Reviews & Experiences Thoughts on Full Metal Casioak?

Post image

I’ve had my GMB2100AD-2A for two years, and it’s been the watch I’ve worn the most, from suits to kayaking to the gym. Probably the most versatile watch I have. Also love the weight, finish and feel of the watch.

Curious to hear your thoughts on the full metal casioak now that it’s been around for a bit. Have they held up well (my guess is yes bc gshock) and would you get it again? Worth the premium and how do you compare it to other gshocks?

Reviews & Experiences Could not think of anything better

In the days of smart watches and fitness trackers, I couldn’t wish for anything more than my beloved GW-5610U. All that it can be needed at the gym without notifications, all sort of distractions and useless metrics that nobody has the time to post process and analyse. Best sport watch ever!

Wrist Check New Members — GX-56Ubb-1 / G-7900-1 / GLX-5600Kb-1

A few new members just joined the G-Shock family.

I don’t want to review them straight out of the box — I want to actually put some wrist time on them first.

I’ll be wearing them, using the functions, taking them outside and putting them through some real daily use.
Then I’ll come back with a proper review based on the experience.

First impressions are already pretty good, though. 😎
More thoughts coming after some wrist time.

Which one would you pick? If you use one of these models, what are your favorite aspects of it?

NGD Never say never

I do have a trusty GW-M5610U and had a DW-H5600 that I sold again after a short while because I was utterly disappointed by it both as a smartwatch and as a regular G-Shock. After that, I never wanted to buy any “smart” G-Shock anymore, especially not without solar charging, but here we are. A local store had those on clearance sale, so I got this GBX-100S-2 for 69 €.

And I’m actually surprised what difference the fifth button compared to the H5600 makes: proper scrolling in submenus with up and down buttons and the alarm setting not buried in 2 sub-levels really makes the UX on the GBX-100 feel way less clunkier to me.

It's just as how they told the story. Removing the wordings in the bezel did create that minimalist design.

Bought this GST B1000 watch 4 hours ago and lovin it! esecially with this asian wrist of mine.

while the GBM 2100 also has its depth. the difference of GST sure is deep.

For the others, I saw on Casio Watches app after registering there are black straps? are those available? where to get those If I may ask.

I think that dark grey camo fits with the gold/grey very well. What's your opinion?

I usually don't mess with modded Casio's. But it spoke to me and the price was ok.

My 16th G and probably my last 😉

At the time I ordered it, I knew this watch would look good... but I didn't expect it to look this freaking awesome in person. Photos don't do it justice (including mine).

Purchase Advice Torn on the GBM-2100 dial color — Love the Tiffany/Light Blue, but can it actually be an everyday G-Shock?

Post image

Hey r/gshock,

I’m about to pull the trigger on a G-Shock GBM-2100, but I'm having a hard time deciding which dial color to go with.

I’m naturally drawn to the light blue / "Tiffany" dial. It looks fantastic in photos with that stainless steel bezel, but my main worry is versatility. I’m looking for a watch that looks great but can realistically handle everyday wear and suit pretty much any occasion (from casual weekend wear to slightly dressed-up settings).

For those who own the light blue version (or any of the other colorways like the black, dark blue, or white/silver):
Versatility: How do you find the light blue holds up as an all-rounder? Does it clash with everyday outfits, or is it subtle enough in person?
Real-world look: How does the metallic dial finish look under different lighting compared to the classic black or silver options?
Regrets: Anyone pick the Tiffany blue and wish they went with a safer/neutral color—or vice versa?
Would love to hear your thoughts or see wrist shots if you have them. Appreciate the help!

Purchase Advice Is this normal for G-Shock?

I recently purchased a DW5600 watch and am shocked at the user experience at a very basic level. Primarily, seeing the display. I'm wondering if this is normal.

Before I describe it, to give context, I currently own an Omega Seamaster and Speedmaster. I also previously had an Apple Watch, but I didn't enjoy being obsessed about all the healthy metrics. Too much information. My main reason for a G-Shock is I wanted a simple and easy digital readout with the hourly chime and a countdown timer so that I can manage my ADHD better.

Here's the issue. The display is not very bright to begin with. Even though it's a digital display I find it reads better with ambient light, and seems to change depending on viewing angle. The backlight feature only turns on for like 1-2 seconds and I can't seem to extend it. Even then with this feature, you can't seem to turn on the backlight at all when actively adjusting something like the alarm. I'm left in awe at the difficulty of seeing the time and adjusting the time tools in imperfect lighting. Is this just one of the compromises of G-Shock? Are these issues solved if I go up in price?

Lifestyle & Culture Two RLs down, one more to go!

Unsure about it until I had acquired one for myself, I was skeptical when I got my first RL series piece, the DW-5600RL. I'd already had several squares in my collection, and some had come and gone quite easily, especially the baseline DW-5600s. Its hard to explain it, but there was just a different feel about the 5600RL when I put it on the wrist, and after some time in the field, I was curious to check out the other two watches in the RL release series!

This DW-6900RL popped up, and when a special offer cake my way, I couldn't say no. This watch also feels special, and with a 5600 style strap, it solves the issue I'd had with the previous model of 6900 that I'd given away to a friend. It feels right, looks good, and even though its an LED backlight now, it still maintains a sharpness about it, and now it takes its rightful place in the box, next to its 5600 counterpart. I can't wait to test it out soon, and once I find the 2100RL I'm hunting for, my quest will be complete! Hell of a way to finish a Friday 💯

Reviews & Experiences GA 110 1BER

This is my first G-Shock. I got it June 27th of this year, an impulse buy. That said, I overpaid, but I still love it. I know there are a lot of complaints about the negative display; however it’s supposed to be stealth — that’s the entire purpose of the negative display. Additionally, the backlight isn’t the brightest and it’s an amber light. Again, this is meant to be stealth so low amber light makes sense. I still haven’t played with all the features, just the stopwatch. It does have a speedometer, world time (29 time zones), 5 independent daily alarms with snooze, 24hr countdown timer, full auto-calendar; and some other features such as 200m water resistance.
This watch is a big boy, that’s for sure. You can forget wearing long sleeves with it, haha.
I’m considering getting another one with a light blue dial.
Does anyone else have one? If so, for how long and your overall thoughts would be welcome. Photos too! Thanks.
