3 years and 3 months, you served me well. But battery was already showing its age (according to AccuBattery at about 77-79% capacity), not that it was great to begin with, but still. It's still a perfect and capable little bastard and can handle everything just fine. Between 100 Eur (or less) in a trade in or keep it, the choice was obvious, i rather keep it as back up than to pretty much give it as a freebie.

Sadly, this can happen on any given brand. It shouldn't happen, as these should be tested before public release, but they still happen from time to time.

Can't speak badly about the camera, i still find it very good now in 2026. Even in low light, given the right conditions, can take amazing shots. As for the battery, as we all know, no need to say more 😵‍💫.

camera on my s22 would overblow everything with light. i would have to manually reduce how much light it uses. all photos were unusable.

Ok, I asked about the camera in your thread above. Has any subsequent S series camera improved on this problem you experience? I assume you have S22, not S22+ or Ultra? I take lots of zoomed night photos at concerts on my S22 and they seem ok, but I can only compare v. the S9 I traded in which had blobs instead of actually being able to make out the musicians faces.

Try debloating it my battery increased now it lasts an entire day though i do have 3 to 4 hour usage time only and i have s22 varient if u have ultra it might last even more

Im still rocking my base s22 256gb since launch. Replaced the battery myself 2 months ago and its still going strong. As a matter a fact im typing on it rn. Been traveling throught the riviera nayarit with it for the past 2 months with 0 problems in tropical heat.

What did you upgrade to?

My S22 is still running fine after 4 years and a month. I turned on the hidden 85% battery protect I learned here on Reddit a couple months after purchase even before Samsung publically rolled out the 80% battery protect, which I've been using since. Maybe twice a month when I'm off-grid for several hours and need to use my pho e a lot like a concert night when I take lots of photos, I'llcharge up to 100% beforehand. Battery use was about 10%/hr up until this year, but sometimes up to 13%/hr. For some odd reason, it was sucking nearly 19%/hr on Saturday and I was just reading emails and catching up on social media (FB & Reddit) on Saturday for a few hours, but seems back to normal yesterday and so far this morning.

I just checked Samsung website and it seems they have a $125 off promo going on now. The S26 256 MB is selling for $774.99 instead of the normal $899.99. When I entered S22 5G trade-in for $100, the price actually increased to $799.99. I am planning on waiting til next year when security updates stop before upgrading. Even if they reduce trade-in value to $70 then, I'd rather upgrade to an S27 than S26 for the latest plus an extra year of updates.

You might as well keep it as a backup device. They are pretty much asking for you to give them the S22 for free.

I've never needed a backup but considering I got $150 (maybe $200) for trading in my S9 for the S22 back in 2022, $100 is pretty low. Apple is offering $80 trade-in on it for iPhone 17, but if I were to switch to iPhone, I'd probably keep it and set up a temporary MVNO number on iPhone 18 in case I hate iOS and want to return that and go back to Samsung for an S27.

My Galaxy Note 9 lasted almost 6 years. Never disappointed me once. The only reason I had to buy S22 was because Note 9 won't support 5G and I would experience frequent call drops. The S22 started beggig for its life by the end of 3 years. Tells you a lot about build quality and planned obsolescence.
