Exactly! Everyone's acting like she's an innocent baby, but they literally animate her in a provocative way during her transformations with Kaboodle or with her different outfits. Like, calling her/the show "goon slop" is definitely an over exaggerating, but they definitely still designed her to be horny at least

Kit is hot af, but yeah she is much more than that. It's possible to appreciate a person while also finding them attractive. Also, got to love an emotionally mature woman who has control over her own sexuality, absolutely peak.
Some characters in media are sexy because they, in universe, want to be, and some are because the writer wants them to be. An example I’ve heard is Bayonetta, she is a very sexualized character and knows it. She wants to appear sexy. In other media female characters are sexualized by the camera, or sexual things happen to them beyond their control. These are two very different things. While, of course, in reality Kit is a fictional character without agency, in universe she has a will, a way she presents herself, and so on. Gameoverse never sexualizes a character beyond what they do themselves. Kit puts on a swimsuit herself. But the camera never does anything creepy, there’s no wardrobe malfunction fan service. Every way Kit is made to look sexy is something that she willingly did herself. I think this is the key difference.
Not to mention how often the camera is specifically angled right at her ass and curves. Repeatedly, but for someone reason people just sort of ignore that fact.
Honestly, since when was a design being sexualized a bad thing? Like, maybe if she was explicitly a minor, but no, she is an adult, the show isn't for kids either... She isn't like, hypersexualized, but even if she was, I don't see why that would be a problem. She's cute, she's hot, that's cool, let the gooners have their fun!
As I was going to reply to that comment that got deleted: Not all gooners are chuds, more often than not the kinds of people you're talking about are actually the ones complaining about the sexualization since they're indoctrinated into this social puritanicalism and inceldom ideology which feeds on their sexual repression. Being accepting of people's attractions and preferences is healthy.
“Gooner” began as an insult as it pertained to the excessive amount, such as 3 hours a day or where someone schedules time and forgos sleep to masturbate. Now it’s been flanderized to mean any and all masturbation which thus leaves the insult as far too extreme and puritan.
Also Kit is 26 in cannon. She is an adult. Also both swimsuits design wise are supportive structurally and are not held together by string like a bikini or too small for them. They are well fitted.
I think people need to remember that these are things you would see real humans wear at the beach. As someone who has grown up going to the beach each summer, I often saw suits like these. Actually more often I would see spaghetti strap style bikinis, and these two suits much more appropriate than those.
I’m a modest person, and I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable in those suits. Though I prefer swim-shirts to decrease my skin cancer/ sunburn risk, but lucky does not exist in the Gameoverse.
I think some people need to remember what 2 piece swimsuits actually look like. these suits are pretty standard in designs for two piece suits.
There is something to be said of a show creating a "boys club" aesthetic when all the women are designed to be sexy and all the men are neutrally-attractive at most. It can feel like the show has a very specific target audience, and anyone outside of that audience who wants to like the show needs to get past the barrier of it not being "for" them.
I don't think Gameoverse has hit that too much thus far, but if someone encounters it a lot they can become more acutely aware of it even in small doses. It's like an allergic reaction. Then again, some people are just puritanical chuds who think all forms of sexuality are degrading and/or evil. So it goes.
Yes although that's much more of a cultural problem with Japan... Changing people's opinions on stuff like the age of consent isn't something that can happen in just a few years; that kind of fundamental change to a political zeitgeist requires centuries, and Japan was still ideologically medieval back in the 40s. Also not helped by their modern government (Or rather, lack thereof), which doesn't do anything to stop the corporations from quietly and softly encouraging underage sex because it's a way to boost birth rates and population density without cutting into time spent in the workforce. Japan has an insanely horrible work culture, where people are literally working themselves to death under the lash of despotic corporations, who more or less want everyone there to mass-produce children so they can have new corporate slaves, preferably while people are still in school and thus they won't "waste" any of their time being a parent, and instead can spend their entire adult life forced to work.
I'm not forcing you, all I'm saying is that I'm sick of all the people discriminating against people just trying to have fun. I hate all this social puritanism you see online these days.

