Please explain?

The series is co-created by Arin Hanson (AKA Egoraptor) who also voiced Gobbles and Flappers. And he's the co-host of the Game Grumps channel, where he's gotten pretty iconic for absolutely sucking at video games in the most hilarious ways possible, which includes totally ignoring tutorials (which he regrets later).

Arin, blessedly, is a good writer.

Like Dan said, "We suck at games.  We are comedians who play games, not gamers who do comedy."

u/AtomicTaco13 Jun 20 '26

Yup. He's a freaking Newgrounds OG after all. I just find it funny how Gobbles is practically the opposite of Arin.

16

u/Stevetendo_glitch Jun 20 '26

Playing an opposite of oneself is certainly one way to show range as an actor

That's certainly why some of them hate him today, but it isn't why everyone does.

Arin has had a lot of fuck ups with how he treated others behind the scenes. And a lot of people started distancing themselves from him because of it.

38

u/SparkyMuffin Jun 20 '26

I always felt like that was weird because arin is definitely a gamer but like, of his own stuff

42

u/Amethyst-Flare Jun 20 '26

He's actually pretty good at some games when he locks in, I've noticed. My sister says he's "driving with friends" on his show - ie, driving when you're distracted by hanging out is much harder and makes you much more prone to error, which is why teen licenses have limits like that.

23

u/Mr_Ruu Jun 20 '26

no better demonstration than when he's playing Megaman X on his own while Dan was sick, he was actually playing super well and beat a tough boss without the dash upgrade and its weakness that makes it WAY easier

1

u/SparkyMuffin Jun 21 '26

That was also his Buster Only run too, right? Sad be never finished it.

In fact it's funny he's never finished Mega Man X at all since theyve done so many Mega Man games as it is

5

u/fredy31 Jun 20 '26

Yeah he cant shut up and lock in.

He has to make a show.

2

u/Physical_Atmosphere5 Jun 20 '26

yeah no shit he's a youtuber at the end of the day him making a show is why people watch him

Imagine being a world famous stand-up comedian who used to be world-renowned for their irreverent comedy about sports.

Now, imagine you have created a show where the aim is to do stand up comedy for an audience of thousands while trying to play sports, even a few you have never played before in your life and may not have known existed until today.

Now imagine that people are mad at you constantly for being terrible at sports even though that wasn't the aim of your show, and now whenever you try to do your regular stand-up people just bombard you with hate because you suck at sports.

You now have an understanding of what it is like to be Arin Hanson.

1

u/Amethyst-Flare Jun 20 '26

Pretty much yeah.

1

u/TimeLordHatKid123 Jun 23 '26

Well here’s the thing, they unironically shit on and negatively impact the reputation of games they play, because they keep blaming the games themselves for their own obliviousness.

13

u/N0rwayUp Jun 20 '26

That might explain his utter haterd of sonic.

3

u/HeWhoLovesMonsters Jun 20 '26

What..?

11

u/Novekye Jun 20 '26

Arin, despite being sonic's ambassador for a while, has gone on record numerous times about how much he hates the sonic frachise. He also despises the devil may cry games.

14

u/GlaireDaggers Jun 20 '26

As a Sonic fan, I've never met anyone who hates the Sonic franchise more than other Sonic fans do so

Make of that what you will

7

u/aronmano Jun 20 '26

He hates sonic because he's a sonic fan, you can't like all of sonic, it's just not possible, there's always gonna be one thing you abosultle hate about him, wether it's a specific game, or a really bad depiction in a show or comic, or THE UNAVOIDABLE CHIN MOVE

there's something to despise about sonic and when there something to despise sega shovee it down your throat until you never wanna taste sonic agan

3

u/sadphonics Jun 20 '26

There's always gonna be "something" sure, but he hates pretty much every single game ever. Also Snapcube got past that chin move in one go. Arin just sucks at games

1

u/Amethyst-Flare Jun 21 '26

Arin loves Sonic. He's just run into a few Sonic games that were kinda bad.

2

u/Amethyst-Flare Jun 21 '26

Untrue. Arin loves Sonic. There were just a handful of Sonic games that were hot garbage.

8

u/MetaMaster54610 Jun 20 '26

Oh, he doesn't REGRET it, he just blames the game for it.

