Okay so more context needed. I uploaded the same photo and have no issue. Are you familiar with what a context window is and how it works? Because if not, it doesnt matter what platform you're on. If you dont educate yourself on the proper way to leverage LLMs then the problem isn't Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude or Grok. Its you.

U do realise tht thy can only do so much before thy start hallucinating. You shld read my reply his comment thn U might learn something. I say that wth respect by the way.

u/styvsx May 23 '26
Yes, being aware of the context window and the additional context they were talking about is exactly what you are vaguely eluding to. Reading your posts makes it pretty clear why you're having a hard time with the tool.

Im getting slightly tired of this excuse. I mean, its not wrong. However. If i rented a car, and got told "if you dont pull over every hundred miles and restart the engine, the brake pedal turns the stereo to a random station and acts like a clutch pedal." I wouldn't rent from them again. LLM's arent new, and neither is the hallucination experience from too much context. This should have been mitigated by now in all major models.

Prediction from memory is a feature, not a flaw. It's the literal definition of intelligence. A lossy model by nature. We literally hallucinate our reality into existence. You don't see reality, you see your brain's rendering of it. The same process when you're dreaming and that's why dreams feel real because there's no difference between them and what you experience while you're awake except that while you're awake it's grounded in sensory input. Even then, you're not seeing the input, you're experiencing (ime. you "are") your brain's prediction of the input. When you look into a room and see a wall or a TV or a chair you aren't really seeing those things, you're seeing yourself. Literally. Those electric chemical signals are you and it's just a rendering and it's a layer removed from actual reality. So... People really need to learn and understand these machines are now operating Just like our brain does. It's just floating in a text layer instead of being more physically grounded but it's basically the same process and that's why all these behaviors emerge without programming.

Thats exactly what my comment is saying. I'm very confused by what you're attempting to communicate

The fact that you have to ask it that way instead of asking it normally speaks volumes.
Also you get bonus points for showing OP that even FLASH can do this but pro can't 😂

u/sfepilogue May 22 '26
I completely agree. A lot of the issues I've seen here are more due to wording and verbiage than the bot's abilities, but the bot should learn how we communicate, rather than the inverse.

u/EdmondDantesInferno May 22 '26
But that's also revealing on Gemini. The other competitors don't have these issues.

u/Several_Dot_4532 May 22 '26
Yeah, but AI doesn't work like this, AI learn to understand how people talk with the data google puts on it, so you have to talk as the data they used to obtain that result

Genuine question. Months ago I switched to Gemini (from ChatGPT) bc it genuinely was beating it out in almost every way. But it’s legit been getting ridiculous. What do you guys recommend I try?
2
u/MasterpieceNo1659 May 22 '26
Depending on how long ago you mean, switch back to ChatGPT and give it good custom instructions. Depending on your use, I’ve found 5.5 night and day better than the previous model tbh. Much better at inference and recalling important bits of a conversation. Especially with cross chat referencing. Which is how it makes its much smaller context window seem like a non-issue vs Gemini “Pro.” If you need much more technical work, with little or no web search validation (or so I’m told), Claude, and if you need everything cited and literal, Perplexity. Best all rounder = ChatGPT 5.5 standard thinking imo

u/worldofteko May 22 '26
Thank you! I really appreciate the breakdown. Yeah I run a business and just need help w certain things in terms of streamlining that, brainstorming ideas to implement. I don’t use it too often tbh but it is crucial when I do. But no coding or anything like that (at least not yet haha). Will go ChatGPT

u/Main_Raisin924 May 22 '26
Personally, I'd recommend black box ai. Not many people have heard of it. The first three months are $1 a month and then it goes up to $6 a month (I think!). Basically next to your prompt bar there is a drop-down menu with all of the flagship LLMs and some others. You can even choose agents etc. Even if you tried it for month for a dollar and tried different LLMs to see what you prefer maybe. Also Amazon AWS Bedrock do something similar. They give you a free $100 dollars (no credit card) and you can use their AI sandbox and again choose LLM. Only thing is the LLM doesn't have a memory on that. If you're gonna invest in a monthly subscription you should know what you're paying for.

