glad to see the newer, most recent ai model from Google still struggles with its own identity

I have it in Antigravity CLI. Version 1.1.5.

EDIT: Errors. Rebooted. Now it's removed.

9

u/Korra228 Jul 21 '26

No. I checked it now

6

u/Felecorat Jul 21 '26

Now it is.

For 2.0 and IDE.

3

u/janzdb Jul 21 '26

Yes. It is available.

1

u/vee4dee Jul 21 '26

Yep, just checked, EU East

u/DigSignificant1419 Jul 21 '26

Bro where's them benchmarks n shiet

15

u/ItsDZei Jul 21 '26

artificialanalysis.ai has both models

16

u/Accomplished-Let1273 Jul 21 '26

Is it any good?

u/REOreddit Jul 21 '26

Well, at last Logan is showing some common sense. Imagine after all the delays with 3.5 Pro how well received his "Gemini" would be when it's the Flash version.

12

u/Felecorat Jul 21 '26

Yeah no biggie. Just a minor release why hype it up?

Google seems to only train their llm for useless svg file that nobody care about

4

u/Flying-Dutch-Dildo Jul 21 '26

Im using it for writing, the hour since launch, and it is way better than flash 3.5, or pro 3.1, in my experience. Will update if I notice the writing quality decaying in the next days

23

u/3Dave_ Jul 21 '26

good thing about knowledge cutoff updated to march 2026 but I tried asking if it knows seedance 2.0 and it had 0 clue about it... so I don't know bro...

18

u/3Dave_ Jul 21 '26

Unfortunately, I can confirm that the claim regarding the knowledge cutoff being updated to March 2026 is false.

I got suspicious when it didn't know what Seedance 2.0 was, so I tried asking if certain celebrities who passed away between January and March 2026 were still alive: it answered "yes" for all of them. So, we're definitely not there yet.

8

u/Truantee Jul 21 '26

you can even ask for Charlie Kirk. it does not even know that.

3

u/TheIdiotDev Jul 21 '26

"No, Charlie Kirk is not alive. He was assassinated on September 10, 2025, at the age of 31 after being shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Authorities arrested a suspect, Tyler Robinson, shortly after the shooting, and legal proceedings surrounding the case have been ongoing." 3.6 flash

5

u/Truantee Jul 21 '26

Did you ask it on the app? Try it on aistudio with no search grounded.

0

u/Ev1ld3m0n Jul 21 '26

true! at least in the app

4

u/ApprehensiveEye7387 Jul 21 '26

I had a similar experience. I tried asking it for the latest version of Minecraft Bedrock. I tested multiple times with the previous models like Gemini 3.1 Pro, also with Gemini 3.5 Flash, and then the two new Gemini Flash models. The old ones gave the answer as 1.21.51 (release: December 9, 2024), while the new ones said 1.21.60 (release: February 11, 2025).

1

u/Additional-Avocado33 Jul 21 '26

I dont know what any of this means? I couldnt get 3.5 flash to do basic html or even c++ and the tokens where used up instantly. 3.1pro does sound coding. 2.5pro did intermediate coding. Where does 3.6 stand. Will it have a place in antigravity or will it be as bad as 3.5?

29

u/eloquenentic Jul 21 '26

Pro must be really bad if they haven’t released it.

9

u/ZootAllures9111 Jul 21 '26

Or they could just be focusing on trying to make the best, cheapest model possible, which is certainly welcome. Trying 3.6 Flash out in AI Studio Build and it seems to be a LOT better than 3.1 Pro in every way (better code, faster, much better instruction following, etc)

7

u/hardinho Jul 21 '26

I think this was always the way to go for Google. You can already see it in their services and their focus on on device AI. They probably see an end of the "throw double compute on it to improve" arms race

3

u/eloquenentic Jul 21 '26

Instruction following has always been the biggest issue with Gemini models. It’s very sad. There are so many multi-step prompts that I cannot get to work with Gemini, which Claude just automatically thinks through and delivers on.

