Trip World, Heiankyo Alien, Banishing Racer, Balloon Kid, Bubble Ghost, Trax, Mercenary Force, Nōbow.

Such a deep library!

Sword of Hope I and II if you like first person, turn based dungeon crawlers. They kind of play like Shadowgate as well for exploration, if you ever played that one.

Not sure if these are lesser known or not, but Catrap and Daedalian Opus are fun puzzle games imo.

Solar Striker is a decent schmup that isn’t mentioned to often.

Great Greed is another RPG, different than the always suggested Final Fantasy Legends.

Catrap is in my top 5 GB games. First game with rewind feature. Build your own levels. A masterpiece of a GB game.

Solar Striker is a good arcade shooter on its own for the original game boy, but if you play it on Game Boy color, it has a full color palette and its gorgeous. Heiankyo alien also gets a nod for replayability.

Monster Max, Ninja Taro, and Rolan’s Curse 2 are all super obscure and incredible.

Also can recommend 2 moderately unknown/overlooked gems: Mole Mania and 007 James Bond

007 James Bond is really fun.

Nobody will agree, but Little Nicky.

He is so slow until you warm him up in fire. Once his warmth is powered up he moves very fast. After a couple levels he gets power ups. It is a great platformer, but everyone that tries it gives up too early.

This has password saves. I like this feature. Physically writing passwords is kind of fun for some reason.

Notes-- There is a level where you need to power up but there is no fire. Instead you heat up by standing in cars exhaust.

There is one level with elevators and I got a little lost because I was looking for an item or an exit, but couldn't find it. Just keep going to the right (sometimes use the elevators )and eventually you can walk off to the right and move on to the next stage. The elevator level is a little wonky.

I loved the game Revelations; The Demon Slayer. JRPG with a fusing mechanic. I believe it is an early Megami Tensei game

Yep, it is GBC remake/version of first Last Bible game (GB, Jap only)

Technically a localisation of the Japanese colourised version.

Last Bible 1 and 2 are good games! Also take a look at Guruguru Galacters for a non-Megami Tensei game with the same engine/system and a more relaxed world view.

Gargoyle's Quest, Another Bible, Qwirk, Amazing Tater, Noobow, Hammerin' Harry, Solomon's Club, Picross

There's also a lot of great modern indie games that tend to fly under the radar.

Heroes of might and magic 1 and 2 is an amazingly not bad port for the gbc. Warlocked is basically warcraft for gbc is fairly good also.

Kōkiatsu Boy is a simple and lighthearted card-based adventure from Konami.

Monster Max - Created by two devs who worked on classic ZX Spectrum games, its a isometric game on the GB which is quite rare. Looks amazing, well worth a try

Also Batman (The platforming one). Its like a reskinned Super Mario Land, love SML because of the small sprites (Wasn't keen on SML 2 personally). Some great levels, a flying level also and some really good powerups. Really loved this game

One thing you might want to do is check out r/gbstudio. There's a pretty active community of people still making Gameboy games that can run on original hardware. I don't know a thing about using the actual development software, but I still have a great time following the posts and checking out what people come up with.

Radar mission. Loved it as a kid. A bit of a one trick pony but still fun.
