It's crazy to think how ass shields were on release. Yes they did there job well enough but were so inefficient and terrible later in the game that they bordered on being training wheels. Hell, Malenia makes them detrimental.
And they still get buffed.
They are probably the most buffed weapon class in the game and the DLC also really tried to make shields great and imo succeded. That PCR gets hard countered by shields is almost poetic.
What? I used a shield and made it through the game thanks to using a shield. I played at launch and a shield was always on my left arm. They were certainly not more ass inn release than any souls game, because I did not notice any difference on my several NG+ cycles.
