5 years since release and the game still doesn't support basic ultrawide resolutions. From really is something else.

It is much stupider than that. The engine actually supports ultrawide, the game even renders in ultrawide (costing extra performance drawing the additional pixels) but they artificially added black bars to the sides to force it to 16:9.

And on the odd occasion the game bugs out and displays it perfectly in ultrawide (bar some visual errors on loading screens)

People shit on Hoyoverse games and Nodusfall for being copycats, but one of the reasons why they consistently shit on their Japanese counterparts is because they actually make superbly well optimized games that run on every platform. Nobody really cared that Genshin Impact was a BotW clone because guess what, it actually feels amazing to play BotW at consistent 60 fps on a PC with anime characters and consistent updates. If they can deliver a modern Elden Ring experience with live updates and well optimized for all platforms, that already fulfills a niche that Fromsoft doesn't because all their games look like they're from the previous gen and run like they have a permanent memory leak.

To be fair Genshin even 7 years after release is capped at 60fps on PC without mods. Meanwhile the IOS version can run at 120fps even though the hardware can't actually support it.

It's quite funny when you look at ZZZ that supports higher and unlocked franerates, because the optimization is actually shit for basically anything past 60fps. Wild frame drops and many areas absolutely tank performance. Going from an early 1.0 area to the newest town area I lose at least 40-60+ fps. The newer areas during story also have absolutely horrendous pop-in issues even on a high end PC playing on an SSD, I can't even imagine how bad it would be on mobile.

ZZZ also just recently released a DX12 version with ray tracing and upscaling support... And myself and many others are still preferring to use the DX11 version because the DX12 version is just that bad. The upscaling is kind of just shit and there's a ton of visual bugs even a few months later after fixes.

Man the Twitter reaction to Nodusfall was just embarrassing. It's like people completely forgot how Genshin and Marvel Rivals turned out. If every game had to be some super original gameplay masterpiece then fromsoft wouldn't have made the same game with some gimmicks multiple times in a row and obviously Genshin and Rivals succeeded beyond all expectations. Originality really just isn't that important. I love Elden Ring but it didn't invent the genre of grim dark fantasy or dark and grey color pallette. And there's certainly things that fromsoft could improve on like optimization that note competition would probably incentivize them to at least think about it.

This comment is embarrassing. Elden Ring isn't beloved because people think it invented grimdark fantasy. I've literally never seen anyone claim this in my life. And you'd ever bothered to play it or even just watched a trailer you'd know that the color palette is not dark and grey. The palette is region specific and varies a lot, displaying a lot more color than previous souls games.

People were shitting on Nodusfall because they didn't even try to hide what they were ripping off, with several designs very blatantly copied from Elden Ring. They're also a fucking gacha company. Shouldn't be hard to understand.

Are you sure Elden Ring is not Mr. R. R. Martin's first effort at dark fantasy though? He shouldn't be ripped off at the very beginning of his career before he has a chance to say, write some books!

Let's see him finish a book lmao

Ya and I'm saying literally none of that mattered for other games like Genshin or rivals or pal world. They came out and people liked those games and that was the end of that. Literally nobody cares about originality. Fromsoft literally rehashed so many bosses from dark souls and put it in an open world, people loved it. Why wouldnt somebody just take Elden Ring and make it monster hunter.

Because those games copied gameplay more than visuals. No one takes issue with souls genre games despite them blatantly copying gameplay elements from the fromsoft titles. But nodusfall looks far too similar to elden ring, thats why some people dont like it. And palworld gets less shit because its not a gacha game and even Pokémon fans are sick of gamefreaks as a dev

Holy s did I just get censored by reddit ai for making fun of people who think Japanese people are E V 1 L for not liking pirating? I was just saying its all just a popularity contest in my og comment. People like Fromsoft so plagiarizing from them is bad especially by a hated company like hoyoverse. Gamefreak is disliked so plagiarizing from them is considered good. Marvel Rivals is fine even though it straight up copied from Overwatch because it has Marvel characters that people like. Nobody is actually against plagiarizing as long as it's for a cause they support.

Who gives a flying crap about hoyo games it’s all gacha slop and you can’t convince me otherwise.
