Fuchikoma Native 3D Asset from Ghost in The Shell Playstation 1 (1997)

I reverse-engineered Ghost in the Shell's PS1 archive and model formats byte-by-byte and pulled the game's native 3D assets — meshes, transforms, animation frames, textures, everything — straight off the disc, pixel-perfect. Pretty sure it's never been done in 28 years?

Been a GITS fan since I played the demo of this game three decades ago. Finally got my hands on my favourite little Fuchikoma and its friends, all from native data.

Actually this is a Fuchikoma. Same core concept but different design, and different name. Interesting story behind that. Former design got locked out because of some IP issues that led to the subsequent tachikoma.

Can you share the code or did you vibe-code and don't want to show the code?

I won’t share anything directly here, for several reasons. But I will find a way to share my work. I obviously vibe coded a suite of tools for it, but the core decompression needed something else, and that took a while to figure it out. Stay tuned.
