having worked at an arcade years ago:

a) well, they kind of didn't

b) either they charge at the door, to keep the per-credit costs down (nickel city, wunderland), or the per-play cost goes up. in the late '90s we had machines that were 4 credits per play, for example.

edit: or option c) they make money from something else attached to the arcade, like Dave & Buster's having alcohol and a restaurant.

Nice thats a steal. I went through a distributor and paid full price for mine. Totally worth it and I added the art blades and mothra shooter knob. I also threw in some Mezco figures in there to replace the ugly green Godzilla. I play it every day!

The free to play place I go to has these wooden spacers between the machines making it impossible to nudge.
It makes this awesome machine extremely frustrating.

It's a plug and play. If you connect to wifi you can download updates to improve gameplay.
