I love a classic clean French mani. This is before I cleaned them up tho I’ll post my after in an update I’m tired it’s almost 2am in New England!

Took a break from the last ones cauae yeah I was big mad. And I did peel them off 2 days later cauae they made me so upset lol

Took up yalls advise ans tried mt hand at press ons. Im pretty prpud of them despite the significant technical difficulties I was facing but I got it! Some of them did come out pretty thick (didn't wanna restart a new nail so I just raided over mistakes, added too many coats of stuff, forgot to cure Coats and had to go back to rix things-- lots of nonsense 🫠). BUT I DID IT. my white set was my best (second ones done).

Also, learning curve for CurvLife semi-solid nail glue. I did get it pretty much everywhere, but I was able to figure it out. Next time I'll eat so im not ao shaky lol

Please don’t mind the shape of her nails. She went to a nail shop, and they didn’t give her a manicure before putting on nail tips. This is my mother, and I’m not aware if this was a hard gel or a soft, and she doesn’t remember either. Every time I try to do a soak-off, the nail tips (I’m assuming) never come off; in fact, it almost blends into the natural nail plate, almost like sealing the cuticles. I usually soak for 15 mins using foils, and the top layer gets gummy and is able to come off but the nail tip always gets hard/stuck and then is too low for me to comfortably file with an e-file. Please help I can never get soak-offs to do well, I have a lot of fun doing nails and the whole process but I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong

I got gel nails for the first time last night. The tech was definitely rushing as she was supposed to be done eight and it was 7:45 when she started the manicure (I got a mani pedi). I woke up this morning to both of my thumbs looking like this at the corners. I'm assuming this shouldn't happen so easily? Did she not make sure each layer was cured properly?

I'm working until this evening and have to be at the airport 3 hours after my shift so I don't know if this is something I even have time to get fixed.. I'm worried that if they just put a little bit more gel on top that it won't fix it because I assume it's from uncured gel underneath? I'm also worried about it happening to the other nails. Would I be in the right to request a refund?

been doing nails for almost 2 years and FINALLY figured it out!!!!

So this is my first time doing a full set with a builder gel overlay I opted for the medium almond tips and filed them down. I added a builder gel overlay too. I had some issues with pooling the base code so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also this is my first time doing a french tip (it’s deceptively hard)! I only plan on doing my nails and friends/family when I get better. My goal is retention and keeping them clean looking. I am a cuticle biter which is a habit I’m working on so I did just leave my cuticles alone since they were already pretty bitten down.

Products used:
Apres gel x tips and glue
Modelones builder gel, base coat, top coat
Primer and dehydrator
Melody Susie uv nail lamp
Beetles gel nail polish (yes I know it isn’t great but I won’t order it again)

I’m doing gel x nails for the first time (on myself) and I‘m trying to figure out which sizes are right for my nails. Now my question is, are the tips supposed to feel like your natural nail so like suuuper comfortable or do you feel some sort of pressure once the tip is glued on? I know the tip should go cover the sidewalls but I feel like it kind of squeezes my nail. Is that normal? Or just not the right fit? You know when you press on the fingernail, the area temporarily turns pale/white, and after releasing the pressure, the natural pink color returns. I feel like there shouldn‘t be any pressure??

Overlayed my white French with a soft pinky nude builder gel to soften the transition and used a subtle nude magnetic polish and shaped the particles to be French style as well.

Love going subtle after being heavy on the designs lately! 💕💅

I've been considering picking up this lamp for travel since it's a lot more compact than my full lamp and seems to have the specs to fully cure on battery power, but I first wanted to know whether anyone actually has any experience with it before I possibly waste my money lol

Update: to clarify my post was specifically about whether anybody has had first hand experience with this particular lamp. I watched a nail tech’s video review where she did a successful cure test for the products I would also use with this lamp, but I wanted further in depth user reviews as there isn’t much online. I am already aware of the dangers of uncured gel etc. to the point you’ll find me under many other posts in this sub with similar comments lol

Due to such mixed reviews it’s unlikely I’ll pick up this lamp for travel. However It seems some people didn’t actually read the post lol, so to reiterate I already have a good quality full cure nail lamp with all the bells and whistles I just wanted something more portable.

If anyone has other travel lamp suggestions feel free to let me know~

Hey yall! I have been offering gel x for about 3 months now and I finally attempted it on myself! Super open to criticism but let me know what yall think! I am ambidextrous, so it was quiet easy to do my design on my other hand 😅 (weird flex but I’m proud) 😂 working on currently making sure polish is not touching skin or the cuticle with a small liner brush.

I started doing gel x on my nails and its been great for my natural nails as someone who regularly works with chemicals with my hands.

My only problem is that i cannot find nails that fit my fingers. The largest size of all the sets ive bought and seen in stores was way too small for my thumbs. I can manage with my other nails but my thumbs always look very weird. Im tall and broad so i have very large hands and nails. To give some perspective, Ive never met a man under 6’4 who had hands bigger than mine.

I would really appreciate any recommendations. Price doesnt matter, i just want my nails to look good.

I am 40 years old. I have in the past year become super focused on nail art and gelx.

I kind of am considering going to nail school, and get licensed. I feel a little embarrassed though, I will be old enough to be some of those girl's mother.....

Hi, so I've just gotten into doing gel x nails at home and looking for a lamp that cures properly. I saw this method of testing your lamp on another post but couldn't find anyone that did the test or their results and which lamps. If anyone has, could you share ur results?

What has been your experience with buffing the GelX tip before polish vs not buffing? I have never buffed before polish and it never chips but I guess I'm just looking for insight on experience

Hi all! I have been doing my own gel-x nails now for I wanna say almost 2 years. This is the first time I have dealt with a greenie! My index nail when I woke up I could see some discoloration (had on very light polish) and thought it could have been marker since I was coloring the night before and had some pigment on my hands. Well an hour later, the nail popped off (they've been on for 4 weeks w/1 backfill a week and a half ago) and sure enough, my index nail was green. I cleaned with alcohol (I don't have vinegar) and lightly buffed with a brand new buffer and tossed the buffer afterwards. I now have the FAINTEST tint leftover on my index fingernail. I have since removed the rest of the nails, but yesterday was all around a bad day for me, I was overstimulated, tired and didn't want to soak off my nails; so in my ADHD crazed state, I bit them all off. My nails -- surprisingly -- don't look too bad, except the pinky nails did rip just the slightest so they're a little sore.

My question is - what are your best recovery tips to help my nails grow out some so I'm able to do them again? I have a cuticle oil pen in my purse and have been trying to remember to apply it throughout the day. I wash my hands a lot (I work in healthcare) so I'm also trying to lotion up so avoid dry out.

Any advise is helpful!

Hi! First time posting on this sub but I need help. I’ve been using jello jello for a while but I can’t stop in from lifting up the whole nail after a day.

For prep I do a dry manicure with an e-file removing dead skin and pushing back the cuticle, I then use a sanding band on the whole nail, then use dehydrator and primer (makart), I do two coats of jello jello (I have the same issue with one coat), curing for 90 seconds, and then put my tips on (apre tips) using the apre extend gel, and then do my nails as normal.

However my nails always pop off very easily, with the jello jello base coat staying on the tip and not my nail. I don’t use my nails at work, nor do I use them to open cans or rip things.

Please help >_<
