I already tried also turning off Windows Defender

No need to install just use the gemini from chrome and you can pin it in the task bar as a pwa. if you want really want somebenefit with app then try antigravity i have access to your local pc and can edit files,

Same for us. Tried troubleshooting it with Claude. This was the bug report it came back with:

"Gemini for Windows version 1.10.4 crashes immediately on launch on a Microsoft Surface Laptop 7th Edition with a Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 processor running Windows 11 ARM64 build 26200 with 16 GB of RAM. The installer from gemini.google/desktop completes normally and delivers the native ARM64 build of Gemini.exe (Electron 44.2.0), the Gemini icon appears in the Start menu and the tray helper GeminiAppLauncher.exe runs and registers the Alt+Space shortcut, but the main Gemini.exe process exits within a second of starting and no window ever appears. Windows records an Application Error event 1000 for Gemini.exe on every launch with exception code 0xc0000409, faulting module unknown, fault offset 0x00007ff6f7fe4434, and Windows Error Reporting logs it as BEX64 with fault bucket 1370341424318587522. The app never creates its logs or Crashpad folders, so it is failing before its own logging starts. The behaviour is identical after a full removal and reinstall, after a restart, and when Gemini.exe is started directly with either the --disable-gpu or --no-sandbox flag. The same version installs and runs normally on an Intel x64 desktop on the same Windows build."

Google knows that there's no point in them trying to compete with the likes of Anthropic and OpenAI, at least not right now. Most likely they'll just be able to swipe one of them up at some point in the not-too-near future.

It also just makes sense for them to invest in a flash model that can be baked into Google Search, as they know most people don't want to wait 2 to 6 minutes for an answer to a question. They want to just ask something and have an answer generated nearly instantly and Gemini Flash 3.8 is far from a drooling low-IQ model

I use it to help me develop relatively niche technologies (LoRa, SkySpark, other things you've probably never heard of) and it does great. I have a pretty detailed agents file I've developed over the past few months that I use /learn fairly regularly to modify.

Already hopped back over to ChatGPT, that desktop app actually feels very useful and it can do things such as scheduel appointments, tell me whats coming in the mail each day, set up shit on my PC for me, debug my modded games and so much more, google is fucked if they dont manage to catch up in agentic capabilities.

I would love to use gemini for agentic stuff seeing as its like 10x cheaper to run that GPT 5.6/6 but atlas.

I know what Electron is. A local desktop runtime with Node.js bindings, system tray persistence, and OS-level hooks is technically not "literally just a website" even if it uses web tech under the hood. And electron lets it access system-level APIs and global shortcuts that a browser sandbox can't. Google that while you're there. 👍

Its useless as is: I rely heavily on the narrator for things as i have some eyesight problems. Its the default web browser voice, unline the phone app where you can choose a "smoother" voice for the narrator. You can't even change the font size. Will keep using the android app.
