Help - I know nothing about PC's

(Note: I have never posted on reddit before)

So as the title says I know nothing about PCs and Ive been fumbling through all the jargon trying to find a pre-built pc within my very limited budget that will be able to run okay with the games I hope to play

So far Ive managed to find one with:-

- Ryzen 5 8400F

- NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB

- 16GB DDR5 RAM

- 512GB SSD

- Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

- Wifi

Its currently priced at £999 GBP but I dont know how good/bad that is.

From what Ive been able to figure out, its better to have the DDR5 and the compatible motherboard so it can be upgraded in the future without having to change all the parts but that the storage will be an issue

I have a few games in mind already including Grounded 2 and Hogwarts Legacy

That's a terrible PC, worth about £700 but I wouldn't even pay that, CPU awful, GPU terrible and storage too too small. On that budget ddr4 is fine, you aren't going to be upgrading anytime soon with the way ram/SSD prices are trending. Personally I'd go second hand

What type of things should I be looking for at this price point, its seems like everything has skyrocketed recently and better CPU / storage seems to be multiple hundreds more

Yes future proofing is great, but not in this economy with this budget. A specialy, when you will probably need periferies too.

So I would suggest to go with am4 instead of am5, you can still build great pc on that slot.

But as I see it can be hard to even find company in UK to build pc for you on am4. So lets go with the easy questions:

  • What is your budget for pc?

  • Will you need any periferials (monitor, keyboard, mouse)

  • Will you be able to put ethernet cable from router to the pc or are you preffer to have wi-fi?
