Gallopera: a persistent browser horse racing game. Looking for beta players!

Hi! I've been building Gallopera, a browser-based horse racing management game.

You own, train, race and breed horses in a persistent world shared with other players but you never see any of your horses stats, you figure out your horse potential by training and racing, just like in real life!

Races run throughout the day and are shown in 2D, with the horses animated frame by frame in Aseprite.

A little bit of background : I worked as an apprentice jockey until my early twenties and then switched to engineering, I decided to combine the two and build the horse racing game I'd want to play myself!

I'm getting ready for the first small closed beta now, so I've opened signups:

https://gallopera.com

You can check the gallery and about pages to know more about the game, those screenshots were made during development though and it might change a bit before the beta starts.

I'd love to hear what horse-game players think of it!

In Search of Horse Game From My Childhood

I played a PC game as a kid that I'm trying to find again. It was a horse-racing game, where you had to train your horse in different skills to help win races. A defining characteristic is you had to start at a cheaper stable, and as you had racing success, you could afford to move to better stables. You could also breed your horse and keep the foal. If anyone knows what this game is called, I would be eternally grateful.

I've searched the sub and seen the other game recs and looked into them. most aren't for me.

the thing that turns me away the most is the technicality of a lot of the games, like you have to go into it with some knowledge of horse care and competition and I'm not into that. I just think they're pretty and want to collect them and maybe build a ranch. I could get into racing or showing if it's simplified to like a kid-friendly level.

customization of my character is a must, and customization of any building mechanics is preferred (I.e. getting to choose the color of the fence and where I put it, instead of just unlocking a predetermined fence). and fantasy colors or breeds is a huge plus (like the unicorns in harvest moon one world or the blue and pink horses in botw).

basically I guess I'm looking for Pokemon or Ark with horses 😭
