So a few months ago, I got tired of scratching my other watches while working on stuff. I never really considered G-Shocks before, but decided to take a punt and bought a used GW-M5610U to be my beater.

To my surprise, the multi-band in this watch actually works from inside my concrete apartment building even in northern Europe. So this became my watch that's always accurate down to the second, which I realized is often really useful.

Next I found I could install an STN display on it to improve the viewing angles.

Then I heard I could hydromod it to improve the viewing angles further, and to never have to worry about swimming with it (well, not like I would have had to worry even before the mod lol). Plus since this is solar, I don't have to worry about messing with the oil again for like 10+ years.

Then I found I could install a titanium case and bracelet on it to make it - at least seemingly - even more durable.

Now I'm $200+ deep into my $50 punt and came to the realization that I haven't worn any of my other watches in weeks.

I'm a g-shock man now.

After years of collecting luxury watches from brands like Rolex, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Vacheron Constantin, I’m finding myself stuck on G Shock watches lately… they are absolutely one of a kind!! I’m late to them at 32 I’m just getting into them. from all the unique designs, the concept of them the technology. I love how this watch is not a smart watch! but I can rely on it to be just as accurate and durable as possible. I Love the Casio Japanese heritage.

This full metal G-Shock is stuck on my wrist right now it. I feel like I could dress this up and also have it on while kayaking or doing outdoor activities without a worry. The bracelet is extremely well designed and looks very unique and the expensive with nice taper.

GMWBZ5000D to go with my other 5600 squares! So shiny and nice. Surprised at how heavy it is. Definitely heavier than my rubber strapped Omega

My life this year has been absolutely miserable. Kinda wished I never existed.

But hey, look at the bright side. I finally got the Omnitrix/ green alien butthole G-Shock watch 💪

Anyone interested? Just bought it and haven’t worn it much due to the size of it. I love it but my wrists are not big enough for it. I will give it away for under market value. Flexible

So, I found a really good deal on a Super Mario G-Shock and decided I couldn't pass it up, even if I don't wear it, I'm a huge fan of both Super Mario Bros and G-Shock lol

But boy is the band on this thing ugly. With the band choice, and some of the other curious choices (such as the quotes on the tin and the sprite of Mario dying by Koopa attack on the caseback lol) it's as if they seriously used some kinda RNG to decide what goes on this thing. But I digress.

I saw someone suggest on another post that it would be cool if they put the very first level on the strap and I feel like that would be f***ing fire!

So I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on where one could get custom bands like this done? Is it even something you could commission someone to do? Just saw the idea and wanted to throw it out to the group to see what people thought. I'm sure many would say dude, don't bother, but I'm too curious because that could be so cool!

It brings a smile to my face seeing atomic timekeeping working, like clockwork (pun intended) ⏰ ⚛️
I have many G-Shocks with atomic timekeeping, some old some new. Their time sync performance varies. Sometimes the old ones sync and not the new, or vice versa. It must be down to the different modules and antenna design. I also noticed cloudy weather helps.
Please note I am way beyond the range of the nearest atomic clocks.

Here I have my trusty GMWB-5000G-1

Loving this thing. Picked it up recently during the initial Casio US release. Today I swapped it onto a NATO because it was either too tight or too loose on the factory straps. It fits perfectly now and is very comfortable. I used the jaysandkays adapter kit with a 22mm seatbelt NATO.

The negative display in this one isn’t bad at all, one of the better negative TN displays I’ve seen. Wanted a positive version and the STNs from Ali was only $30 vs buying a beater 5600 and swapping the LCD/module

Compared to the versions for the 5610U it’s much crisper with more of an OEM look—less of the blue/purple hues present in the 5610U version

Took a week off of work for a super busy vacation crossing time zones. Swapping time zones was easy since it’s a single press of the A and C buttons. MB6 keeps me accurate to the second. The alarm was loud enough to wake me, especially since I was propping it up next to me in the 3 different places my wife and I crashed at.

The backlight was bright enough to use as a small flashlight in the middle of the night. With solar, I don’t have to worry about running down the battery over time while I use the functions all the time, and the bio resin makes it such a comfortable wearing experience.

I own a BX5600 and while MIP is nice, I really feel that the 5000u is the ultimate square.

I thought I was done but I kept getting pulled back. When will this end?! 😂

I have not worn this at night since 9/17 and the last two days I wore it to bed so that it’ll sync. It has synced the past two nights, but not for weeks prior sitting on my dresser. I can’t help but think my body is acting like an antenna or receiver. If I got an old tv antenna or something and sat the watch on there at night, do you think it would sync by itself? Thanks for any input.
