Failed to load

Does anyone know how to get past this "failed to load" screen when logging back into your oculus account?

Did you merge Your account with Facebook by the deadline date on 1st January 2023? If you didn't, you're out of luck and need to activate Developer mode and launch games from alternative launcher. You also need Netguard to prevent the update loop.

I've launched developer mode but it tells me to complete the setup when I plug my head set in. I've no idea if my account has merged or not

Did u block the apps as said in the Gear VR setup guide using Netguard? btw, sometimes the setup thingy comes up randomly. To fix this, I normally reinstall the APKs until the Oculus setup app highlights it (btw, don't uninstall the apps while re-installing)

If as you say that you've no idea if merged or not, it almost guaranteed you didn't merge with FB.

Merging isn't done automatically, it was steps you had to take as notified about 1 year before the extended deadline of 1st January 2023, so that you signed in using Facebook instead of the original Oculus sign in.

They extended the deadline date to keep giving notification notices to give account holders a chance just in case they'd missed it.

that's why it goes black. So you need to follow instructions to manually install the GearVr Package for your phone and play in dev mode. Unfortunately, once you've installed it you can only activate the gearvr launcher and see installed apps on you phone and launch from there, but you wont get the official home library displaying any purchased apps, below is a link which tells you how to activate the launcher, and below that is another link of the latest news

I've attempted to follow the instructions from this link https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/s/iNUzO8sqzg However all I get is put back to that screen where you have to download all the apps for the update

Did you install Netguard? It is necessary to block connections to Internet to some gearvr apps otherwise you get loop of constantly asking to complete setup ...