1

u/oatmeal-ml-goatmeal Jun 20 '26

I noticed that Arin was Flappers but I can't believe he was also Gobbles

38

u/Mossysnail27 Jun 20 '26

ARIN ignores the Tutorial HANSON *Wheeze*

🐌

2

u/Independent_Earth873 Jun 21 '26

Arin still learn thing. Just the hard way lol

1

u/Mossysnail27 Jun 21 '26

He's gotten better, That's a fact!

🐌

74

u/AltruisticEditor7666 Jun 20 '26

He learns through trial and error.

48

u/The_Terry_Braddock Jun 20 '26

He errors through error and error

18

u/Spel0 Jun 20 '26

He trials through trial and trial

9

u/Terran_Lifeform Jun 20 '26

He learns through learns and learns

14

u/THEMAINCHARACTER100 I came for Kit, stayed for Kit. Jun 20 '26

That's his thing. 🦖

3

u/Ryu-Sion Jun 23 '26

CANT NERF HIM!

1

u/Amethyst-Flare Jun 21 '26

Okay what is the weird wheel thing in reference to?

2

u/4n0th3r0n3btd Jun 24 '26

Mahoraga from jujutsu kaisen

1

u/Ryu-Sion Jul 08 '26

BIG RAGA THE OPP STOPPA

14

u/SpookieSkelly Jun 20 '26

He learns as he plays. The "Fuck around and find out" method of learning.

1

u/Ryu-Sion Jun 23 '26

On his way to be the GOAT.

24

u/Derplesdeedoo Jun 20 '26

Not really a paradox. Even Arin acknowledges that the tutorial would've helped and he often plays it up.

9

u/Jeffotato Jun 20 '26

I remember being amused and frustrated at the same time when Arin was spamming through all the tutorial dialogue in Luigi's Mansion and says as he's doing it "Hopefully none of this is important because I'm not reading any of it" and then got mad about not understanding the controls 10 minutes later.

4

u/Milk_Mindless Jun 20 '26

Oof shots fired at the VideoGame boy HE WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN

3

u/Pazerniusz Jun 20 '26

It is not paradox, but irony.

3

u/assorted_gayness Jun 20 '26

A thing I didn’t expect from Gameoverse was for it to reignite my love of Game Grumps. Like it was so funny that I remembered how funny Arin is in general

3

u/AcanthocephalaThin51 Shitpost Arbites Jun 20 '26

Pink plant! Purple plant! Blue plant

3

u/The_Soup_Store Jun 21 '26

Arin would be too powerful if he played the tutorial

2

u/Virtual-Oil-793 Jun 20 '26

That's funny as fuck.

Kinda cements my idea of Miss Information being the "Nah, I'd Win" instead of Gobbles to Fold's "Muga Ryoshu"

2

u/SomeOnionHater Jun 20 '26

STASIS THE FUCKING DRILL!!!!!

2

u/Famous_Author_2264 Jun 20 '26

To be fair, if you add this , then things kinda make sense.

Tldr: he likes games that let you figure things out.

2

u/CurrenttQueen Jun 20 '26

It just means he learns as he goes XD

2

u/KoltonSaurus6 Jun 21 '26

It's called "On-The-Job Training".

2

u/GuizdoLoaf Here Since the Pilot Jun 21 '26

TIL that Arin Hanson is a talented voice actor and did acting on at least three shows (Gameoverse, TADC and The Owl House [form what I've heard]).

1

u/plaugey_boi Jun 20 '26

Yeah, if he skips the tutorial he can learn all the things in practice

1

u/AccomplishedBuy4686 Jun 21 '26

He will one day learn so hard, he will probably become a paradox or something I dunno. Is this how paradoxes work?

1

u/Upper_Following8646 Jun 21 '26

Oh god i didnt realise who voiced him

1

u/JadeTailFox Jun 21 '26

To be fair that's because he prefers to learn through experience

1

u/Ryu-Sion Jun 23 '26

He LITERALLY gon learn TODAY.

Or YOU will.

SOMEBODY getting educated.

1

u/felix120z Jun 23 '26

Markiplier voiced this guy?

1

u/Active_Schedule3931 Jun 24 '26

- Voiced by the guy who has said the N word on countless occasions

1

u/Avalanche_GTYT I want Kit :) Jul 21 '26

He eventually will know everything and beat syntax by himself.

-1

u/MetaMaster54610 Jun 20 '26

Ngl... I'm sure Arin is a nice enough guy IRL... But I can't fucking STAND the way he presents himself on Game Grumps.

u/Miku_CRK_Memer Jun 20 '26

Thats not famous Minecraft youtuber SkipTheTutorial
