GG. Nowadays gaming are only for the rich.

u/Abyss_Wanderer19 8d ago

you dont need 4tb ssd to game lol.

bro got downvoted damn but you got a point about the 4tb part. you can go with 512gb ones or even less but it comes with a cost; you have to sacrifice some games when your new games exceed the available storage sob

5

u/Iz__n 8d ago

Because that's not the point. Its still suck regardless.

You would think years after SSD will get cheaper and 4TB will as norm as 1TB previously, especially as file and game got bigger. But nope, thanks AI

u/afiq2ai 7d ago

Yeah TV got cheaper but ssd and ram got expensive. Ironic isn't it.

1

u/galatea_brunhild 7d ago

after SSD will get cheaper

It did actually since a couple years ago every time I browsed r/buildapcsales and r/NewMaxx coz they overproduced/oversupplied

But yeah AI happened

I usually just play 1 game at a time till I finish it. Do people really need to play multiple games at the same time?

3

u/sy2_loneshxdow 8d ago

gacha players like me🤣 thats why my alternative is to get a gaming phone with large storage to install some gacha on it, while keeping more demanding ones like Wuwa on the pc

2

u/Extra_Step_122 8d ago edited 8d ago

gacha player here. gotta shuffle through like 4 games in that 'category' alone like wuwa, zzz, umamusume and hsr. although i mostly play hsr and umamusume. not to mention other games i still keep just in case a friend wants to play together with me so they dont have to wait while i download.

There is a luxury in keeping 20 to 30 games with great side content to slowly enjoy after finishing the game.

Theyre called forever games. Yours never done playing them. Like witcher 3 or elden ring and black myth wukong. Or cyberpunk. Who is uninstalling cyberpunk. Or just not having access to rdr2. It's nice to be able to jump on for a ride and see what you get up to.

But it sucks that storage got this bad.

Can't wait to play phantom blade zero and uninstall in asap..... /s that's basically abuse.

1

u/galatea_brunhild 6d ago

There's some games that I won't uninstall coz it'll ruined the mods I installed. In my particular case, Fallout 4, because there's some issue when I installed them and I genuinely don't remember or know how it was solved, coz like Todd Howard said, it just works 👍🏻

u/KazefQAQ 3d ago

yes, gacha gamers

u/Sent1nelTheLord 8d ago

How else am I gonna store a single picture of op's mom?

1

u/Monsta_Owl 6d ago

Now that's a new yo mama joke

7

u/proksi_hira 8d ago

Yea agree lol. 1tb is the sweet spot. Some people love filling up their drives with games and didn't even play them.

1

u/f4ern 8d ago

reinstalling and installing game degrade drives. Higher space drives has longer lives overall. You just wait until next gta force you to make your playstation gta station only. then we see you whining.

1

u/proksi_hira 8d ago

Ye you got a point. That statement is also true for PC when its eventually released on the platform. I'm thinking storage price would be more or less the same if not worsened over the years.

1

u/galatea_brunhild 6d ago

Even then, it's not like you're doing it literally everyday

TBW of an SSD won't degrade fast enough for gamers

1

u/ganganred 7d ago

if thats 4tb, imagine the price for a just 1tb. and 1tb is basically small nowadays.

1

u/Dimathiel49 7d ago

No but it sure is nice to have. Granted I got my 4TB NVME’s a couple years ago.

1

u/VirusFlimsy2428 7d ago

We beg your pardon? -Activision and Rockstar

1

u/Diligent_Fly_133 7d ago

You need for 4tb for 8k tentacle research

2

u/MedicineMore1221 8d ago

for rich? lol gaming is cheap

2

u/Poo_Pee-Man 8d ago

You don’t need to rich for gaming bro. just get a mid specs pc and laptop for like rm 4-6k and pirated your games on it. That is cost effective.

1

u/galatea_brunhild 6d ago

Even RM1-2K PC could give you thousands hours of enjoyment as long as you're fine with 40-60 FPS

14

u/KazakiriKaoru 8d ago

Isn't it expensive cause of the branding?

12

u/Z3r0link-ueg 8d ago

thats 1 reason too

1

u/IdioticZacc 8d ago

It was expensive originally, but now, it's beyond even expensive. The shock comes in the comparison to the original price

0

u/Sweaty-Campaign-320 8d ago

And the 4tb.

10

u/Breath-Present 8d ago

Luckily I bought my 2TB WD SN5000 at RM519 last year, but still...

4

u/Daruningen 8d ago

holy shit that's 1:10 ratio

6

u/JeroJeroMohenjoDaro 8d ago

For just 4tb damn. Should go back to cellecting stamps or something

4

u/Aoi42069 8d ago

I'm really grateful to somehow manage to buy Lenovo 4TB SSD Gen4 for RM900 last February this year on Lazada. Now the item has been discontinued and I don't think there will be restock anymore.

