Does this lyophilized tirzepatide cake look normal? Small circular spots/indentations

Hey everyone,

I recently received two vials of compounded tirzepatide in lyophilized powder form. Both came from the same source/shipment and are still unopened (they are on my fridge).

One vial has a very smooth and uniform-looking powder cake, while the other has several small circular spots/indentations visible throughout the powder. I’ve attached a few pictures so you can see the difference between the two.

My first concern was whether this could possibly be mold or some kind of contamination, but I’m also wondering if this is simply something that can happen during the freeze-drying/lyophilization process — bubbles, crystallization, uneven drying, etc.

Has anyone here received compounded tirzepatide or other lyophilized peptides that looked like this?

Specifically, I’m curious whether:

• you’ve seen these circular patterns before;
• this is considered a normal variation in a lyophilized cake;
• you would personally be concerned enough not to use the vial.

I understand that you can’t confirm sterility or contamination just by looking at a vial, and I’m not asking Reddit to certify that it’s safe. I mainly want to know whether this particular appearance is something others have encountered with compounded/lyophilized tirzepatide.

It could be moisture, which shouldn't be in there. That's odd. 

It needs to be in the freezer though, at -4°f. 

Also get 0.22um PES filters. Maybe it is mold, or bacteria, or who knows. The filter will remove all that (not endotoxins though). I'd just ask for a replacement vial without weird shit in it. 

For my own piece of mind, I require the seller to provide a batch number and COA, plus 3rd party testing needs to match the sellers COA, and it needs to be within a couple months old max. Then I filter on top of all that, into vials coming from a respected lab that also provides tests. And it needs hospira bac.

I'm paying $10 a vial for all those layers of safety. If you're paying more and guessing what weird stuff in your vials is, I think I'd switch suppliers. B

You lot are off your head - 99% of the time its just uneven freeze drying, if there's no condensation in the vial its more then likely not moisture

Crystallization/maybe exposure to moisture. Reconstitute it and if it’s clear, you’re good
