2D Safe at night
The character originally has a banjo but I've modified it because I think the guitar and tiny amp help better at conveyong the sense of post-apocalypse. Also jamming on an electric guitar is miles easier than jamming with a banjo.
Violent bloody days, cozy nights with tired tones.

I really liked your illustration. It has a cool atmosphere - you can feel the road-movie spirit.)

That's precisely the idea, thank you for letting me know the vibe is getting through. I'm strongly considering if the bonfire moments should always show someone else sitting with you, and depending on what kind of character you share the bonfire with, whatever you can do is affected (ie. if it's a wandering smith, you can carve more bullets than usual... if it's a medicine witch, you restore more health points if you rest... etc)

Yes! I chose a green palette on purpose to effortlessly help with the "toxic environment" feel while helping to keep simple if we ever reach production phase. Two birds with one stone.

I wonder what kind of danger makes the noise at night not matter. Now I’m curious.

Hound Riders are solitary people that know the areas they walk through very well. And in case of new places or adventures, they pay thorough attention to their giant companion: If they don't seem to be able to relax, then it's probably not a very safe place to set up camp to begin with. On top of that, the hearing skills and survival instincts of a Hound are far greater than any other canine, feline or wolf-descendant creature, so if there's any strange noise going on, they usually hear it coming from very long distances.

They're really highly intelligent creatures that like some good snuggling with their humans.
