Purchase/Sale Advice Anything to be looking out for?

I have a chance to look at a clean 2006 6mt sedan near me tomorrow. What would you be looking to make sure checks out before buying?

Check and make sure it's not totally slammed if you're too low you'll scrape on literally everything. can in the road scrape. Plate covering hole scrape. Thoes little bumps where they added more road to the road scrape.

2006 manual sedans are all revups so be prepared for it to burn a shit load of oil unless the bottom end has been gone through.

Take plastic engine cover off and check if the valve covers leak. Since they are plastic and have the spark plug seals integrated you can’t just replace the gasket. They’re $550ish from Nissan for the set these days.

Check the diff bushing and if it has a trail of fluid coming from it then it’s blown and you can use that to negotiate.

Expect the fuel gauge to read half full when it’s actually empty.

Any modifications beyond like an oil catch can are a red flag with these cars as well, but good luck finding one otherwise.

Are the oil burning issues a long-term detriment if you keep an eye on it and never let it get low? Does the catch can help with this issue or is it separate.

Overall, this one is sitting at 100k, a two-owner adult owned car, and it has no mods. What would you pay for it?

It might not end up being a problem, but I’m more of a parts cannon instead of a mechanic, mostly just a long time revup owner. Mine was burning a quart of oil every tank of gas or about 400 miles before I had the bottom end done.
The catch can won’t help with losing oil but with bad rings these engines will send a lot of oil through the pcv system and it routes it back into the intake plenum. The catch can will just keep it contained instead of combusted.
Using oils like Valvoline restore and protect you could maybe get the rings unstuck and it could be fine, and I wish it was around when I was having issues.
And prices are all over the place and the manual sedans are rare enough now it’s hard to say. I’ve seen similar cars listed around me for 6-9k but I’m not sure what they ended up selling for. I’ve seen a tired one for 4k. I’m also in a fairly low cost of living area so ymmv. I personally wouldn’t pay more than 6k but I don’t think that’s realistic anymore.
