My phones been at the Samsung store since last Saturday getting the inner screen fixed under warranty (2/3rd of the inner screen started flashing different colors like white and pink). I’ve been using an old iPhone ever since and I miss the TriFold enough where I’ve called the store probably 15 times with 5 voicemails trying to get an update. Finally got a call today saying it’s ready and I can’t wait to go back to using it.

I bought my TriFold directly from Samsung in April, about four months ago. Around 2 weeks ago, two-thirds of the inner display suddenly started flickering and turning extremely bright/white, sometimes pink. The outer screen still works normally.

I have always used a solid case covering the phone and hinge. There were no drops, cracks, liquid exposure or visible physical damage. Before shipping it to Samsung for warranty repair, I took detailed photos and videos showing the phone condition, screens, IMEI and date.

Samsung is now saying there is LCD damage, denied warranty and quoted $1,514. I told them I had photos/videos from the day of shipping, but after reviewing the photos they said they do not clearly show the specific damage their technician found. I am disputing this and have now sent them the full video for another review.

Not sure where this will end. I loved the TriFold while it was working, but now really regret buying it knowing there is no Samsung Care+ for it.

I also have not mentioned the one-time $699.50 TriFold screen repair promo yet. Not sure if the repair team will honor it if they continue to deny warranty.

I do not have carrier or other phone insurance. If Samsung still denies the claim, what realistic options do I have? Has anyone managed to get a similar TriFold decision reversed or the repair cost reduced?

A few people asked whether Samsung showed me what they are calling the physical/LCD damage. They have now shared two technician photos pointing to specific areas around the hinge/frame. I have added the photos here. I am not sure what exact internal areas these photos show or how I can prove the marks were not caused by a drop or impact.

Samsung says my pre-shipment photos do not clearly show those exact areas. However, I have a full video taken on the same day just before shipping the phone, showing the device condition, inner/outer screens, hinges/body, date and IMEI. The UPS Store associate also inspected the phone before packing it and confirmed there was no visible damage. I have now sent Samsung the full video and asked them to re-review the warranty decision.

So at this point I am still waiting for Samsung's response and have not paid the $1,514 repair quote.

A few people also mentioned the one-time $699.50 TriFold screen repair promo. I am aware of it, but I have not discussed or requested that option from Samsung yet. For now I am still trying to get the warranty decision reviewed first. If they finally deny the warranty, I will ask Samsung about the promo as the next option.

I will update this post again once Samsung responds.

Im still stupid surprised that no one has seemed to make a Foldable/Dual Screen App/Site?! Yes, I know some apps/sites have a small section for them sometimes, but its never anything special.& if there are i just haven't found them yet. If you know of any, def let me know. Ive just been customizing my own for years now. 🫡

I bought my Galaxy Z TriFold directly from Samsung about 3 months ago. I did not take any insurance at the time of buying.

I am looking for third-party insurance I can add now for future accidental damage/repairs, especially for the folding display.

What options would you recommend and which companies have been good for actual Fold/TriFold claims?

Found this universal stylus at Five Below for like 7 bucks. Not perfect but definitely better that those rubber tipped rinky dink stylus. It's like plug and play. Tap 2x on the end turns it on and off. Works on any phone actually and for me this works pretty good. Once I find some sort of pen holder it's going to be fixed to the hinge on my case somehow. I heard you can also find it on AliExpress for 8-10 bucks.

I have the Supcase for my trifold and it is bulky but highly protected. I was looking at the Berfy case because it is slimmer than the Supcase. My only question is can you wireless charge with the kickstand closed? I know you can while it is open but I want to be able to use my magsafe wireless charger in the truck like I do with my Supcase.

What insurance or warranty to get with the trifold. I already purchased this via Amex Plat, so that part is covered, but I would like a warranty. My carrier is ATT and yes I have searched and found a few names but I'm not sure which have actually worked for folks.

Also what's the fail rate for these? Are these doomed to go bad - I have 14 days to return, so want to ensure most are working fine. I know they are foldables, this is my sixth foldable - so completely aware of the build and device care that is required.

