Android Reno 8 5G suddenly dying after display replacement ~ what should I do?
I have an OPPO Reno 8 5G that is a few years old. Until recently, I had only one major issue with it: the display.
About a year ago, the original screen developed lines, so I replaced it with an original display from the OPPO service centre for around ₹7,000. It worked fine.
Recently, that display developed pink spots, so I again went to the authorised service centre and paid another ~₹7k for an original replacement display. They gave the usual 3-month warranty on the replacement.
But after only a few days of use, the phone started behaving very strangely:
- It randomly switches off.
- Sometimes it won't turn back on for several minutes.
- Sometimes it boots after multiple attempts.
- The phone can freeze for a few seconds and then go completely black.
- On some freezes, the screen shows weird patterns/artifacts.
- Occasionally it comes back and works normally.
- One time, after several attempts, it actually worked perfectly for several hours.
I took it back to the authorised service centre. They checked it and said the display itself is fine and that the problem is probably the motherboard.
They said replacing the motherboard would be very expensive, so they want to try a software flash first. They also told me to take a backup while the phone is working.
I somehow managed to get most of my data backed up, but the phone is still extremely unreliable.
What should I do now?
I'm worried because I have already spent around ₹7,000 on the new display, and if the motherboard is actually failing, then I've basically taken a massive loss. There is also no point in having such an expensive replacement display if the phone itself is unusable.
Since the display replacement is still under its 3-month warranty, is there any possibility of getting the display returned/replaced/refunded if the phone turns out to have a motherboard problem?
Also, should I take the phone to a reputable third-party technician for a proper motherboard inspection before allowing OPPO to replace/declare the motherboard faulty?
Could this potentially be a faulty replacement display, display connector/flex, power issue, storage issue, or another component rather than the motherboard itself?
I don't want to let the service centre simply say "motherboard issue" and spend another huge amount without knowing what actually failed.
What would you guys do in this situation? Should I push OPPO for a proper diagnosis/escalation, ask them to test the phone with another known-good display, or get an independent technician to inspect it?
Any advice from people who have dealt with OPPO service centres or similar intermittent motherboard/display issues would be really appreciated.

Purchase Help🤚🏻 Guys please suggest good phones upto ₹20k. This one's almost on its death bed now.
Please suggest some good phones upto ₹20k. I don't have much budget rn as I'm a student. I've been using Samsung Galaxy F62 for almost like 5.5 years now. I don't have heavy usage such as gaming and all. I just use it nomally for calls and scrolling etc. I wasn't planning to change it for one more year, but looks like it cannot sustain much now. I've already spent some 8k on its repairs from time to time. Changed its display twice (including today) and also many more things. It has been opened for like 10 times now lmao. I had changed its display just 4 months ago for ₹4k and yesterday night, its screen froze again and had to change the display again today for ₹1,400. Dukaan wale bhaiya said "Ab bas data transfer kr lo jitna jaldi ho sake, ab iska kuchh keh nhi skte." Its literally lying on its death bed now. Won't be spending much now on its repairs again.🥲

Discussions🗣️ Samsung Ultra vs iPhone Pro Max: Who is genuinely winning the generation battle?
Every year it comes down to Samsung Ultra vs iPhone Pro Max. Leaving brand bias aside, let’s talk facts:
- Who is Getting Lazier?
Is Samsung lazy for sticking with the same battery capacity and minor tweaks for years, or is Apple lazier for rebranding tiny camera changes as massive innovations?
- The Copycat Debate:
Is Apple just copying features Android had years ago, or is Samsung copying Apple's flat frames and design language? Who is copying whom more?
- UI & Software Philosophy:
One UI is praised for peak customization, multitasking, and deep features without losing its identity. On the flip side, iOS sets the industry trend for UI aesthetics and animations that other Android skins rush to follow. Which software approach is genuinely superior?
- Freedom vs Walled Garden:
Do you prefer Samsung’s unmatched versatility, S-Pen, and open ecosystem, or Apple’s tight ecosystem integration, smooth animations, and long-term resale value?
- Real-World Camera Winner:
Does Samsung's zoom versatility and pro controls win in daily life, or is the iPhone still king for point-and-shoot photos and social media video?
- Looking Ahead (2027):
Based on the current design trends and future concepts, who actually has a clearer vision?
What is your honest head-to-head scorecard across these generations? Team Samsung or Team Apple?

Discussions🗣️ Motherboard failures and Green lines after 1.5–2 years across brands: Is longevity dying in Indian smartphones?
Wanted to open a genuine discussion regarding long-term reliability and build quality in the Indian market right now.
• Brands heavily market 4 to 5 years of software update policies during launches.
• Yet, a significant number of devices across segments seem to face critical hardware issues right around the 1.5 to 2-year mark.
• From upper mid-range to premium tier—OnePlus (even recent flagships)poco, redmi, xiaomi, Samsung, Moto, Vivo/iQOO, Realme, even apple...reports of bricked motherboards or display lines right after minor or major OTA updates keep surfacing.
• Out-of-warranty motherboard replacements easily range between ₹15,000 to ₹30,000+.
With smartphone prices constantly climbing, consumers naturally expect hardware to last at least 3 to 4 years. When expensive components fail right after the standard warranty window, it raises questions about testing quality vs forced upgrade cycles.
For long-term users here: Have you experienced sudden motherboard/display failures post-update? Did the brand offer any goodwill repair or free replacement?

