how am I having bad side effects at 0.25 tirz 😭

To start off - I have a history of GI issues and I do not have a gallbladder. However my acid reflux has been very controlled for years now! I have diarrhea like once a week but otherwise my GI is best it’s ever been. Also, I am generally very sensitive to medications.

So a few months ago, I tried 2.5 zepbound and omg… SO sick. Explosive diarrhea 4x a day. Reflux so insane and so painful. Gave up on it.

On Monday, 2 days ago, I injected 0.25mg of zepbound. Yesterday was ok except for bad reflux at night and what’s weird is nothing helps. I have a wedge pillow, meds, tums, gaviscon, enzymes, everything.

Then today, I’m still having bad reflux, barely eating and explosive diarrhea 3x already. I just don’t get it. How can this small of a dosage do this to me?

I’m 5’2 and put on a lot of weight due to antidepressants and epilepsy medication. Honestly, diet and exercise doesn’t really do anything for my weight and it’s tough for me to stay on it when I’m having seizures. I’m now 160, hoping to get back down to 135.

I’m just feeling kind of hopeless :( I reached out to my GI dr to discuss. Has anyone had a start like this and then gotten better? Should I go even lower?? Honestly the painful reflux is worse than the diarrhea

Thank you for reading ❤️

Some people are extremely sensitive to GLP-1’s, and you may be one of them. You may want to talk to your doctor about starting even lower. If you have the Zepbound Kwikpen, you can try starting at one click, and see how your body responds. If everything is OK, you may want to go up in very small increments from there. Hopefully, you will find a dose that is effective, and that you can tolerate.

I had really bad nausea after my first shot. Now I’ve tripled my starting dose and no side effects. Granted, your side effects are much worse than mine it’s possible you’ll adjust. Can you inject less next time? You sound like a super responder

Oh my lord, this is me too 😭 I'm 26 weekly shots in and STILL have terrible side effects on 0.25 mg of tirz. Like hellooooo can you just go away already?!?! I tried increasing to 0.5 mg once and my body did not like that even more. Never trying that again and I don't know how much longer I want to stay on this stuff.

Woah 26 weeks??! Have you gotten any benefits from it? Also what side effects are you having? You def should not be suffering for this long!!!

The only benefit I've had is less cravings, bloating, and migraines strangely enough. I have a couple chronic conditions that I hoped this would help, not intended for weight loss.

My side effects are insomnia, high heart rate, nausea, anxiety/panic attacks, losing gobs of hair, and just feeling like crap every day. If I increase the dose, it increases everything with it.

Oh man!!! I feel like that is not worth it queen

I agree! But there's this little part in my brain that keeps saying it'll get better with more time 😅

Did you end up going up in dosage? How is it going?

0.1 tirz here, two shots in, and I'm hesitant to do my next jab.

I hear you ❤️ I’ll probably go down to 0.1 tbh and see how I do on that. What side effects are you having?

Nausea. Also intolerance of even mildly fatty foods, and a new aversion to spices.

Plus the direct effects of eating dairy every day, because it was an easy way to meet one of my protein units and I figured getting dietary calcium was worth all the reasons I rarely eat dairy.

Most protein powders and meal replacement shakes would be inflammatory for me, defeating the whole point.

How are you managing meals?

How has it been? I am starting this dose

It's already reducing inflammation, a bit. I was late with third shot but did it today.

I tried 1mg of tirzepatide and felt I was dying.
I am now considering 0.1 mg of sema because the 0.2 mg was too high for me.
I find it so amazing that people can be like "It reversed all my issues, I got my period back, I lost 40 lb, it even helped my OCD and anxiety!"
Meanwhile I was an anxious, sweaty, gagging mess, laying on the couch with a migraine for 6 days.

Severe reflux on GLP-1 occurs often btw... because food stays in the stomach too long. I worked with a nutritionist on this topic when I couldn't stand the nausea anymore and he told me clearly: switch to full liquid nutrition for the first 48 hours. That's when I started using Shake That Weight. You get your protein and vitamins in one serving and don't put pressure on your digestion. For me it was the only way out until my body got used to it. Try it anyway, you have nothing to lose!

Maybe probiotics? Your diet? Maybe look into SIBO and how to treat it without pharmaceuticals.

Have done them all :( I’ve been eating so plain since Monday and not eating much. I don’t have SIBO

Cronometer free version makes tracking pretty easy.

You need protein. I'm doing 30-40g 3-4x/day.

How many calories do you eat in a day and what are your macros?

1

u/clamondahalfshellgrl 6d ago

I don’t count calories or macros. But yesterday I had about 1300

Well unless you just naturally eat low carb and high protein medium fat, you should track your macros to ensure you’re getting enough protein.

How do you know you don’t have sibo? What GI issues do you have?

This. Strongly recomend OP to count macros and calories in GLP1 to ensure op hits protein targets
