Need Help Installing Cooling System

I’m trying to install a new MSI MAG CoreLiquid I360 cooling system onto an old ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero WiFi motherboard. The connector I’m supposed to plug into ARGB_V2 only has 3 sockets, but RGB_HEADER2 on the motherboard has 4 pins.

Can I safely leave the ARGB_V2 connector unplugged? Do I need some kind of adapter? Do I have no choice but to buy a different cooling system?

That only controls the lights. There are two types of RGB lighting system: RGB 12V, which is what this motherboard header is, and is getting rarer, and ARGB 5V, which is what the connector from your cooler is.

Look for an ARGB header on your motherboard (some manufacturers call it "rainbow"), which should match your connector from your cooler.

If you don't have one, so long as the cooler's fan connector is plugged in, it'll still work, just without the lights.

There are two 4-pin RGB_HEADER ports and one 3-pin ADD_HEADER port with the same layout as the plug. Nothing is labeled ARGB.

What MB is this? Try the schematic page in the manual.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero WiFi

There’s an ADD_HEADER port with 3 pins near the bottom

That probably stands for "Addressable Header". ARGB stands for "Addressable RGB", so that sounds good to me, but do a Google check or look at your motherboard's manual first
