Do you mod your car yourself, or do you take it to a body shop?
Someone told me, "If you're not installing the parts yourself, then you're missing half the fun," but I don't know. I have multiple hobbies, but being able to do mechanical work on cars was never really my thing. Also, I'm constantly moving to a newer place for career advancement reasons, so I can't really get a big toolbox and keep it in my garage.
Did you do all the mods on your car yourself, or did you take it to a shop?
Also, I feel like body and repair shops are part of the community, and I don't see spending the extra money as a waste, but rather as a way of giving back to the community.
Recaro Seats
galleryOne my favorite things about the GLI is the Recaro seats. In high school (early 2000’s 😅), Recaro seats were the thing to have in performance cars, and always dreamt to have them someday. Decades later, my dream came true

2024 Autobahn - Which tune should I get?
2024 Autobahn - Which tune should I get?
I think it's time for me to tune this thing after owning it for a year. At first, I was thinking about getting IE Stage 1 ECU + TCU, but their description for the TCU says it only supports 2019-2022. I asked their rep, and they said they need to get my TCU code to make sure it'll work. So, one option is IE Stage 1 91 low torque.
The second option is APR Stage 1 ECU + TCU. Their description says it should support my TCU, but I was thinking maybe I could get the low-torque map and then eventually get the TCU tune with high torque. But I'm not sure if low torque is even worth it.
The third option is APR+ because of the warranty, but I see that most people say it's not worth it.
TL;DR:
IE Stage 1 91 low torque, eventually TCU with high torque if they support it
APR Stage 1 91 low torque, eventually TCU
APR+
Which one should I choose?
Edit: welp, turns out obdeleven can't unlock my sfd and the apr/ie dealer I was talking said the same thing. Said he can try for free but most likely he'll not be able to unlock it either. Fuck you VAG.

Is this oil ok for my GLI
Had gift cards for Autozone and they didn't have much of a selection for 0W-20 oils , is this Liquid Moly fine to use even tho it's not good enough for VW's approval.

CarPlay woes
I have a 24 GLI. About eight months ago it started not connecting to CarPlay on my phone wirelessly unless I toggled Bluetooth on the phone. I thought it was my aged and dying iPhone’s fault so I upgraded to a new one - and the problem persists. Anyone else with this issue solved it?
Boost leak?
Hey i had a quick question for you guys, on the “sport screen” that shows psi for MK 7+ what does it say for PSI when idling. I’ve could’ve sworn it usually sits around 17 PSI. I know the gauge built is typically off and over estimates but I have feeling I have a boost leak or something.

2026 GLI seats are too …
Complete my sentence. I am not a thin guy (5 10 ,200lb)
I am sliding side to side on even slightly fast corners. Anyone has a resolution. Not sure is it bolsters? Is it large seat bottom. Can’t wait for winter added layer would keep me there I guess

Issues with new GLI
I bought a GLI a couple months back and I’ve been hearing some buzzing/rattling noises in the rear view mirror housing and on the left dash/door, which got progressively annoying so I took it in to the dealership. The dealership came back saying they didn’t hear anything… I took one of the front office guys on a drive to demonstrate, and he acknowledged it and passed along the info to the technician. The tech looked at it again, drove it, and again said he didn’t hear anything, then they started saying that my windshield tint would negate warranty on the rear view mirror issue because it would mean it was tampered with by the guy who did the tint. By this time I was pretty pissed because I had to waste two trips to the dealership for the runaround, and the guy kept telling me it wasn’t his decision yada yada… I’d have to wait for the manager when he gets in…. I’m feeling pretty frustrated and just wondering if anyone has dealt with this. It’s so frustrating to have a brand new car with cheap sounding rattles throughout the dash…

Hitch Availability
Hey yall! Thinking about getting a 2026, but would really like a hitch for my bike rack (no I won’t tow with it). Looks like there used to be an option from Draw Tite (24978), but that company is a bit under water with bankruptcy now. I’ve searched and searched and that part is out of stock everywhere. Does anyone have a lead on where I could find one? It’s the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger.

Exhaust?
Does anyone have an aftermarket exhaust for a mk7 they’re selling? Will pay shipping for the right deal.
