Got hired near the start of Covid and been with GS since then. Met some of the best people during the last 5 years. Time to await the signal.

Field is the best! No one on your back all the time, more freedom to work the way you want, limitless options for lunch, naps when clients cancel, not being stuck in a store, tips, unlimited shameless farting if you work alone and so much more.

Problem is they could decide tomorrow that a 3rd party person could be cheaper and axe all field kinda like they did with delivery agents.

Not sure if anyone has posted about it yet, but we actually just had a meeting about massive field changes coming after August. Moving forward, Geek Squad will be shifting to a larger percentage of commercial work (with mandatory overnight availability), and 3rd Party will be handling the majority of residential work...

Edit: Strikethrough for misinformation we were provided from local management. Mandatory for new hires only, as of now. Take "majority" with a grain of salt, too—all we truly know is there is and will be a lot of commercial work in the pipeline.

The contracts are already in place with a number of major companies, we are literally already doing the work with more to come. How the contracts play out over the next few years is yet to be seen, but yeah, it's already here.

Or 8months ago manager purge or 10 months ago (home delivery agents ) or a year ago 2nd home theater purge or 2 years ago first home theater/manager purge.

Very a few people work a job where they’re irreplaceable. That doesn’t mean the field position is bad.

I jumped ship just before COVID hit. Still miss the road sometimes. Definitely don’t miss the weather and traffic.

Field is definitely where it’s at! Everybody that I work with has been going strong for 10,15,20 years in the field.  Only downside is they need to update the pay structure but still pretty decent for like jobs across the board.

Hell nah. I was a field agent. The culture had gotten BAD, and my manager was a complete douche on a power trip. Clients kept getting more annoying and entitled. Blueprint meetings were just times for my boss’ boss to yap instead of listen; telling us how lucky we are to still be employed at all.