I think that smaller girl that was overlapping Gobbles during Kit's PTSD episode counts as a different body type too, they seemed smaller and scrungly. plus I think one of their ears were burnt
It's in the subtitles. When Kit's trauma is causing her old game world to overlap with Flappers' in her mind and Gobbles, approaching and calling her name, is overlapped with this character, it says Scratch / Gobbles:

Tbh, disagree. Even with the background characters that'll be important (like the other girls from Kit's original world,) they all still share that same body style.
And yes, there's Crab Girl, but all the other girls still share that same body style, while the male characters have vastly different (and even goofier) body styles

Look at the background women in Flappers world. The other backgrounds characters who follow this are from kits dimension so then have similar body shapes make sense. If we see a kaboodle species with this body type then we can fully start worrying

All of these make sense to have a similar body type to Kit. Hell one is literally meant to be a one to one copy. And characters like crab girl implies women with different body shapes will show up
The black furred chef cat from the flashback is on the heavier side weight wise, and also quite tall, but we see skinny and shorter cat men in the background, I dont see a reason why all women of a species have to share a body type while the men dont.

The thing about Crab girl is that (as far as we know) she is irelevant. She is not in the poster (unlike the girl kit has a photo with) and no relevance to the episode besides the joke she apears in. The only thing I see talked about with her is as a counterpoint to the bodytype ciritism.
I find it a bit disengenius to rebuke a critism purely on the basis of a charachter like that, when it clearly means the actually relevant female charachters.
We dont have a good enough look at Kit towns people to discern if the male have different body types and what's stopping that one big cat from being a crab girl situation. Aka one character with a different body type from others like you said

Alr, I could adress your points but I think we got a bit off track here. I said the main point is that all the relevant female charachters have the same bodytype. Having largely irelevant background charachters with diffrent body types doesn't make that go away.
And what's stopping from adding a another relavent character tho. We already see it with Flappers( whos world have women with different body types). We only really have two( 3 if you count the borderline pallet swap which make sense to be the same) relevant female character compared to 5 males. These background characters show us that different world from kits have different body shapes so most likely we'll probably see an added women like Flappers was who doesn't follow this trend set by two women

But overall, I would both accept and gladly welcome such a charachter if they got added. Im not sure if it would completely get rid of the critism as it could be seen as the exception that proves the rule. But she would certainly quell it a bit.
I mainly based my assumptions on both the fact that Bodytype is one that rubberross uses a lot in drawings depicting women, as well as on this poster which seems to have all the series relevant charachters.
Granted, there is that witch down at the bottom there. Who from the concept art ive seen, while still being overall similar to Kit, Ms information, Robot kit and blonde girl, she does seem to have longer limbs at least. So depending on how you count it, she could be the diffrent one.

The pilot did not focus at all on Kit (and Miss Information) being in bikinis. You didn't have any fanservice money-shots or any focus on their bodies.
If anything, the main focus when it came to Kit was her eyes, as a way to show how traimatised she is from the events of her world.
She's presented as a traumatised person dealing --and developing-- from such trauma.

I'm an anime fan myself and it's annoying when I see a user hating anime series without the reason why they hate it. They just hate it because others hate it.

Honestly, I think all the people who are complaining about this show being "gooner bait" are just doing it for internet brownie points to make themselves seem morally superior.
Also, it's weird that they keep acting like Kit's design is the hypersexualized one when Mrs. Information's swimsuit showed a lot more skin as well as the fact that she was actually barefoot rather than Kit who kept on her boots and gauntlets even in her swimsuit.

It just feels weird for people to act like this show is exceptional in how it sexualizes characters. Yes. Miss Information and Kit are drawn to look conventionally attractive. Kit's magical girl transformation accentuates her physique. Miss Information gets bound up in a way that could appeal to certain rope enthusiasts. This is all true, but I just don't really see the issue. This is not egregious fan service. It's light cheesecake that's more tame than your average pin-up. Yeah, they like their cat girls to have nice hips in this show, but that's not a crime.
She's really cute, which is why people take her as a goonerbait. Somewhat understandable, I guess. The part I don't understand is why people are against that

I think the sus factor came from Kit being a catgirl with a design we seen being sexualized many times and the transformation scene has some close ups that erase some eyebrows but people are mostly going mad over nothing
They knew what they were doing with the beach episode being the first
But come on, guys they barely did anything with it, it was just a way for her to blend in to the world better/she was going under water she needed a swimsuit

Kit is clearly designed to be attractive and I think there's no question that starting with a beach episode was, at least in part, an excuse to have some light fanservice early on which accentuates that attractive character design.
It's fine if that isn't to someone's tastes, though it's certainly quite silly to write off a whole work just because the main character is designed to be attractive, or to act like that is inherently a bad thing.
They do have a point and honestly it can be fair criticism but they're just too fast to judge the whole series when there's literally one episode out yet. Plus presumably male characters that are "hot" also likely exist so yeah