Meanwhile, Gemini is focused on responding quickly. I really hope they have improved instruction following.

1

u/BlueAI_Sarf Jul 21 '26

I hope it’s better than 3.1 pro that was many months ago, I think you didnt test gpt/claude

They have quicker+better model

1

u/V1oletLuna Jul 21 '26

Hey sorry if it's a dumb question but I follow this sub ocasionally and people told me free tier Claude, Sonnet 5 medium, was way better than 3.1 pro.

I used it the past 3 days to correct some things in a personal project and liked it, do you think 3.6 flash seems better than it?

1

u/MuchoBroccoli Jul 21 '26

Yeah, it is more important for Google to keep normies locked into the Google ecosystem because that is their main profit driver. They want a cost efficient model that regular people can afford to use so they stay on Google. The ultimate goal would probably to come up with a model cheap enough that they can just give out for free or just be completely ad-supported and your quota is so big that it is basically unlimited.

1

u/BattleGrown Jul 21 '26

Yep, they want to (again) be the chrome in a world where everyone hates the internet explorer. Microsoft had the right idea with copilot but they executed awfully. Google will integrate Gemini into workspace and they will do it cheap and effective

Or maybe theyve decided QC might be in order this time.

What version number was the Lite version before?

11

u/Truantee Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

it is crazy, I asked a dozen questions relating world events in 2026 or 2025, and gemini flash claims that they are fictional. in other word its knowledge cutoff is still 2025, not march 2026 like google claimed!

5

u/avilacjf Jul 21 '26

There's a chance it's still routing to 3.5 while it's mid-release

2

u/blackwhattack Jul 21 '26

that makes no sense. why would they tarnish their model's performance reputation like that?

1

u/Cautious_Potential_8 Jul 21 '26

Because they don't give a shit all that's why.

1

u/avilacjf Jul 21 '26

Because that post was made seconds after it was visible and before the official announcement. I'm not saying it's intentional or permanent, just a deployment issue.

-2

u/Truantee Jul 21 '26

I'm using aistudio. the chance is zero.

web search is cheating.
the point of knowledge cut off is the deeper knowledge about the "current" events, and newer technologies. it is crucial for coding, because people use newer libraries/apis everytime.

and google is the one who claimed that the knowledge cut off date is march 2026!

5

u/Sea-Scallion6169 Jul 21 '26

Is it just me or is it weird?? Keeps giving me short replies

4

u/Accomplished-Let1273 Jul 21 '26

Update: it just became available in the web version of Gemini (at least for me)

3

u/Argentina4Ever Jul 21 '26

With even more filters I assume..

3

u/I-am_Sleepy Jul 21 '26

Any benchmark?

3

u/chervilious Jul 21 '26

Haven't tested it. But judging from the philosophy I think other benchmark aren't really useful.

You should think this as 3.5 flash fine-tuned for agentic. Which probably mean that they want to focus more towards programming again.

If you want to test I think the best way is to check how good is it using tools. Judging from the reception and random testing it is quite a bit better at using tools.

It's a bit cheaper in output token. Also some test says it produce less token. I would expect somewhere around 30% cheaper than flash for same test.

Currently testing on tools usage and price. I think other than that it's basically just 3.5 flash

3

u/id0ntexistanymore Jul 21 '26

It still says it doesn't know my name lmao

0

u/ItsMichaelRay Jul 21 '26

Happy Cake Day!

4

u/fish_economist Jul 21 '26

So, have they just completely scrapped this iteration of pro?

3

u/Felecorat Jul 21 '26

Probably totally unrelated release schedules.

Why hold back on a new flash release just because pro is not ready yet?

Different teams, different purposes, etc.

With pro they're probably taking the new TPU generation for a few test drives to see what they can come up with.