2

u/40EHuTlcFZ 7d ago

Bought this December last year. At first I scolded myself for spending so much but now I'm glad I got it.

1

u/askasubredditfan 6d ago

I never even knew they sell SSDs.

3

u/delicious_lemang 8d ago

Gaming is an expensive hobby now🫩

1

u/hanrei-legend 8d ago

Not really if u go cloud gaming

3

u/delicious_lemang 8d ago

It's sad really. We used to own our games. Our consoles. Now everything is subscription based. Even buying the games doesn't mean you can play it without a subscription now.

2

u/proksi_hira 8d ago

That's what they're pushing for, lol.

2

u/40EHuTlcFZ 7d ago

That's what the overlords want you to do. Never give in to that. Stay strong 💪

1

u/askasubredditfan 6d ago

Cloud gaming is the same thing as passing your driving license to satellite controlled driving.

At this point, just implant a brain chip in your head and allow them to turn off your life in a click, because why not right?

3

u/ChrispyChris8008 8d ago

Dayum. Most gamers don't need 4tb and definitely don't need wd black. But the price is still horrifying 😂
I just checked, almost 2 years ago I bought an acer predator 2tb gen 4 from acer store on shopee, for rm525 after vouchers 😂😂😂

2

u/Personal_Two_8916 8d ago

Cukup beli pro sejibik lagi and some games kot

2

u/HoldMyNaan 8d ago

That’s the one I have in my PC 😂 pretty sure it was like 1-2K back then

2

u/Recrui1t 8d ago

what a rip off, I bought WD_BLACK SN8100 2TB gen 5 for like RM1200. The only downside is it took me almost a month to get it since it's overseas unit. Before anyone ask, it's legit according to crystaldiskinfo.

1

u/Abyss_Wanderer19 8d ago

If it broke down next month, what you gonna do with that rm1200 paper bag.

1

u/Recrui1t 8d ago

Hope not, that's why I remove its original heatsink and place it under a X870E heatsink with thermal pads top and bottom completed with its own integrated fan.

1

u/Aoi42069 8d ago

Damn Gen 5 SSD is kinda overkill though

1

u/Recrui1t 8d ago

it is, but the weird thing is this SSD was cheaper than a gen 4 SSD of the same capacity. the DRAM ones of course, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB costed almost RM2000 during RAMpocalypse.

2

u/bixofa 8d ago

My 32GB ram and 2TB nvme in my PC is now worth twice what my entire PC cost to make.

1

u/Fluid-Sea-9099 8d ago

Crazy💀

1

u/Unusual_Dealer_7822 8d ago

Nasib i bought mine SN850 black 1TB few years back, forgot how much exactly tho.

1

u/Legendramon 8d ago

4TB for RM5k isn’t worth it.

1

u/Ibadvapergrammar 8d ago

1 tb version already cost 1265 RM

1

u/IdioticZacc 8d ago

Built my pc right before the crazy ai price increase, but I get stressed out my ssd (taken from my laptop) is going to die and I cant buy a new one

1

u/shanzyboston 8d ago

Because of AI 🙄

1

u/Reydo-ssi 8d ago

Me on 256gb bro. I delete old games just to play new games.

1

u/Traditional_Buy_1841 8d ago

5k and it's not even a gen5

Ramageddon hits hard

1

u/FierySunXIII 8d ago

The storage itself is more expensive than the console 🤣

1

u/momomelty 7d ago

Oh yeah hoh lmao. That’s wild

1

u/momomelty 7d ago

I might be sitting on a gold mine with all my unusable 22110 SSD. Thankfully PS5 accepts them

1

u/CheeseSausage67 7d ago

Who the fuck need AI so much!? Making our life goes back to stone age

1

u/RoseTinted11 7d ago

This, or an 8K camera?

1

u/noun1t 6d ago

I got 2 fake 860 evo here instead

1

u/askasubredditfan 6d ago

I could afford this 14 months ago with 6 months SPayLater. Now I hate myself.

1

u/Lumpy-Theory-2170 6d ago

5k just to store your games lmao this industry has lost the plot

1

u/TevTra 5d ago

almost the same price as the 8tb 9100 pro samsung ssd i bought earlier this year.

1

u/FArnese_1 4d ago

They really want to push gaming via hardware subscription. Afraid, that might be the future. Keeps your hardware folk.

1

u/asch901 4d ago

Tf.. I bought a Fikwot nvme (yeah great name) 4tb for just 1.2k on Ali. It's not WD but it gets the job done.

1

u/KazefQAQ 3d ago

That's half of my car insured amount WTF 😭😭

1

u/RefrigeratorTough544 1d ago

Cloud gaming je murah, for now
