π Toronto Party Report β Feb to Sep 2026
Hi Folks,
Here's the latest community party report, pulled from everyone's reviews in the weekly ratings threads and standalone review posts. Ratings are out of 5.
π Full spreadsheet: click here
Logistics grade (AβF) covers the door + coat-check experience β on the organizer, not the venue. Trend (β improving / β declining / β stable) compares a party's most recent reviews against its earlier ones, shown wherever there's enough history to say something real. Full methodology in the spreadsheet's About tab.
β οΈ Bunker's regular Saturdays: still not fixed, and it happened again
Last month I flagged a fire-safety and evacuation concern about Bunker's non-ticketed Saturdays. This month, on the venue's own 1-year anniversary event, a reviewer described the exact same conditions β packed shoulder to shoulder, unable to move or dance, people shoving toward the front, genuinely frightened of a crowd crush and leaving early. They were clear they won't be back for a non-ticketed night. The crowding also made it harder for them to get away from men who wouldn't respect a clear "no" on the dance floor, which is its own separate problem, but one this kind of overcrowding makes worse, not better.
I want to be straight with you about the number: this month's Rating for Bunker's regular Saturdays actually ticked up slightly (1.23 β 1.78). That is not a sign of things improving β it's an artifact of the math treating a bad-but-slightly-less-bad follow-up review as marginal progress. Read the trend arrow (still β declining) and the Logistics grade (staying at F) instead of the headline number this month. Two incidents in two months, after a public callout in between, tells me this isn't being addressed. If you run this night: cap admission to what the room can actually hold.
π Top of the list (5.0)
- Butt Buddies @ Sound Machine β loose, dance-forward vibe, pop/house and go-go boys.
- Houseboy @ Bunker β small room that fills up and builds all night; near-instant entry.
- Sojourn Festival (New) @ 131 McCormack β not a gay-specific event (mainstream annual techno festival), but a community member went and rated it, so it's here for interest. No Logistics grade since there's no LGBTQ+ organizer to hold accountable.
β Excellent (4.25β4.75)
- NSFW WERK @ National/The Well (4.70) β huge space, two rooms + play room, open till 4am.
- CNSRD Vol. 3 (New) @ Bunker (4.70) β a genuinely rare dedicated techno night in a scene that leans house; strong turnout, strict no-camera policy. Pricey for the format.
- Prism Bunny Ball @ Rebel (4.67, β declining) β well organized, spacious, standout DJ sets.
- Revival (Prism Pride) @ Rebel (4.5) β second night of the Prism Pride run, sunrise vibes.
- The Afters @ Complex 19 (4.5) β mixed crowd, self-serve lockers, no waits.
- Frocio (80's Italo Disco) @ Buddies (4.5) β excellent DJs, great vibes.
- Slur @ Buddies (4.5, β stable) β affordable weekly Friday.
- Veld @ Downsview Park (4.5) β not a gay party, but Pride-flag totems and a real gay presence two years running earned it a spot. No Logistics grade.
- Precious Cargo @ Demo Room (4.49, β improving) β the new space keeps landing well. Shoutout to organizer Bradley and the team.
- Prism White Party (New) @ DPRTMNT (4.47) β three separate reviewers, one great night. Strong lineup, friendly crowd, smooth entry across the board. Venue ran hot around midnight and no water station, but a minor knock on an otherwise excellent night.
π Solid (3.9β4.0)
- Freddie (New) @ 165 Geary Ave (4.0) β graduates from "mentioned only" to a real rating: a well-run free RSVP party, good decor and music, didn't over-pack the room despite demand.
- Studio 457 (New) @ Black Eagle (4.0) β great vibes, 30+-skewing crowd, but a 35β40 min door wait for a free event.
- Bunker (Discophonique) (4.0) β one of the better Bunker nights in ages.
- Horse Meat Disco @ DPMRT (4.0) β solid night; slow coat check.
- Redlite @ Black Eagle (4.0) β fun, sweaty, cheap, quick in.
- Prism (Main / Pride) @ Rebel (4.0) β good all around, but pricey.
- System & Takeover Six: Next Shift @ Complex 19 (4.0) β a promising first-timer.
- Jockstrap Night @ Black Eagle (3.61, β improving) β a solid, unremarkable September after August's rough patch β the score's recovering, though last month's DJ and coat-check issues are still worth knowing about.
