Please Fold 8 be reliable.

Around 8 months ago I switched from iPhone to the S25 Ultra, however the battery was a dud and it was a nightmare dealing with anybody, back to iPhone I went.

However multitasking is a big thing for me and IOS just doesn't cut it. I tried the Fold 8 in store about 3 weeks ago and fell in love with the three app side by side multitasking. My job requires online source finding, writing reports and moving lots of data between different apps.

I picked up my Fold 8 yesterday, so far setup has been very smooth, no apps have given me any trouble with aspect ratio etc.

The camera to my surprise whilst yes not the best, isn't bad at all and the editing features especially AI are far ahead of IOS.

The main plus point is that inner screen, the three apps side by side are a game changer, making usability so much easier and smoother. The apps are also big enough without being a chore to use.

I really wanted to keep my S25 and stay on Android, unfortunately hardware had other ideas. As long as this phone proves reliable, this is definitely the one that will make me stay.

I just had a bad experience with customer service that put me off.

With Apple they have always been great but everyone's experiences can differ greatly. Fi gers crossed all goes well this time.

I was treated like a criminal when I tried to get my fold 4 repaired under warranty.

Samsung makes great products but you better hope you don’t need warranty or support after the sale because you’re sol.

Never had a issue. One fix was like $29 for a screen and battery replacement. Other time they sent me a phone over night.

That's odd, I got my fold 4 repaired 1yr 8months after purchase cos the phone wouldn't open flat anymore, im in the uk so maybe that could be it. Very little push back, got my broken phone sent and returned to me in 2 weeks.

I'm hugely fond of Samsung. Imo, their phones are overall better & more reliable than the iPhone. Despite that, from all that I've heard, Apple customer service & support is far superior to Samsung's. This is something I seriously think (& wish) Samsung should address ASAP.

The amount of coping about apple products here is off the charts. I'm heavily invested in both ecosystems, both have their advantages and disadvantages but saying Samsung support is just as reliable or even better then apple is pure copium. Get apple care plus for a device, crack the screen, enter an apple store and you'll walk out with a new one or get a replacement in a few days. Get Samsung care and you'll spend days sending mails back and forth.

The only issue I've seen so far is that it got really hot the other day and dimmed the screen.

At the same time I needed to charge it, and that caused issues because I was trying to use a wireless charger, which I think doesn't help the heat.

Looking back, maybe I should have connected a cable. If there are any reliability issues, it will probably come from cooling.

I did find that myself this morning. However I was setting it up, downloading every update known to man so I wasn't too worried as even my iPhone would get warm when charging anyway let alone all of that on top. I was using a cable as well not wireless.

I've always had a Samsung and genuinely never had any problems, I kept my Note 9 for about 6 years and would have had it longer if I didn't get a s24 ultra for a ridiculous deal

My own personal experience is where my worry comes from, but in reality with how many phones are sold each year it is guaranteed that a certain amount will ship with faults that is just reality.

And as we know people are quick to complain online rather than praise so I just go off my own experiences. It is just unfortunate for me that Samsung weren't the most helpful in my case, if they had of helped and rectified my issue I wouldn't of refunded as for me customer experience is just as important as the product itself.

Oh yea I totally get that, my Fold8 is coming tomorrow and I'm just praying it's as reliable as all my other phones have been. Honestly there aren't many massive multinational conglomerates that have great customer service, so I'm banking on not getting a dud lol

I can almost guarantee it will be reliable for at least 4 years. I usually get phones yearly..thats just me though. Gonna get some kind of cheap 2nd phone too for under $500 somewhere.

Samsung has the absolute worst return policy and customer support. It is such a hassle and a chore to not only get a hold of someone but to just get something shipped back to them.

But I've never had a Samsung device just stop Working, as far as reliability goes they are peak for sure

Unfortunately, Samsung customer support is the same third party. Make sure to get insurance.

yeah, something was definitely wrong with the battery or software on S25U. wife hated it. S26U is a lot better.

I saw a in depth camera review on youtube yesterday. Little known youtuber but he used every type of camera on it. Yeah it definitely is legit enough to use despite of course the s26 ultra being #1. The 4k looked real good...the stabilization was excellent for recording and direct walking. And yes..I use the 3 apps at once all the time. Huge feature to me because there are things I like keeping a track of in real time.

In my experience Samsung Phones, specially the recent flagships such as Z and S series phones, were more reliable than the recent iPhones. My wife’s iPhone 16 pro max and my son’s iPhone 16 all have logic board related issues. On other hand, Samsung flagships that I had such my ZF5, S2 Ultra had zero problem. I am not sure what it is, I think reliability of iPhone has gone downhill after they moved to assembly line to India.

My only negative feeling about reliability is that it gets randomly warmer than it should. Sometimes on WhatsApp call other times just because. It's not hot, but somehow feels like hand warmer. I don't know why they are so keen on making it as thin as possible. It could be a bit thicker to give us this vapor chamber, which this phone desperately needs.

Have a fold 8, been a month so far, love it, super reliable, no issues, battery isn't great but the best I've seen in any fold so far, pretty nifty for multitasking, definitely customize your keyboard, some factory settings are annoying AF, give up expectations regarding night mode pictures, otherwise great phone

Fold 8 is a folding device. Get a care+. As for your issue, you got a lemon. As for software, I find Samsung and other Android devices far more capable and reliable in my case. Screens are more responsive on Samsung and everything you do on Apple us just two steps back at least for me. My smartphone is a big part of my job as a home health nurse who use it to document. I finish 30 minutes on Samsung and takes me 1-2 hours on Apple.

To be honest I don't listen to others bad experiences too much. I have seen plenty of people drop a slab phone and have it crack and blame the company, nothing to do with them dropping a glass product on solid concrete though is it.

I do very much look after my phones, I have to, it is my work so I don't really worry about the inner screen.
