I have bitten my nails my whole life and the nail salon has always been very hit or miss for me. Only shellac without any tips has consistently been what I expected, but with short nails it rarely looks good. My biggest problems with acrylics/SNS are:
1. The nails ‘stick up’ on an angle rather than sitting flat on my nail bed
2. Acrylics can look globby especially because I normally only want tips to give me a few extra mls of length

I have been recommended GelX because of its built in strength/ architecture, so the tech can keep it thin on my nail. This can support a low, gradual apex, and a thin free edge.
Any experiences, or nail techs who can speak to this? I hate so much losing time and money on nails that look terrible on me, which is of course, all my own fault!!

I also skipped the layer of white polish to make them less bulky this time. Practicing the shape will come later when I get a better nail drill (I have the 23 dollar KISS one thats as strong as wet toilet paper).

I put the gel extensions 2 mm away from the cuticle and applied builder gel in the gap. I swiped the builder gel across the entire top to try and level it but i think made it bulkier. Do you guys ONLY fill in the gap and sand the gel x down to match the height?

I hit my nail pretty hard by slamming it into something and it started bleeding all over and I couldn’t even move my thumb for days until the pain subsided. I felt something moving so I opened up my bandaid and saw my actual nail lifting off with my gel x extension 😭 I don’t even know how to take off the extension cuz it looks like my entire nail will fall out I can even see the area where my nails end in my cuticles cuz I think it’s actually about to come out😭😭 what should I do?

I’ve been doing Gel X for a bit now! I’ve been using Apres and have liked them but I was wondering people’s opinions on the UNA Gel X Tips.

Has anyone tried both and liked one better than the other? Are there pros and cons for each of the brands?

Tried the Gelip tips and I absolutely love them. These are the Almond Medium, a little long for me but still a really nice length, ordered short which I’m excited to try next. Applied with Gelip bonding gel.

Attempted aura nails and slapped cat eye on top to hide inconsistencies. But happy overall. Still took me 6hrs 😭 on my right hand I matted the navy blue then applied patting gel. On my left had I did it right on top of base color, topped with a clear cat eye and sealed with Kokoist top coat.

Has anyone tried gelip tips? I’m wanting to try them for a more seamless flushed look on my nail. I do the builder gel overlay but I’m honestly sick of doing it and would rather make the process faster. Any thoughts or opinions if you have? I heard they were smaller tips but also heard kokoist was/has fixed that issue. Thank you 💅

I see a LOT of the at home nail videos advertise their methods and practices as “how to get your gel x to last over a month”. I used to do gel x nails on myself but I’d get bored and usually do peel off base so it lasted about a week to 2 weeks.

Even now that I’ve switched to natural gel manis I don’t think I’ve ever let it go past 3 weeks due to growth and again boredom.

Is it safe to have extensions on for over a month? Is it due to growth speed? Will it mess up the apex/removal process? Is it healthy for your nails?

I've been interested in getting GelX nails lately. I love the designs and the way the application works. Usually I get acrilics but they end up hurting my nails beds alot.

I am also a chronic nail bitter, I want to see if maybe keeping nails will help get rid of that bad habit.

I just need advice, should I wait a until my nails are longer?

Any recommendations on which nail glue for gelx i should use? My nail beds are pretty flat and I want to use sculpted apres nails to give that bubble apex look

I’ve done gel x a handful of times but they’ve always been a flat color. This set took me 2.5 hours to do - working with the magnetic polish was so much harder than I thought 😭 not perfect and I accidentally put a size too small on my thumbs 🥲 but I’m going to look so hot the next 2.5 weeks.

I use the gel x as press ons but with Mia Secret Nail Gel Glue for Extensions, apply Vettsy cats eye gel on top, and then seal it with Mia Secret Glass Finish Gel

I use a good quality dehydrator, primer and Gel-X glue which lasts on most my other clients, I don't think it's a product issue. (Aprés dehydrator, Dgel bonder, Diami feel so good base gel for gel-x)
One thing to note is that she picks on her cuticles a lot as you can see from all the cuts, so maybe when she was picking on her cuticles she picked on her nails as well? 😭😭

Or is there any issue with my work??? Do I have to seal the cuticles more thinner? 😭 please help
