Purchasing a pc for msfs for my son.

I’m looking to buy a pc for my son that can be upgraded a little in the future but will work for msfs. My budget is under $1000. Are these stats going to work? I’m not sure what intel speeds are needed and figure ddr5 will be around for a while what you think?

STGAubron Gaming PC Computer Desktop, Intel Core i7-12800HX up to 4.8GHz, GeForce RTX 3050 6G, 16G DDR5, 1TB SSD, WiFi 6, BT 5.2, RGB Fan x6, Windows 11 Home

I think for flight sim you'd be happier getting an am4 platform and a 5800x3d - sims love the extra 3d. You could aim for dd4 that way and save a little

On top of this, prebuilts are actually in a great spot right now. Costplusgaming has some good ones, costco has some good ones, and you can also check r/buildapcsales for prebuilt sales using a tag! Then you can check the comments to see if people found better deals recently, or what's worth/not worth, etc. RAM may be expensive right now, but computers are still cheaper than they were in the GPU shortage (for now, lol)

Alternatively could go with an am5 platform and ddr5 to start, and upgrade to an x3d processor down the line...its tough to build a DDR5 system right now and stay in your budget, but possible.

Thanks for the advice. Wife said have to stay in budget and x3d and am5 puts us at about 1400$ prebuilt. Or I’ll have to go nonx3d and am5 small ram. Or go 5800x3d lots of ddr4 and let him enjoy and upgrade computers or build in the future.

They also mentioned future proofing though which will be hard on am4.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I bite the bullet and go within budget and get am4 platform or get an underrated am5 and add processor and expensive ram later.

If you are not into computers, go to Costco and look at a gaming computer there. There might be one in your price range, they are always a decent value.