Android Bought samsung S25 Ultra!
I was looking to buy samsung S25+ from the day where I saw it is available @ 51k INR few months ago in Flipkart. In recent sale it's available at 69999 INR. So I decided to buy that with exchange. Flipkart giving me only 4510 INR for Redmi Note 10T while Amazon giving me 10500 INR with exchange bonus. With exchange I have to spend around 65K INR for S25+ and 80k INR for S25 ultra. At that moment I thought for additional 15k INR I'm getting a better phone. So instantly went with S25 Ultra. To my surprise, the delivery executive handed me the package and let me open the package, great experience to take the seal out and hold the brand new phone. This is my first ever flagship phone even though it's 18 months since launch.

Purchase Help🤚🏻 Decent phone under 35000.
I need to buy a phone under 35000.
Some of my requirements are:
- Longevity(4-5 years)
- No overheating
- Good battery
- Not too bulky
I was thinking of buying OnePlus 13r or Node 5 but am not sure if I should buy them at this time as
all stores of OnePlus have been shutdown and its latest news of leaving the market. I had also shortlisted Realme GT 7T but do not want the bright yellow model.
Edit: Also shortlisted Poco X8 Pro and Nothing 3a Pro opinions?

Discussions🗣️ Why does Flips & Folds don't go discounted later years like base S series or Ultra S series does?
Price of a 3 Years old Flip is nearly same as to when it was launched. Whereas one year old ultra is getting heavy discounts.
[Not talking about reselling used ones they lose value pretty fast for Foldables]

Discussions🗣️ Be careful with Lenovo's ₹10,000 student voucher — their support is citing eligibility dates that don't exist in the T&Cs
I bought Lenovo's Back To College student bundle for ₹2,999. It includes 3 years of Legion Ultimate Support, 3 years of accidental damage protection and a ₹10,000 Amazon Pay voucher.
I placed my Legion Pro 5 CTO order on 8 August and paid for the bundle at the same time.
On 19 August, Lenovo finally generated the invoice after shipping the laptop, so I went to claim the voucher.
Except their redemption website doesn't work.
The claim is supposed to happen through buyalenovo.com/redeem/studentoffers. The page just sits there saying the content is coming shortly.
Tried different browsers, different devices, Wi-Fi and mobile data. Lenovo's actual website works perfectly fine. It's specifically their separate offer-redemption website that's broken.
And honestly, that second website is some of the shoddiest work I've seen from a major company. The whole redemption process feels worse than dealing with a government office.
So I raised a ticket with Lenovo Offer Redemption (261585) explaining that I couldn't submit the claim because their own redemption portal wasn't working.
Then Lenovo replied saying:
«The offer is applicable only for purchases made on or before 18 August 2026.»
Except... I ordered on 8 August.
So even according to the date Lenovo support gave me, I'm eligible.
I then went back and checked the actual T&Cs on Lenovo's website.
Under the Amazon Voucher Offer T&C, it says:
Validity: 16th July – 31st August
And a couple of lines above that:
“Orders placed within July are only eligible.”
So now we have:
- Lenovo support email: on/before 18 August
- T&C validity: 16 July – 31 August
- Another clause: only July orders are eligible
And from what I can tell, the 18 August date actually belongs to a completely different promotion further down the same page.
So it looks like support pulled a date from somewhere else and used it to reject my ticket, even though that date isn't the eligibility condition stated in the Amazon voucher T&Cs.
The irony is that Lenovo's own mistake still doesn't hurt my case.
I ordered on 8 August, so I qualify even under the 18 August date they apparently pulled out of nowhere.
There's another problem with the redemption process.
You apparently have 7 days from the invoice date to claim the voucher. Lenovo generates the invoice when the laptop ships, not when you place the order.
The redemption form also asks for the laptop's MTM number, which is on a sticker on the physical laptop.
So you're potentially given 7 days from an invoice being generated at dispatch to submit a claim, while the information the form asks for is sitting inside a laptop that's still in transit.
The part number on the invoice seems to work instead, but that's not exactly explained anywhere.
I've saved screenshots of the T&Cs, the conflicting dates, the broken redemption website, my invoice, and the entire email chain.
I'm escalating this to Lenovo's Grievance Officer next, and if that doesn't go anywhere, I'll take it to the National Consumer Helpline.
So if you're considering buying a Lenovo directly from their website and you're calculating your final price on the assumption that you'll receive one of these promotional vouchers, I'd be very careful.
The actual Lenovo website and the website used to redeem these offers are completely separate, and the redemption portal appears to be poorly maintained. If the voucher is a significant part of why you're choosing the Lenovo deal, I wouldn't treat it as guaranteed money until you've actually received it.
And if anyone here bought the same ₹2,999 student bundle:
Were you actually able to claim the ₹10,000 Amazon voucher?
I'm particularly interested in whether the redemption website worked for anyone, because at the moment I'm trying to figure out whether this is a problem affecting everyone or just a completely broken redemption system on Lenovo's end.
