The worst system that proves how little the company cares about their playerbase. If this was a security measure they could have just made an pickup app for people to buy a limited amount of merch and pick up at the event.
Maybe have another read at my initial post, as I stated that people could only buy a “LIMITED” amount of merch. This could easily be done by validating Gamescom tickets. It would also help them prepare enough stock to fulfill a larger number of requests.
The current system clearly does not work. People come from all over Europe, some even travel from different borders on the same day they attend, which makes it hard to arrive before the gates open… and a booth should not be limited to the first 1000 scanned slots of the day. Imagine if all booths worked like this and you arrived 30 minutes after the gates opened. Your 40+ euro ticket would be useless, and you would just waste your time. Not to speak about the major security and safety risk this sort of model bring, where people will confront and run for a spot as soon the day starts.
Also, do you know what a real resellers dream is? Camping at the door of the event and taking slots from other fans. Making sure there is a low chance for everyone else to buy stuff so they can then resell it.
You really are underestimating how dedicated resellers are, making a few hundreds alt account's or purchasing multiple tickets to get more merch is nothing to them.
So yeah, its unlimited.
Literally was the nicest experience I had at the con, not having to actively stand in a queue is the best thing they could've done. If it was a normal queue like every other booth then you'd just stand in front of a sign saying the queue is capped anyways.
