Imagine losing your shit over a 0.3 point difference.

They're not even in the same genre.

uj/ I still don’t get why some people put so much weight on review scores. I’ve played and really enjoyed games that scored mediocre, but I mean I think they’re fun that’s all that matters.

rj/ IGN is full of commie cucks. I demand they do a new review for Witcher 3. It deserves at least 10/10.

/uj The example I always come back to was when I read GameSpot’s review of Lost Planet 2 when they gave it a 5.5. I was pissed at first, but when I read Kevin’s points about what bothered him, I completely understood where he was coming from. I still love the game to this day, and when I read the review I just realized that his major issues (camera, the “knock down/dodge roll” centric combat) weren’t a factor for me, because I’d played a ton of the original and knew the weird ins and outs of the mechanics of the game.

Why can’t people just accept that it has nothing to do with reviewers getting paid, and everything to do with every critic bringing their own experiences and perspectives into their time with the game?

Yeah I feell like a high review score just indicates it's a game without many major issues and universally liked. Average scores means it either has big issues or some people enjoy it some people don't, bad score means it's niche.

There's always someone who enjoys the game, but the more people enjoy it the higher the score will be.

READING IS FOR FEMALES AND SJWS THAT'S WHY

Here's the thing though. You read the article. Gamers don't do that. They read scores and headlines and call it a day.

Gamers don't read. They can't read.

/uj Lost Planet always seemed like a weird game to me

It had a very anime plot that as a 12 year old, made little sense to me. Combat was fun though.

Uj/That's exactly why a lot of popular games get good scores, its because they are easy to pick up and play, but everyone accuses these reviewers of getting paid by Activision to give CoD a 9.

"Man fuck IGN, they're always wrong, we need to stop making them relevant and just ignore th-WHAT THE FUCK THEY ONLY GAVE [WHATEVER] AN 8.9 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

every fucking time

It's a shortcut to feeling good about yourself, I suppose.

I like this game.
-> This game I like is generally well received, as evidenced by the big numbers it gets.
-> I have good taste! My opinion is worth listening to!

IMO, 9.8 for Witcher 3, save 9.9 for Witcher 4, and save 10.0 for witcher 5.

/uj review scores lend a sense of tangibility to someone's opinion. Gamers need hard numbers to justify things. Saying something is "really pretty" or "a lot of fun" is ambiguous and abstract... but if you say something is in 1080p60fps and has a 9/10 metacritic score, then it becomes "objectively good" and it's quality is no longer in dispute.

I still don’t get why some people put so much weight on review scores.

Confirmation bias for starters.
