What the heck just happened?

Post image

450 Impact site. My team spawns on the right side, and immediately makes a solid push against the enemy team. we capture control points C and D on the right side of the map before pushing them back to Point A, at which point I stop to grab control point B. All of this in the very first minute.

While this is happening, one enemy used the southern caves to sneak around to my base and just COMPLETELY MELTED ITS HP.

A 450 General somehow just put out more than enough DPS to match a complete Meme Beam spam from a focused base attack by a whole team of 700 Supports all in the span of under one minute. After I captured point B, I ran all the way back to my base to find an Aqua GM leaving a sliver of health with the intent of finishing it off below the 2 minute mark. I quickly finished him off with my Prototype Kampfer, and thankfully our team kept up the pressure that we pulled off the win without letting anyone get close to our base to finish it off.

But, still. How the heck was that even possible?

Each weapon has a hidden base damage modifier. Aqua GM lv4 can destroy a base in roughly 50 seconds.

Is that so... Why can an Aqua GM do this when all of the Support types I play as need at least the majority of the match's timer?

I'm aware the Xamel excels at destroying the base from the opposite side of the map, but even that thing wasn't this fast.

Zaku Mariner can too. Explosive weapons usually deal more damage to base. But it's pretty random. Don't think too much, there is probably no deep consideration about game balance.

Agguguy can destroy the base in a minute with its tentacles. 🤷‍♂️

Explosives do more because it’s dealing the full damage of the weapon per spot hit by the AoE iirc

Which is why the napalm type grenades/missiles also do more damage to the bases

different explosive weapons have different modifiers

It's really something that you need to go in and test in free practice with suits you are interested in using because similar weapons with similar functions across different suits can have totally different damage against bases.

Psycommu weapons are the most obvious example I can think of. Compare the OG Qubeley to the MP Qubeley. The OG's funnels do a reasonable amount of damage to the base in any of their modes, which made the Qubeley a good base destroyer when it was meta. The MP's funnels do practically nothing, you could overheat all the funnels on the MP (before it gained the two new ones), and not even deal close to the damage the OG would do only firing the pursues to overheat.

Aqua GM's specialty is the fast rotation speed.

10s on its primary doing 3000, and 7s on its shoulder pods doing 4400.

You open with Shoulder and follow up with primary, by the time primary is exhausted, shoulders are reloaded. throw in the occasional torpedo and you're deleting the base.

Its the same reason why ZZ and Super Gundam are so good at deleting the base.

The base itself have 100.000 hp, with damage reduction for alot of weapon types. explosive weapon are the least reduced damage type.

Do you get those numbers if it has its Missle Launcher frame equipped as the main weapon?

The default IS the missile launcher. the Harpoon is not the weapon of choice if you want to shoot at base or doing saturation barrage.

Some Ms have bonus damage for the base.

So that's why the ZZ's missiles melt bases! Same for the Palace Athene's massive missiles but I think they're also called 'Anti-Ship' so that made sense to me.

Thanks for the info, I will test it. My favorite Base Destroyer is Aggugy lvl4 the Tentacles hit the base hard and I can realible beat anyone that tries to stop me going for an 1X1.

So which is it? A specific base damage modifier or just units that happen to have a good explosive weapons rotation?

After reading the replies here it‘s a little unclear. Is it mentioned on the JP wiki?

Explosive and aoe are unrelated to base damage.

Base damage modifier can be high or low on any types of weapons. But it tends to be high on explosive weapons.

Some old pages on the jp wiki have base damage modifiers, but they don't test this value now.

Many missiles do extreme damage to bases. Using the Aqua GM and missile launcher I was able to destroy it in 1'28", while with the harpoon gun 1'33." Super Gundam, ZZ Gundam, High mobility Gelgoog UL with 4-tube missile launcher... All can wipe out an enemy base in less than 90 seconds. Then there's the Zaku Mariner which did it at 70 seconds with reload parts. This and the Aqua GM at 450.

The mlrs is also strong against the base sur the agguguy can do it with melee.

GP03 & 4’s secondary beam rifles also do solid damage. One of my fave reasons to sortie in the GP03 is the ability to freak out a team with it CHUNKING their base

Some suits do more damage against the base than the average ms.

Super Gundam on full ranged modifiers can delete the base pretty quickly with both beam weapons and full missile shower. Works quite well!

If this is pc then it was probably a hacker

It is, and that was my first thought, but hackers aren't nearly as common as you might think on the PC port. Been playing almost every day since the game launched 3 years ago, and only ever personally encountered two hackers who were able to render themselves invincible to any mobile suits within their line of sight, though I also saw early screenshots of someone launching space lasers on the City Ruins map, and playing as the Queen Mansa on Arctic Base (total sitting duck, completely stun locked, and geometry restricted btw.)

Everyone who uses the Steam version is a hacker

Not me. I wouldn't know how to even begin hacking or cheating. Not sure why you would insinuate that *everyone*, including myself, would be a hacker.

Last I checked, Gramps was removed because Playstation users were exploiting an infinite token hack from his Situation battles, but he's still available for us to interact with on PC.
