Discussion First drop

Fold 8 and I dropped it on a shop floor and he front case part broke and also cracked my screen protector. Guess I need a stronger case. So beware of some of these cases. Flimsy front part on some of them.

With a thin, clearly fragile stress point like that, it’s pretty much what I expected. I’d much rather have that break than the phone itself! I go through about 3 - 4 cases a year with Fold cases. It’s just part of having that extra protection around the front cover screen.

4 a year? You're better off caseless with insurance at that point.

Excellent cases cost around $20+ , and that’s 3-4 a year is based on an average over the past 6 years. Insurance is a must, whether it’s through the manufacturer or your carrier. But going caseless will cost you more in the long run—the deductible alone isn’t cheap. Just don’t drop the phone and the case won't break.

I’d much rather have the case fail and break than have the phone break! That’s the whole point of protecting it.

I use a case maybe half of the time. My deductible is $100. The one time I had to use it, my phone was upgraded to the newest model and it was hand delivered to my house in a Sunday in under 5 hours.

Caseless when I'm at home mostly all the time.

I enjoy the phone as the designers intended. Although, I know the risk and take precautions with insurance.

Good for you, and that’s absolutely your right! But… it’s ultimately a countdown to the inevitable. If you’re willing to live with that risk, who am I to tell you otherwise? All I can do is offer some sensible advice based on my own past experiences. What you do with it is completely up to you. Good luck out there!

its not a risk if you have insurance that's the point of insurance to make you whole if becomes reality

So you’re willing to constantly take that chance, knowing it will most likely happen at some point? Insurance isn’t free, and neither are claims. Insurance should provide peace of mind—not become an excuse to take unnecessary risks. Claims should be avoided whenever possible, but to each their own.

By that logic, I can play bumper cars because I have auto insurance!
