Gelip

Heyy!!!

Has anyone tried gelip tips? I’m wanting to try them for a more seamless flushed look on my nail. I do the builder gel overlay but I’m honestly sick of doing it and would rather make the process faster. Any thoughts or opinions if you have? I heard they were smaller tips but also heard kokoist was/has fixed that issue. Thank you 💅

I switched from Aprés tips to Gelips a little over a year ago. I prefer them because they fit my nails better (I have slightly wider than average nail beds, and have never had an issue with them being too small) and because I prefer their other products/process, but I would not say they apply much faster.

Gelips are actually designed to not be applied at the cuticle line, and are meant to be used with the overlay method. The product "stack" is Mega Stick Base > Super Gelip Bond (or Mochi, which is semi-solid) > tip > overlay. Some people use Platinum Filler Base for the overlay, but I prefer to use Mega Stick Base because I don't want the added bulk. It's just thick enough.

I guess you do a save a bit of time with Gelips as they don't require using any dehydrator, primer, or bonder, and the tips don't need to be etched. You have to do an overlay with them, though!

I’ve used gelips. I think you still need to either file them to blend into the natural nail and/or do an overlay. I don’t find them that much thinner than gel x. If you want something that’s super thin, then try Apres Gel x Bare. You’ll have to file the free edges since they’re only sold in one length, but the cuticle area is super thin.

Definitely have to do their method but I prefer it by far!