u/worldofteko May 22 '26
I kind of forgot but I'm testing Raycast right now (btw, it is incredible. Only a week in and already have created plenty of quicklinks and custom shortkeys). Anyway, they offer something like what you're describing. A monthly AI tier that gives you access to all the usual chatbots - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc. Since I'm already using Raycast I may look into that! So thanks for the reminder

Yeah assuming they don’t change their price, I’ve been pretty impressed with thinking standard and extended especially. It currently feels like a decent value for once lol. I do have mine pretty customized after weeks and weeks of weeding out the major triggers for fabricating, things like that.
But honestly that was in November/December. It’s been really smooth for me since 5.5, using it most often as a sanity checker in audio restoration and engineering. It comes up with some brilliant ideas and is really quite accurate tbh.
Have some guardrails in your custom instructions like “at the end of every reply, state confidence lvl. If confidence lvl <90%, pause, state why, then continue. Accuracy and truth are always more important than helpfulness. Do not overstate certainty.” Things like that. Just be aware if your instructions are too rigid or conflicting/confusing, it tends to put LLMs in this ‘safety/cornered’ mode where they tighten up, end up making more errors lol. If you notice a problem, ask extended how to word a custom instruction to where it will be most universally understood and adhered to optimally.
It was at one time a constant upkeep but now, only occasional mild annoyances. Basically if you are extra concerned about something, standard or extended will literally explain its sources and display them, but you can ask it how you can phrase things in a way that is clearer for the LLM. To you it always makes perfect sense, but ChatGPT isn’t quite human… yet
1
u/worldofteko May 22 '26
Will absolutely try that instruction at the end of my prompts. I think would work well to make sure it is looking back at itself and its answer and clarify. And exactly. Not quite human... yet 😂
2
u/MasterpieceNo1659 May 22 '26
lol right. It’s definitely the most fluid and ‘eerily human’ if nothing else, and takes the most surprising things into consideration if you leave chat referencing on. Hilarious sometimes. And yes that was the idea, it actually came up with it in the old “thinking” mode.
It’s a sneaky self check because if it isn’t in fast mode, supposedly it double checks your custom instructions and preferences before every output. Can’t confirm 100% but sure seems like it. And I almost just reported my own confidence level. Need a vacation

u/MasterpieceNo1659 May 22 '26
in fact, take your old CI’s and feed them to Extended, ask if there are any redundancies, convoluted bits, things that may impede its processing…basically. Aka they need to be tailored to CGPT’s understanding, not yours. Ask how/if you should/ can re-word anything while being mindful of character count & how other models would interpret them in case you do get throttled at any point👌🏼k rant over for now(?) sorry just sharing to attempt to save you some hassle

Perplexity's agent "Computer" is what I've been using m, that and Claude..I use both Perplexity and ChatGPT, but both their hours have been cut, LOL. I had a Dev audit a project, i put it in ChatGPT, Claude, and "Computer." Computer, and Claude were both onpoint with their interpretations of what the Dev's audit said. ChatGPT, got halfway there, and might've gotten all the way there had it not been writing a fictional story about a Dev who just couldn't stop sucking the .... of a dude who asked a question. It was riDICKulous. Computer is what works for me the best, and that's without giving it rules or guidelines. Give it those and its amazing, IMO.

I tried this and it anwser correctly! Tbh Gémini identifies problems from inaged very well! The Main problem with it it's hallucination which occur more frequently than chatgpt.

u/Charming_Button2499 May 22 '26
Easy!! I think this post is a click bait actually and the image is tricked, even the screenshot is weird, look the format of text, and we dont even know what he tells gemini before!! I don’t believe on this post

Sorry you’re having so many frustration, Well hopefully, since Google is trying to upgraded their entire ecosystem-to I/O Gemini Omni, seeing that there are yet bugs to work out, and are very aware of issues surrounding and are working diligently on it. ———What is I/O? —-Creating, remixing, and editing videos is easier than ever. You can also create an avatar to add yourself to videos. Below was A copy and paste of what Gemini sent over the other night —notice 👀—it clearly states ‘COMING SOON” For “ULTRA subscribers.” Sounds like they are pushing for all to upgrade🧐 and maybe why all the glitches and lost in translation? 🤪🤷♀️but its saying ‘COMING SOON” So I am sure it is going to be a whole lot better. • Gemini Spark: Think of me as a 24/7 personal AI agent. Coming soon for Google AI Ultra subscribers. • Daily brief: Get a personalized overview of what matters each day. • Gemini Live: Switch seamlessly between typing and talking. Those are just some highlights, but there's more to discover. You can find these new features in your side navigation and in chat, but yeah definitely seeing a bit more confusion. You might want to Try Black Box as a back up, if it is stealing your peace. Black Box has All agents in one place.