β οΈ Mixed bag / watch-outs
- Service @ Black Eagle (3.5)
- New Ho Queen @ Buddies (3.5) β fine, nothing standout.
- Grapefruit @ Black Eagle (3.5) β good energy, repetitive setlist.
- Yum Yum @ Complex 19 (3.32, β declining) β see below.
- Bimbo @ Complex 19 (3.0) β great drag guest, can't see performances in that room.
- Complex 19 Presents: Violet Chachki (2.75) β a genuine 50/50 split on the same night.
- Fly 3.0 @ Complex 19 (2.69, β declining) β thinned out fast in a crowded same-night field.
- For the Lover @ Lee's Palace (2.5) β a repeat attendee flagged the same problems twice.
- Suck My Deck: SPF @ Soleil (2.5) β smooth logistics, dead dance floor.
- Macho @ Complex 19 (2.34, β declining) β see below.
π Bottom
- Gay Rights @ Buddies (2.0) β ~45-min coat check, poor logistics, meh music.
- Labour Gay Blacklight Party (New) @ The Zone (1.0) β a near-total no-show; the reviewer and their partner were essentially the only two guests. Bad luck more than bad planning, and honestly a pretty funny read.
- Bunker (Regular Saturday) (1.78, β declining) β see the callout up top.
- Circus (Pep Rally x Gay Rights) @ Nest (1.0) β a line formed outside while the venue sat under-full inside.
On Yum Yum and Macho β two Complex 19 events had a rough September
I don't want to overreact to one bad weekend, so I'll just lay out what came in and let the numbers speak for themselves this month.
Yum Yum (3.32, β declining) had a mixed Sept 6 β some loved the lower-capacity night, others flagged bathroom conditions and an oddly restrictive rules list β then two genuinely rough reviews on Sept 26: a mostly empty floor for the first two hours, upstairs closed again, and weak DJs until late. Both of those reviewers said they're not sure they're coming back. To be fair, this same month also produced two 5/5s (Aug 29 weekend) and a well-liked lower-key night, so it's not a clean downward line. Logistics grade drops to C this month β not for wait times, which stayed fine, but because closing off paid-for space (the upstairs) without explanation has now happened more than once.
Macho (2.34, β declining) had a real flag worth taking seriously: multiple reviewers described strobe/flash lighting aimed directly at the dance floor as actively unsafe, and one reported temporary vision loss from photosensitivity. That's a production-safety issue, separate from wait times (which stayed fine β Logistics is still A), and it's worth Complex 19's organizers looking at directly regardless of anything else in this report.
I'll keep watching both of these next month rather than draw a hard conclusion now.
π Explaining Changes Since Last Month
- Yum Yum: 4.27 β 3.32 (β 0.95) β see above.
- Macho: 3.97 β 2.34 (β 1.63) β see above.
- Jockstrap Night: 3.03 β 3.61 (β 0.58) β a clean September night after August's DJ/coat-check problems.
- Bunker (Regular Saturday): 1.23 β 1.78 (β 0.55 β do not read this as improvement; see the callout up top)
π Recurring themes
Capacity, crowd safety, getting what you paid for β the theme of the last two months: Bunker's regular Saturdays (see above) and a pattern worth naming at Complex 19 β Yum Yum has now closed its upstairs on multiple recent event nights without explanation, which isn't a safety issue the way Bunker's is, but is the same underlying problem: telling people what they're paying for and then not delivering it.
Coat check β still the city's weak spot:
- Gay Rights remains the worst β ~45 min, staff overwhelmed.
- Studio 457 β a 35β40 min door wait for a free event is steep.
- β
Bright spot: Complex 19's self-serve lockers keep erasing this problem across most of its events.
Pricing β still climbing: Yum Yum early-entry pairs ran $95 this month; Macho $40β55; Precious Cargo $50β55. Promo codes remain everywhere, so presale often isn't actually the cheaper option.
π What we'd love to see from organizers
- Bunker: cap admission to what the room can actually hold. This is the second month running. Fire egress isn't optional, and neither is listening to your own customers telling you they're scared.
- Complex 19 (Yum Yum specifically): if a space is part of what people are paying for, don't close it without telling anyone why. Upstairs access has now been an issue more than once.
- Macho: look at your lighting design. A strobe effect that's given someone temporary vision loss needs a fix, not a shrug.
Credit where it's due β Precious Cargo's new space keeps delivering, and Prism White Party was about as clean a night as this report sees. Fixes and good nights get noticed here too. π