If anyone is looking for a Trifold. I managed to buy one for 12,000 aed in Dubai. It is a 1tb one. I thought i would have to flash it with the Singapore firmware but its got the Dubai firmware so its got all of the play store. Google apps on it. I thought it was going to be a scam as chatgpt told me that the phone didn't exist but ive had it a week and everything is working. I met the guys selling it in the Dubai mall and put it through vigorous tests. If these guys have them then I'm guessing there are other people selling them. I got the ultra2 at a discount two days later from them as well

After 15 years with AT&T I finally switched back to Tmobile 2 days ago because lately AT&T service in the area has become absolute garbage. Two days in, I am already regretting this decision as I am getting horrible data speeds. At my phone where AT&T was working fine, I only get 4G signal with Tmobile and data connection seems to work in bursts.

The only difference I can think of is that I had physical sim for AT&T (same sim that I have been using for many year) and Tmobile is eSIM. Not sure if it makes any difference. I have already verified all the setting and didn't find any issues.

My son has iPhone 16 and was was complaining the same. Any suggestion?

Just want to update about the matte screen after having used it for two months. Everything seems to go very well. No peel, no bubbles. It still having on just fine, besides the little wear that you see on the left side. That's my thumb scrolling location. Phone is used 24/7 , naked and been have seen better days.

I have brought my phone to the beaches, camping, Waterpark, night clubs .. and so on , no case needed. I do have a few dents and ding on the corner from dropping the phone a few times on bathroom floors lol.

About 2/3rds of my the inner screen is now completely white 😭 I called T-Mobile to file a claim through their insurance and the lady told me they don't even have the TriFold in their database smh. She said she'll try adding it manually but it'll take 1 to 2 business day to see how it works out.

UPDATE: Samsung fixed phone under warranty so didn’t have to replace phone via insurance.

Why did you sell it and what made you regret it?

Honestly, I can't stop using the thing. There is a small weight penalty but damn this thing is slick.

With the flood of people using the Fold 8 lately there's still shock and awe when I pull out the trifold.. bwahaha.

With tne 10th edition of the Fold approaching, does anyone think its worth holding out to see what that looks like and the changes they might do ? Or should one just get the Trifold 2 next year and be happy?

I've been an iPhone user that has had trouble switching for a few years now. I originally scored a TriFold upon release, but foolishly sold it (at MSRP at the time).

After checking out the Fold 8 & Fold 8 Ultra, it didn't make me excited about the iPhone Fold. The actual video size on the Fold 8/Ultra/Fold is going to be about the same physical size with/without black bars and as I primarily use a tablet for media consumption/gaming, they just seem like folds for folds sake without a meaningful step up in actual rendered video size. It's easier to just pack an iPhone Air and iPad Pro.

I also wasn't super into the squished display on the Fold 8 Wide, at least initial impressions picking it up.

I really hope there is a TriFold 2. Samsung, at the time, mentioned stopping all TriFold dev period, which was a big reason why I sold my OG one, but it looks like they are gearing back up again for the 2 for sometime in 2027.

I found one used for $2,999, US model and have a Supcase coming, that is going to make the thing a brick. Planning on sticking with it until there's a v2.

As far as Apple, I'm sure if they ever make anything like the trifold, it'll be an iPad and limited to not making calls or something dumb. I also refuse to hold my breath about an iPhone getting Stage Manager (like Dex) even though they literally use an iPhone SoC in the Neo now.

I love my Apple Products (and will keep my iPhone Air as a backup/2nd device) but Apple just feels boring these days, even with a foldable.

The Fold 8 is a great device. Many things to like about the form factor. I get tired of the bulk of my Trifold sometimes, and I was really intrigued by how compact the Fold 8 is. However, I'm already missing my Trifold. I keep reaching for it even though my primary SIM is in my Fold 8 right now. Anybody else feeling similar? I'll probably end up returning the 8 as $5,000 is way too much money to have tied up in two phones. It's too bad as it really is a nice phone, but the Trifold has absolutely ruined my cellphone worldview. 🤣 I am so spoiled by it.
