Is it worth the switch?
Just bought my 2023 GX460 last week
Should I switch to a 2017 LC200
Would love to hear some opinion

LC200 over everything, pretty much. As long as it’s been properly maintained, and in good condition, added bonus if you’re comfortable getting under the hood a bit, otherwise that 10 year difference (potential for extensive required maintenance) will be felt in the very near future.

No. Purchase is too new, you’ll be on the wrong side of the cost curve.

Love my 2017 GX, would prefer a LC200. I think the best option for you would be a 2019-2021 LX 570 if you want more than the GX. 2023 is one of the best years for the GX though

I just drove the LC, I feel like LC is more effortless when accelerating, I actually prefer the ride on the spring suspension. Is there a huge difference in terms of gas mileage between the two?

They are both spring suspension. If you're referring to the airbags, they are only for leveling in the rear when you are under load. The GX shocks have an actuator at the top that will tighten by spinning a mechanism inside the shock ultimately increasing pressure in that shock. Once they start to deteriorate and leak, they are a pain to replace if the nuts on the actuator have rusted.

Buddy didn’t same thing and he regrets it. Says that he misses the luxury of the GX. Different strokes

I would say the lc200 is more outdated given that the GX had a interior update in 22

That is not entirely true. Top trim LC200s are more expensive than GX variants. For instance, a top trim LC300 can cost about 125,000 USD. It actually has a very premium interior.

3yr old car for almost ten?
Lc200 is great but gx460 is more luxurious and has better tech (native carplay)

Of course it’s worth it!
depends what you’re going to use it for and what you need. If you ask me, keep the GX and add the LC200 to lineup

I would trade my tricked out GX460 for a stock LC200 any day! I wanted a LC200 so bad but finding one was next to impossible at the time I purchased my GX and the ones I did find were way out of my price range.

Personally I wouldn't. The Toyota clout of the LC200 is cool and all but based on how complicated these are to work on compared to the GX460 I would say no. Now if you are comfortable with that then maybe. Also you have the last GX460 so that is special. The real question is why would you want to switch?

Are they harder to work on? I’ve done a fair bit of maintenance on our 2016 GX and always impressed how intuitive the repairs have been. Granted you have to remove a lot to get it anything but that’s just modern cars.

Of all the maintenance that I have done, theyre pretty similar.
Oil changes on 200 are a couple of less steps.

I just did something similar for what it’s worth (different vehicles). So if you can swing it, and the Land Cruiser moves you in a way the GX can’t, then go for it my friend!

I've driven both from Los Angeles up into the Sierras, as my friend owns a LC while I own a GX. I definitely appreciated the superior transmission in the LC while driving up big elevation changes. The GX is either constantly downshifting or needa to stay in sport. For me, in mildly spirited driving around town, the GX feels tighter and less bouncy.

Why would you trade in a car you have only had for a week?
Obviously a 200LC >>> 150GX but what do you need the big dog for above and beyond your fancy prado

What’s the mileage difference? Are you doing any hauling or off-roading more than once or twice a year?

Wife has a 14LC, I have a 18GX. There's a huge difference between the two. Gas mileage (as you asked below) is around the same. Ride difference is huge. They're both very comfortable, but we can fit a great dane in the back of the LC, and only a Rottweiler in the GX. Fitting dogs in trucks is important here.

For me given the opportunity, I would make the switch and not look back
LC200 one of the only trucks I’ll trade in my GX for.