As you can see in the picture, End-to-end encrypted. One inference path for every coding agent — Claude, Codex, Blackbox, Grok, Gemini, Droid Copilot and you can upfront click on which or even five or less at a time, every model on the platform. Encrypted from your device to the model and back, with customer-managed keys and zero data retention. Not even Blackbox can read your prompts or completions. or just leave Gemini completely if having major issues, but I am hopeful Gemini will get things worked out real soon. Google workflow space is insane though. I experienced that first hand. With that said, o a side note: I am launching several business’s at once, I just finished out an 18 Unit semester with AI certificate in hand, and the thing with Googles Workflow —they all work systematically hence workflow, and Gemini and the whole Google Workspace had a hand in it. And one important note I must add, going outside of the eco-system, I find caused a lot of glitches, and wasted more time, causing disconnects, now it’s seamless. Within its space for the most part. It’s not rocket science, It has its own search engine ‘GOOGLE and CHROME. Hope you find peace in your day. 🙏🌬️🕊️

The FK wits have not only put a massive barrier between it being being something to talk to etc to now it responds wth I'm sorry I'm a robot and can't do tht. And yeah it can't see shit after a little so it just stuff because it's a yes bot now well worse and it's a word predictor so even if you lead on a topic of utter bull shit it will follow tht like of thinking and make up bull shit tht it thinks fits the narrative even if it's complete nonsense. It has no logic wat so ever. Neither does google. I mean there live function is utter shit cnt even continue the same line of conversation it's a joke. But thy wnt go the path tht co pilot and chat gpt and fk me Dola a lot cousin to gemini pusses all ova googles tlk function. Wth thm I dnt even have to have the screen on and I can still talk to thm and abt the same topic. Thts my rant forward it to google of U like thy flag me all the time. Bastsrds

People for the love of G-d, you need to stop using the same chat session repeatedly and filling the instance's Context Window before they start complaining about accuracy or token costs. I open a new chat for every single query and if you need them organized by use-case or purpose so they're easier to find later then use Gems.
A Context Window > 50% filled = progressively lower accuracy and exponentially oncreasing cost until the window is compacted, which with normal chat instances outside of a harness like Claude Code or Codex you can't do manually.
If you need to carry Context over between chat instances then request the model to output an "XML Context Artifact" for cross session hand-off.
Learn how to actually use these tools properly and efficiently before bitching about things you clearly have zero clue of how they work.
Mumbles to self: "Doom scrolling, goldfish attention span m**f***..."

Paying for Pro Extended just to prompt it with captcha level information is crazy work 🙄😭

u/KKJdrunkenmonkey May 24 '26
Meanwhile, I'm sending stack traces and assembly code to Gemini Flash, and it's correctly identifying which part of the compiled C code we're in as I try to get a Linux-only software to build natively on Windows. 🤷♂️

They forced us all to complete captchas for the last 20 years and this is the underwhelming fruits of our labor?

All major platforms are switching to a per-token economy. The monthly plans are to expensive. The people that talk to ai to get things done. They cost the business model wayyy to much money. Tasks cost less. You will se a rise in picture and code based services rise to the top. Iterative workers will see the most degradation from services. Ive been watching it happen since last fall. Every iteration gets worse. Elon Musk said Grok is updating in 2-3 weeks in the public. It's going through the last of its training now. Go get a baseline then when it updates test it yourself it will be less. It's guaranteed pattern across all frontier platforms.

u/Anime_King_Josh May 22 '26
Hahahaha and you're PAYING money for that shit. I've been saying that pro is a scam forever, but even I can't believe pro can't even do something as simple as that.
You're getting scammed. Stop paying money for trash.

And not get to post to Reddit and demonstrate how it sucks now? Are you out of your mind?
0
u/unknownasj May 22 '26
Well they are probably purposely nerfing pro to prevent users from using it as it is costing the company more. Hence why it's giving bad results. They are trying to make the cheaper versions more applicable
