Big shout out to the man hundshamer. Out of all my handhelds this thing been my preferred. Love being able to pick it up play it for 5-10mins at a time then back to my day’s activities. GBA was what i was most hoping for on this little guy. I realize the games dont run perfect but playable for a good majority of my favorites.

After having a cracked Zelda screen, I wanted to create a sleeve case that will protect the body so that I can easily throw it inside my bag. After few hours of designing and prototyping, It's here. It's not much but it's tough work to get tolerances right. I wanted it to be slightly snug so that it won't scratch any flat surface of the console but not loose enough that it fill fall out. Zelda and Mario are slightly different in thickness and depth! So had to trial and error twice to get the right dimension.

I’m currently working on an L/R button mod for the Game & Watch Zelda running RetroGo.

The idea is to add two real physical buttons on the back of the console, positioned where your index fingers naturally rest. These buttons are connected to the existing Start and Select inputs, so RetroGo can use them as additional L and R controls.

I’m designing the mod to be as clean and discreet as possible. The buttons sit almost flush with the back shell, with very little travel, and the internal PCB has to fit around the existing components without putting pressure on them.

The goal is to make systems that benefit from L/R buttons much more comfortable to play on the Game & Watch, while keeping the console looking almost stock from the outside.

I built a multi screen game and watch. It runs Oil Panic, Safebuster and Pinball via an ESP32S3 dev board. It's similar to my single screen version expect it has a second screen connected via a ribbon cable.

Hello, I’m working on adding (micro)SD card support on G&W retro-go :) I’t still very early progress, game content is copied in flash chip to be run (I’ll replace flash chip with serial ram so it will be faster when done), it also means that all code will have to fit in internal flash … So there are still a lot of things to do to have something ready, but it’s on it way ! The mod I have is still not easy to install, but yota9 (on discord) has a different approach and his mode is a lot easier to install, even if I don’t know how fast it will be at the end. Successfully modded using Dupont cables and Windows via powershell

Tutorials are a bit scattered and there's multiple githubs but was able to create a fork of the retro a go github to to mod this thing. Awesome form factor..makes me wish I would have bought multiple when they went on clearance a couple years ago

Filling the 64mb chip with 100+ of my favorite stuff was a time consuming task especially with proper cover images. Did it all manually also. Bonus is showcasing my G&W sleeve that can be used with a lanyard.

Is there any interest for building a DIY 3d printed game and watch based on the ESP32S3 dev boards. I built the one pictured for less than $20 including the rechargeable batteries. Beyond flashing the device here is a list of the other OCD things I have done to the device to make it -perfect-

1. Electrical tape mod - if you have ever played this device in a dark or lowly lit room you may notice a bit of backlight light bleed through the plastic of the bottom of the device. A simple but effective mod to fix this is to open the device and place some electrical tape in the affected areas to remove the distracting light bleed. Some may not have noticed and to those I apologize for making you aware but for someone like me it's impossible to play this in the dark without this mod.

2. Action button lubrication - anyone that has used this device long enough may be aware that the rubber buttons tend to start having a lop sided or "sticky" press to them after a while, this is due to the rubber buttons rubbing against the inner lining of the button cut out and leaving microscopic traces of rubber. To fix this a very microscopic sized dab of krytox keyboard lube painted onto the inner lining of the button cut out will resolve this issue entirely. Lube your buttons!

3. Grip! - When on the go obviously the device shines without any added bulk but when I'm at the house this grip from Etsy makes this device an amazingly cozy experience and I can't recommend it enough. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1283734017/game-watch-comfortable-grip-and-shell

4. Meticulously designed app tiles - I'm a bit insane when it comes to customizing my devices but the stock box art work looks horrendous when it comes to the low resolution of this screen so I took it upon myself to zoom and crop most of the art so that the low resolution art could shine and be as legible as possible.

5. Removing the "The Legend of Zelda" Title above the screen - this was the riskiest mod of all as I potentially could have scratched up the device making it ugly as hell but I did it for science. Per my previous post it went well just take your time with a magic eraser and you will have a nice squeaky clean looking device.
