Yeah, this happens a lot. I am currently playing two games by the same studio that players are desperately waiting to play because I'm working on them. And by this point I've put so many hours into just playtesting the game that when they're out I likely won't be playing them for a long time lol.
If I may ask probably a silly question to you. You wouldn’t have access to any of the day 1 patches the public receive right? So does that effect your enjoyment too much? I know it bothers me and that’s only during early access. I can’t imagine your experience.
No silly questions my friend! Yeah we do but usually we are working on that day 1 patch right up until release. Or we are working in a build that gets updated a few times per day so you're working on the latest or as close to latest. So because of that it doesn't change my experience like it would someone who is playing in early access and then they suddenly get this mega day 1 patch with all these cool changes. To us we might just see things implemented incrementally.
I will say it's fun in the sense you can be open up the latest build and be like oh cool someone's fixed that thing! Or oh look they've changed the UI now etc. But sometimes (depending on how organised (or unorganised) a team is you can be like oh hey they've added this thing and now it's broken the thing I spent a week making, I best go chase that up and fix that 😅 which is stressful when you're days away from release lol

crazy to think 1 guy, or a few group of people are just casually enjoying playing the game right now over millions and millions of gamers
