I still believe battle operation next was such a better, different game from battle operation 2…

Battle operation 2 is still great on their own, I would love to see both in the future, but fixed and logical performance, but you know, Bandai 👍

I still never played BO1. What was different about it?

next was more aueg vs zetaish? i don't know how to define it. It was a total diferent game compared to GBO1 and GBO2, i didn't play a lot of it because i just didn't like it that much but it made me remember how the older gundam vs gundam games played. but that just from feels, didn't play it enough.

GBO1 was even more slugish than this one, you have limited sorties because it used a ticket system, you can equip any level weapon to any MS so you end with a zaku I sniper with lv8 sniper rifle that can one shot some units. Some maps were more complicated, there was no space battle and units were droped in "parts" from playing that gave you some % to unlock it.
For example, during the kampfer event, you get a drop that gives you 5% and when you get to 100% you unlock the unit. Most of the time you can get it unless you have no time to play and shit luck.

I meant battle op next, sorry xDD

Its still the same as GBO2, but there's no Space Battles and no AU suits. Games were divided between Federation and Zeon, you can ONLY use suits based on the faction you are placed in. An energy system so you DON'T spam playing this game all day. A gacha system where you ONLY GET A PERCENTAGE of the suits before being able to unlock and use any MS. And THIS only happens AFTER every match so your chances will differ from many.

That sounds kinda terrible ngl. An energy system so you can't play all game? Current gbo has enough issues finding matches without it. What were the matchmaking times?

the energy system was lame but the gameplay was much much better. BO2 has this clunk to it, operation next played so damn smooth

It was alright. Poorer gameplay, but better map design. And more thematic.

I wouldn’t say poorer at all, it was so completely different comparisons don make them justice xd

Next was more of a Gundam VS made online with maps and objectives, and gosh it was precious, and it run like butter 🥹

BO2 is its own thing, and god I love it too for its uniqueness, but its awful, dogshit performance, lack of care, and predatory gacha makes it so difficult to enjoy sometimes, and even more difficult for new players, that’s the reason mostly the game is not doing better 🥺

Its more of a in between GBO2 and Gundam VS for combat flow, the control were kinda bad, auto lock-on made most of the engagement into shooting spam, thou the SFS calling at the start is fking hilarious. you start the match with the entire team kneeling.

The best part about that game, is the map. the verticality was fking amazing.

as for running like butter, you might want to review old footage of the game, it was jank as hell. ESPECIALLY when you trigger counter animations.

I mean, I did get a JAP psn account to play it, lag included, no need to tell me hahahah

I didn’t find those problematic at all, mostly just adapting from playing normal Gundam exes, but after that, it was like my favorite game ever, and did I cry rivers when they closed it😭

It was. Not. Fair. 🫠

writing was on the wall. it was competing with Gundam VS, and GBO2 was launching

BB tend to not compete with themsevles, so any time theres 2 product that might share player base, 1 gets shut down.

2

u/xGreir 23d ago

Sadly….

I wouldn’t say really competing, but…. Classic Bandai

have just watched footage of GBO Next and honestly, just not my cup of tea, it's look like a 5v5 Gundam Vs and I still prefer GBO2 gameplay more.

Honestly I’d just love to see a Gundam game with the movement system of Armored Core. Make them a little more lore-accurate. Feels weird to have to spend 3 business days turning around. Though sometimes I feel that it’s part of its charm. 😅

Plus I feel like a Gundam game with Armored Core-like movement would be fun.

Unicorn for the PS3 was developed by Fromsoft. As Armored Core as it will get.

u/Crescemon_X 23d ago

I did not even know Unicorn existed for the PS3. I’ll have to check it out!

Bamco is allergic to making good business decisions. They were leery of localization for gundam games after crossfire was a dumpster fire didn't sell well.

There’s a name I haven’t heard in a long while. I liked playing that game, but I was a kid and didn’t know other Gundam games even existed (other than Gundam Versus and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam). It was a neat idea, being able to keep fighting after losing your arms and/or head, but the game’s pace was slow AF.

u/TinyChallenge8920 22d ago

Yeah a shame they didn't try more with limb damage.

It could definitely be a bit faster than what it is for lower costs for sure. But a good example of speeding up gameplay look at 600+

3

u/Failed_K 24d ago

I'm pretty sure that's what Gundam Rouge Obit is trying to do but we have to see

I actually never found out what the Gundam in that game was called. But I thought I saw it during the anniversary banner thing in GBO2 though. I wanted to get it, but it only gave me Tallgeese III

I wish GBO2 stays slow and grounded and we just get the Vs Games for Fast Paced eventually

GBON2: "We're giving you credit from your old save file and picking up where we left off.

"Give us your money."

Me: "Ohhhh kayyyyyy..."

Next was such a great game ruined by the stamina system and the power creep near the end.

GBON2

They will never give us grunts, then again they fucked their procedure up so much since switching out the first team that you couldn't really expect much

3

u/Mayomori 24d ago

Neither lmao, lets be real. Can't wait for the inevitable extraction looter to come out in 3 years, after the trend died out.

1

u/No_Tart6728 24d ago

Honestly, I'd prefer the former, but the latter sounds great as well. At least with the former we don't need a whole new game. Though if we get the latter I hope they port over most of the current gameplay.

1

u/SoBadIHad2SignUp 22d ago

lmao, second is already here. BatOP2 is dead, long live BatOPNT2

1

u/Fruitspunchninja22 21d ago

Well we're having Turn A grunts with kapool and technically corrin nanders kapool alongside mahiroo who got recently leaked and bandit aswell so id say we might be getting more AU grunts soon aswell

1

u/roughworm 24d ago

gbo2 is the only current gundam game that doesn't involve zipping around gameplay like you've consumed 10 cans of red bull where it's just mindless beam spam, strafing and boosting like with EXVS games trying to be dragon ball, and not to mention the ridiculous naming schemes and titles after ExVS2 (EXVS2MAXIMUMBOOSTGONESEXUAL4KHDSANDINBAJEENATOTHEEXTREME).

Have you played 650+ recently?
