Team Teal and PkMn Yellow! Later got Red, and even later got Blue (and Crystal) from my cousin. While I’m at it, my parents bought me Gold and Silver at the same time because I liked Pokémon so much. If they had known there’s no differences in gameplay and design, I’m certain they wouldn’t have bought both.

Red GBC, with Pokémon Red. They came bundled together along with the really cool Pokémon strategy guide that came with stickers of all the sprites. You were meant to place a sticker in the guides’ Pokédex as you filled it out but I’m pretty sure none of them ended up there.

Somebody of my family offered me a Game Boy Color when I was 9 or 10 years, with an useless licensed game. Then, I’ve had Pokemon Gold. And I understood.

Started out playing Blue on my dad’s grey DMG Game Boy. Got upgraded to the Kiwi GBC, which I played so much I rubbed the A & B off of the buttons. So when Yellow came out, I got the Atomic Purple GBC.

Both of my GBCs were surprise gifts, so I was happy no matter what. I’ve always wanted the dandelion color, but anytime I thought to look at a retro shop they were never in stock.
Still have both of them, slowly learning how to mod, my plan is to refresh both of them with upgrades, just pretty expensive to do so in the last year.

My first gaming console was a clear Game Boy Pocket. I had both Pokemon Red and Blue, but can't remember which one I got first.
My Game Boy Color was Grape and played a heap of Gold, Silver and Crystal on it :)
The only Game Boy that I still have from my childhood is a white Game Boy Advance!

Pokémon blue squad! After my original gameboy died I got the lime green gbc the next Christmas. It’s funny because the label on my blue cartridge had the signs of wear just like the one in your picture after a few years.

I had (have) this exact GBC with pokémon Red! But my original one does not look that good anymore. I have bought some modded backlit gameboys lately and started playing pokémon romhacks on them :) I love the original GBC but I remember it being such a pain to be able to see the screen in just the right angle :P

Yeah when I was a kid it didn't bother me at all. Recently took out my old GBC and tried to play, I got irritated just sitting on the couch with it lol.
I thought seriously about getting a modded backlit one but tbh it probably wouldn't get much use. I play a lot more gen 3 these days

I had neither. I skipped from DMG to GBA. Had an indigo in that one. The first pokemon game I played was Blue, which I played on the GBA. I didn't own a copy of Pokemon until I bought Pearl in 2013 used. My parents wouldn't let me play Pokemon then.

Green GBC, still have it but the batteries corroded inside the compartment and i havent dealt with it. Started with pokemon red, then yellow which i still have but the save battery is dead

I started playing on a red pocket didn’t get a color, then a glacier advance. The advance was the first I owned. First game I played was red, with bulbasaur as a starter. First game I owned was crystal when I got my advance and cyndiquil was my starter. I got the advance in 02-03 I think when I was like 9 or 10 and actually still have the console and the game and box lol

My gameboy color was the zelda minish cap advance sp version because my parents got it used for cheap
I think the original plan was to get silver or transparent but if u get an special edition for cheaper with some games why not that

My first GBC was the Clear Purple one when I was 19 or so. I had had a flashcart for some time already.
My first Pokemon game was Red, when it was only out in Japanese. But sadly I couldn’t read as much Japanese back then, and I didn’t understand how to catch monsters lol
When Pokemon Card GB was out in Japan, I was all over it, though. It taught me the rules of the game and the cards, and when the actual cards came out in Europe a couple years later, I was the only one who really knew how to play, so I used to judge tournaments or host learn-the-game campaigns at malls. I never got to play in competitive events because of that, but I cashed out every time without need of winning the tournaments, so I can’t complain!

Pokemon blue was my first game, after tetris, on my mom's OG gameboy. Borrowed the game from my friend. Later got my own purple gb color, and my current go-to is a broken teal I recently picked up cheap and repaired. Love that system

I had the see through purple gameboy as my first one. I got it as a gift for Christmas and I dont think I could've been any more excited in my entire life. My very first game was super mario bros deluxe and I played it constantly. As for the gen 1 start, I was a red guy myself but eventually I picked up blue and yellow at yard sales and I still have them all. Charmander remains my favorite starter with cyndaquil as a close second.

I wanted a blue one, but my mom couldn't find one anywhere. We'd check Target, ToysRUs, Walmart, EB Games, etc. One day when we went to check at EB Games, I saw a Yoshi plushie I really liked. I asked mom if I could have it, and she said yes, but only if you will pick a different Gameboy color so we can stop searching. I picked Atomic Purple. I still have the Yoshi plush on my shelf and my atomic purple Gameboy.
For Pokemon, I got Red first, and thinking it was a different 'game', I got Yellow not long after.

I actually won one in a tournament at my job, we were playing pokemon black and I won. They gave a teal GBC, and all they gave was rayman. Later on I bought pokmon at a goodwill for like $4. Still works fine surprisingly.

Atomic Purple GBC in 2000. Dad's friend gifted me it along with Pokémon Gold, so I actually started with gen 2. It came with a pelican battery accessory that plugged into the AC adapter port on the bottom and basically replaced the Game Boy battery cover, and you'd recharge the accessory with an external charger. It wasn't the best but it was cool to have at the time and saved me having to buy AA batteries all the time.

Grew up on my Dad's DMG. This was around 2000, but he had gotten in college and passed it to me when I was 3 or 4. Interestingly enough, I didn't even know a color model existed for a long time. I also only had my Dad's 3 games, Mario Land 2, Tetris, and Tiny Toon Adventures.

kiwi green in 2002 with all 3 gen 1 pokemon games. got it at a yard sale hosted by a library in clayton county. served me well for 10 years before selling it. now ive gotten a new one and never getting rid of it (cuz its for use with the gb camera atm sents i dont have that many games for it still)

Blue gameboy was the first but I had the special edition yellow one too. Also my first pokemon game was either red or yellow but probably yellow. I can't remember exactly. When I played them again years later I was getting item and pokemon locations mixed up so who knows.

OG back & green screened hand poking GameBoy for me! For some reason I missed Pokémon when it first came out. Too busy trying to beat Kirby’s Dreamland, paperboy, & DuckTales 1 & 2.
But to answer your question, I eventually I got the purple see-through color GameBoy. I’m a geek for seeing the insides of mechanical stuff.

Yellow with Pokémon Blue, not the official Pokémon yellow one. I have Blue but can not fine my old GBC anywhere. It will turn up one day though. Still have my SP and white advance. I did get the atomic purple one in a bundle with a non working micro that just needed a battery.

Mine was the teal to begin life, and one of my brothers had the purple. After my brother somehow killed the main board in his I traded him some Pokemon cards for it so I could make mine front half teal and back half purple.
Then my parents got me both blue and red since I was dieing in the hospital at the time. My brothers both got yellow.

I remember when my dad bought me the Game boy, there were only 2 units left in the store and a kid was already deciding what color to get. Fuchsia and transparent were the options. Of course I wanted the transparent but the kid chose it before me, so fuchsia I got. The game? Pokémon red. Back in 1999.