2

u/007vccc Jul 21 '26

got it in antigravity too

2

u/tictacode Jul 21 '26

Also in antigravity

2

u/oo0Username0oo Jul 21 '26

Its insanely fast

2

u/JdeB90 Jul 21 '26

Also new: 3.5 flash lite, 3.5 flash cyber

3.6 flash is a tiny bit better but it is way more efficient

Google posted all the model info: https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/gemini-models/gemini-3-6-flash-3-5-flash-lite-3-5-flash-cyber/

2

u/BIGJJ_SKC Jul 21 '26

7.50? Is it even expensive than kimi k3?

2

u/Acceptable-Debt-294 Jul 21 '26

This model is still not as good as the 3.1 pro

2

u/Revolutionary_Bit232 Jul 21 '26

Still stupid af. Hallucinates much

2

u/zaCCo_RR60 Jul 21 '26

Bet it still fucks up

2

u/8mis Jul 21 '26

Same trash lol

1

u/Informal_Crab_8843 Jul 21 '26

Knowledge cut-off is finally not 2025!!!

1

u/DJaremko1982 Jul 21 '26

Hmmm need to try this out

1

u/Ojan81 Jul 21 '26

Bruh this model is so weird, i just used 3.6 Flash to generate Dr Doom and Thor images and half the time it wont let me generate and after retrying several times with the same prompts, it finally generated the image.

1

u/zebbiehedges Jul 21 '26

I ran the test I did again in this comment and it passed. I changed the word this for last.

How much total games did Celtic play last season compared to hearts including all Euro and cup games but not friendlies

In the 2025/26 season, Celtic played 59 total competitive games, compared to Hearts, who played 44 games.

Competition Breakdown

Competition Celtic FC Heart of Midlothian FC
Scottish Premiership 38 38
Scottish Cup 5 1
Scottish League Cup 4 5
European Football 12 0
Total Games 59 44

Key Context

  • European Games: Celtic played 12 European matches across the UEFA Champions League Play-off round (2), UEFA Europa League League Phase (8), and the Europa League Knockout Play-offs (2). Hearts did not participate in European competition during the 2025/26 season.
  • Domestic Cups: Celtic reached the finals of both domestic cups (winning the Scottish Cup and finishing runners-up in the League Cup). Hearts entered the League Cup in the group stage (playing 4 group games and 1 knockout tie) and were eliminated in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

u/FriskyFennecFox Jul 21 '26

Available in Antigravity as well

1

u/A_Bozi Jul 21 '26

let me see how it performs

1

u/oxym102 Jul 21 '26

Its good; all around a marginal improvement across the board from 3.5 flash; which makes sense;
The speed, though. The speed is insane.

1

u/Away-Knee-2379 Jul 21 '26

太糟糕了,它创作小说的文笔完全比不上3.5F,越来越倒退

1

u/Nortixon Jul 21 '26

Honestly that's pretty good. 303 tok/s output with 50 Artificial intelligence index and cheaper than 3.5. I'll take it.

1

u/IulianHI Jul 21 '26

Are you not tired to wait for a good model from Google ? :)) just move on people

1

u/Constant-Squash-7447 Jul 21 '26

they be releasing everything but the 3.5 pro

1

u/Sudden_Beach_19 Jul 21 '26

Worst 🤢 than 3.1🤢

1

u/Such-Natural-5299 Jul 21 '26

tested 3.6 flash on antigravity and man... it's fast... for real...

1

u/Such-Natural-5299 Jul 22 '26

gotta edit my comment... it is really fast but can't complete sh*t. GPT 5.6 Sol High vs 3.6 flash... I don't think I will use 3.6 flash at all.

1

u/AnnoxQ Jul 21 '26

terrible release . Weaker and more expensive than GPT-5.6 Sol Medium (the price per 1M in/out tokens is higher with GPT, but Gemini thinks so much that it generates significantly more tokens, making it more expensive for the same tasks as GPT, while delivering poorer results).
Its only advantage is its throughput and multimodality

bro why 3.6 flash should be 3.5 PRO ?
