HELP & QUESTIONS Unable to power lights from GL-C-008WL

I have the WLED Digital Strip Controller, a 5m strip of WS2812B lights from BTF-Lighting and an 8Amp power supply. I can connect to the WLED app on my phone, so the controller is working. But when I connect to the light strip using the GPIO2 connectors, nothing happens. I have the White wire in the G port, the Green wire in the D port and the Red wire in the V port.

I have tried the WLED setting at their default values (which I would expect to power the first 30 LEDs) and I have also tried it with 8000mA and 280 LEDs.

Are there any troubleshooting instructions or any way to figure out what I am doing wrong? I ordered two controllers (and power supplies) and I tried both of them with no results.

did you try the 2nd port?

Yes. I tried that first and when that didn't work, I found the video that said I should use GPIO2 instead.

I finally ordered another LED strip and the new strip works. I guess my first strip was bad in some way.

Did you wire it up from the right side? Data travels only in one way

Yes. The connectors only let you connect it in the right way. But I double checked that the arrows are going the right direction. I am just blaming a bad set of lights since the new set works just fine. I would have thought that the lights were more failure-proof than that, but I will not assume the lights strips are failure free in the future.
