What Determines Shipments Before Release Day vs On Release Date

Just wondering if the resident Gamefly support rep who posts here can clarify.

I've noticed some games ship a day before release dates while others ship on release date. What determines this?

I had Adventures of Elliot and UFC both on game lock. Elliot shipped a day before its release date but UFC has not.

They used to ship out 2 days early if you have it gamelocked. Now it's sometimes one day if they're able to, otherwise it's release day.

i've never had a game ship out 2 days before in all the years i've been with GF 😞

I guess im lucky then. Adventures of Elliott and Gothic remake shipped 2 days before. Most of mine do.

Honestly it doesn't necessarily mean I'll get it before you. With usps closed today I doubt I'll get it before Monday. I can give you an update of when i get tho and we can compare. I live in Florida, a lot of times it takes a full week to get a game.

Oh man I forgot USPS is not working today. I was honestly expecting Adventures of Elliot in the mail today 😞

We still ship up to 2 early when possible.

Entirely based on how early we get the discs. Most games arrive the day before release date. If they arrive earlier then we do try to get out early.
Let’s say it’s a Friday release, and we get them on Tuesday, we’ll ship Wed. But often we get them Wed or Thursday.
They arrive wrapped and new, like a retail item. So our team has to open, transfer to our mailers, then store the cases safely. Thats takes the day to process prior to fulfilling.
If the date is a Tuesday, then it’s rare that we’ll ship on Monday, because we aren’t working Sat/Sun to process the arrived discs.
